FINANCIAL SERVICES

Charter Oak Capital Management, a wealth management firm in Portsmouth, has promoted Sarah Serling to partner and senior financial advisor, where she’ll assist clients with financial planning, investment management and financial guidance.

Joe Dudek has joined NHTrust as a financial advisor in the firm’s Meredith office, where he will oversee the development and implementation of financial plans for individuals, businesses and organizations. Prior to joining NHTrust, Dudek worked as a financial advisor at Citizen’s Bank, Northway Bank and Boston Partners Financial Group providing financial guidance and support to clients.

Bank of New Hampshire has promoted Vickie DiPrizio to assistant vice president and mortgage loan officer at its Moultonborough branch. She joined the bank in 2013 and has over 35 years of mortgage industry experience.

St. Mary’s Bank recently held a ribbon-cutting ceremony to celebrate the grand opening of its Portsmouth branch at Pease Tradeport. Located at 20 International Drive, the full-service branch will also house mortgage services.

Bank of New Hampshire has hired Zoie Little as a mortgage loan officer based at the bank’s Concord Heights office and serving the Capital Region. She joins the bank with 20 years of experience as a personal loan specialist.


HEALTHCARE

Wentworth-Douglass Hospital’s Center for Weight Management & Bariatric Surgery is moving to the hospital’s Professional Center in Dover. The move will enhance patient care and allow the center to collaborate with complementary services including plastic surgery, endocrinology and diabetes services.

Mid-State Health Center’s Visiting Specialist Program has partnered with Littleton Regional Healthcare to provide expanded access to general surgery as Dr. Daniel Underbakke of LRH Surgical Associates, who is now seeing patients at Mid-State’s Plymouth location.

Granite VNA, formerly Concord Regional VNA and Central NH VNA & Hospice, delivered more than $6.2 million in charitable community programs and services in fiscal year 2021, which ended September 2021, the organization announced. Charitable programs and services included bereavement support, educational health and wellness programs, foot care and immunization clinics, and others offered throughout the 82 New Hampshire communities the agency serves.


LAW

Daniel Jacobs has joined the law firm Downs Rachlin Martin PLLC, working in the firm’s Business Law Group in Burlington, Vt. He previously practiced as an investment management associate at Akin Gump, an international law firm in Washington, D.C., where he focused on the formation and operation of domestic and international private investment funds. DRM has offices in Vermont and New Hampshire.

Families in Transition has selected Roy Tilsley as chair of the organization’s board of directors. Other board appointments include: vice chair, Heather Whitfield, senior vice president at People’s United Bank; treasurer, Frank Saglio, CPA and partner at Karr & Boucher; secretary, Kristi Scarpone, director of corporate relations and field development strategy at FIRST; and board member, Susan Harrington, chief financial officer at Brewster Academy. Former board chairs Scott Ellison, partner at Cook, Little, Rosenblatt & Manson, and Dick Anagnost, president of Anagnost Investments Inc., will continue to serve as part of the executive committee.

Shaheen & Gordon has added trial attorney Andrew J. Piela to its legal team. Piela, who has been practicing law for over 27 years, regularly appears in trial courts in New Hampshire and Massachusetts and handles appeals before the New Hampshire Supreme Court and Massachusetts Court of Appeals.

Nicholson Law Firm, Concord, recently added three people to its staff: attorney Keith Diaz, Jane Brouillet, legal administrative assistant, and business manager Jennifer Nicholson. Diaz specializes in personal injury, employment, construction and real estate litigation and trial law, along with appellate work. He previously worked for more than 16 years at Bussiere & Bussiere, and before that was an assistant Rockingham County attorney. Brouillet has six years of customer service experience, and Nicholson manages the day-to-day operations of the firm.


NONPROFITS

Project Complete, a Manchester program that seeks to address the growing number of dropouts due to the pandemic, has been awarded $325,000 through the TD Ready Challenge. Through individual service plans combining elements in career exploration, occupational training and academic instruction, the program aims to offer alternative pathways to high school completion for students who suffered from learning loss and disengagement amid the health crisis.

The Music Hall in Portsmouth has hired Mary Beth Johnson as director of development.

She previously held orchestral management positions in Cincinnati, Ohio, Baltimore, Md., and Winston-Salem, N.C., with experience in major gift fundraising for the University of Maryland and the University of North Carolina-Greensboro.

Step Up Parents has received a second grant from the NH Charitable Foundation, from its New Hampshire Tomorrow Substance Use Disorders Fund. The $55,000 grant will help further the nonprofit’s mission of providing immediate financial assistance to relative caregivers in New Hampshire who have stepped up to care for children whose biological parents struggle with substance misuse.

The Point32Health Foundation, successor organization to the Harvard Pilgrim Health Care Foundation and Tufts Health Plan Foundation, has awarded a three-year, $95,000 grant to Concord-based NH Legal Assistance to support its efforts as an advocate for statewide healthy aging priorities developed in collaboration with the New Hampshire Alliance for Healthy Aging.

Meredith Village Savings Bank has purchased $25,000 in tax credits through the NH Community Development Finance Authority in support of the capital campaign for Hope on Haven Hill’s new multi-purpose program center in Rochester. Hope on Haven Hill provides gender-responsive residential, outpatient and recovery support substance use disorder services for pregnant, post-partum and parenting women in New Hampshire.



The New Hampshire Community Loan Fund has added two new members to its board of directors: Allison Grappone of Concord, a strategy consultant with AGG Consulting, and Liz LaRose of Sharon, president of the Monadnock United Way.

Lakes Region Community Developers, Laconia, has announced that attorney Leigh Willey has joined its board. Willey currently serves as New Hampshire underwriting counsel for CATIC, which provides professional services to policy-issuing attorneys, insured lenders and homebuyers, and other members of the real estate community. Before that, she was a founding member of Boutin Law PLLC, where she focused on real estate closings, general litigation, corporate law and related legal matters.

Monadnock Humane Society has launched a new website and unveiled a logo redesign, both of which will better represent the organization’s mission and promise, it says. The website and logo redesign were created by a team of MHS staff and volunteers working in tandem with a Bostonbased integrated marketing agency 829 Studios.

Bradley Labarre has joined New Hampshire Food Bank as its new executive chef and program manager of the organization’s Recipe for Success culinary job training program. Labarre has more than 20 years of experience, most recently as operations manager for Compass Group USA, and has been volunteering with the Food Bank for more than eight years.


TELECOMMUNICATIONS

UScellular recently said that it made a $19.3 million investment in its New Hampshire network in 2021, including $4.3 million in general network upgrades, $4 million in 5G modernizations and $11 million in 5G spectrum that will bring additional benefits in the coming years and advances the company’s multi-year 5G network strategy.


FOOD AND AGRICULTURE

Keene-based The Works Café has been named one of QSR Magazine’s 40/40 hottest startup fast casual restaurants in the country. With nine locations across the Northeast, including their newest in Latham, N.Y., The Works Café aims to continue expansion by opening more than a dozen new cafés in the coming years, said founder and CEO Richard French.

Hampton-based Smuttynose Brewing Co. has launched two new beers in its Kind series: Hazy Kind IPA and Double Kind DIPA, with an accompanying Be KIND initiative aimed at supporting nonprofit organizations. Both beers are available in six-pack, 12-ounce cans at retailers in the Northeast. The Be KIND initiative involves partnering with local nonprofits each month and supporting charitable efforts through sponsorships, donations, awareness, activism and community service.


REAL ESTATE

JoAnn Rist of Rochester has joined the Dow Realty Group, Wolfeboro. She has a background in the legal and compliance world as a paralegal and compliance specialist.

Sue Locantore recently joined the Meredith office of Roche Realty Group. She has been practicing real estate in the Lakes Region for 35 years, selling residential homes and estates, commercial/investment properties, waterfront, multifamily homes, condominiums and land, and has been a Sanbornton resident for 30 years.

Concord Housing + Redevelopment has named Julie Palmeri its new executive director, succeeding John Hoyt, who retired from the job after two decades. Palmeri, who has 10 years of experience in residential property management, has worked in several states, including Maryland and Hawaii.


ACCOUNTING

The Concord-based accounting firm of Nathan Wechsler & Company has announced that CPA Kayla Tilton has been promoted to manager.


EDUCATION

Researchers in the University of New Hampshire’s Surface Enhanced Electrochemical Diagnostic Sensors (SEEDS) Lab have received a nearly $6 million grant from the National Science Foundation to lead a team in developing sensors to promote quality control in biomanufacturing — the production of important biomaterials used in medicine, food and even engineered human organs — a field that is becoming an important sector of the economy.


MANUFACTURING

Cirtronics of Milford recently received the EMS Industry Service Award at the IPC APEX EXPO 2022, which recognizes the company’s “significant contributions to the industry in bringing together peers in the region and inspiring others to embrace advancements to remain competitive.”


BUSINESS ORGANIZATIONS

David Hammer, owner of Contemporary Automotive in Milford, has been elected as a director of the National Automobile Dealers Association. Since 1999, Hammer has been actively involved at the NH Automobile Dealers Association serving on the board of directors for much of this time, including roles as chairman and treasurer.


ARCHITECTURE

Bonin Architects & Associates, with offices in New London and Meredith, has announced the promotions of two staff members and the addition of a new employee. Architect Jedd Pellerin, who has over 20 years of experience in the industry, has been promoted to be the firm’s studio manager. Alex Hanson, who has been promoted to project manager, joined the firm in 2019 as an architectural designer. Also, Victoria Shierreffs has been hired as an architectural designer.


CONSTRUCTION

Manchester-based Outdoor Pride Landscape & Snow Management recently acquired a 2.5-acre property in Chelmsford, Mass., to serve as its hub for Massachusetts operations. The firm services southern and central New Hampshire and northern and eastern Massachusetts, including the Boston area, providing comprehensive snow management, landscape installation and ground management services to major institutions. The company said about 50 employees are working at the Chelmsford site, with plans to add another 10 to 20 employees over the next year.


TECHNOLOGY

Orion ECI, Laconia, has promoted Tom Elliott to the newly created position of vice president, enterprise sales.

Most recently, he was director of global business development and previously held the title of national sales manager. In addition, the company said it has entered into a strategic partnership with Tansa Global.


BUSINESS SERVICES

Salem-based Precision Talent Group’s CEO and Founder, Cristina Muise, has been named to Staffing Industry Analysts’ 2022 Staffing 100 list. In its 11th year, the list recognizes national leaders in staffing. Muise is also an owner and former president of Medicus Healthcare Solutions LLC, a company she led to grow as one of the largest physician staffing firms in the country.
