FINANCIAL SERVICES

Avery Insurance, a fourth-generation, family-owned, independent insurance agency in Portsmouth, has added Lauren Hernandez of Norton, Mass., to its personal lines team. She began her career in the industry in 2005, and most recently worked at Daigle and Travers in Darien, Conn.

Granite State Credit Union recently won four awards from the Marketing Association of Credit Unions, receiving Gold awards for the Rebrand/Brand Evolution, Brand Story Video, Logo and Merchandising categories.

Savings Bank of Walpole has announced it plans to add up to 10 new jobs and expand office space in Keene in the coming months. The bank has secured 5,000 square feet of leased space on Kit Street, adjacent to the Filtrine Manufacturing facility, and plans to move in mid-June. The new office will be home to the bank’s existing customer resource center, which will be led by Kathy Settipane.

Bedford-based Primary Bank has named Robert Prunier, a partner and executive vice president at Harvey Construction, and CPA Mark Feraco, managing member of Brayman, Houle, Keating & Albright, to its board of directors.

The Savings Bank of Walpole has announced plans to open a new branch next to Kulick’s Market in Winchester, its sixth in Cheshire County. The bank plans to begin work on renovating the branch this summer with an expected opening around Labor Day.

Bank of New Hampshire held a groundbreaking ceremony in Bedford for the Bank’s newest office at 32 S. River Rd. in Bedford. The new location will replace the current Bedford branch at 256 Wallace Rd.

Elliott Hale of New London has joined Bar Harbor Bank & Trust as assistant vice president, community banking relationship manager. He joined Bar Harbor in 2019 and served as assistant vice president, branch relationship manager for the bank’s two New London locations.

Northeast Credit Union has hired David Perron as assistant vice president of information technology. Perron has 25 years of technology experience, most recently as assistant vice president of IT at Cambridge Savings Bank in Waltham, Mass.

Beth Mulleavey of Loudon has joined Bangor Savings Bank as a mortgage loan officer based at the bank’s Manchester branch.

She previously was a residential loan originator with St. Mary’s Bank.


Eulalie Paris of Goffstown has been promoted to senior vice president, operations, partnerships and client experience at NHTrust. She joined NHTrust in 2019 as vice president, partner relations and customer service. In addition, Toni Ciampaglione of Brattleboro, Vt., has joined NHTrust as a financial advisor at NHTrust’s office at 84 Marlboro St., Keene. Before joining NHTrust, Ciampaglione spent over 19 years working as a financial advisor at Park Place Financial Advisors, a division of Brattleboro Savings and Loan. Also, Maryna Krotkova has been promoted by NHTrust to trust administrator, and Junior Boley has joined the firm as wealth management assistant.

ADVERTISING AND MARKETING

Digital agency Raka, Portsmouth, has been recognized as a HubSpot diamond solutions partner, the first company headquartered in New Hampshire to achieve the designation. HubSpot is a softwareas-a-service platform that powers marketing, sales, customer service and other business operations for companies in 120 countries. Raka has been a HubSpot partner agency since 2012.

Cheryl Chapman of MarketReach Inc., Nashua, has won the Customer Service and Support Manager of the Year award in this year’s Globee Awards, which honor sales and customer service excellence. MarketReach is a provider of creative services for technology companies.

CONSUMER SERVICES

Ohm Lifestyle Center, Wolfeboro, a full-service organic spa, beauty and wellness center, recently completed a $200,000 expansion and renovation project that doubles the facility’s size and allows the center to increase capacity while also adding to its services and amenities. One of the only facilities in the Northeast to offer a hyperbaric oxygen therapy chamber, Ohm has installed three more hyperbaric oxygen therapy chambers as part of the expansion, added a treatment room and a “tea room,” where clients can relax with a cup of tea.

ENGINEERING

Aiden Behar has joined TFMoran as a structural engineering intern. He has a bachelor of science degree in civil engineering from Gonzaga University in Spokane, Wash. and is pursuing his master of science degree in civil engineering at the University of Massachusetts in Lowell.

ENERGY

Members of New Hampshire Electric Cooperative have reelected four members to the company’s board of directors: Jeffrey Morrill of Holderness, Brenda Boisvert of Campton, Daniel Senie of Charlestown and Edward French of Raymond.

ACCOUNTING

The regional accounting firm of Nathan Wechsler & Company has hired Michael J. Stevens as tax manager. He specializes in partnerships and S corporations, multistate taxation, mergers and acquisitions, tax compliance and consulting, and highnet-worth individual taxation. In addition, Nathan Wechsler has hired Katie L. Kurowski as an associate. She is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the New Hampshire Society of Certified Public Accountants and serves as treasurer for the Montessori Schoolhouse of Cheshire County.

NONPROFITS

Ledyard National Bank has donated $10,000 to New England Healing Sports Association to further support its mission to serve veterans and civilians with disabilities through adaptive, outdoor sports. The donation will be used to help the organization complete its new lodge at Mt. Sunapee. In 2019, NEHSA was awarded $200,000 in Community Finance Development Authority tax credits to complete the project.

Bar Harbor Bank & Trust recently presented a donation to Manchester-based Girls Inc., which provides girls throughout New Hampshire the tools and support they need to succeed, including trained professionals who mentor and guide them in a safe, girlsonly environment.

Working with the Hampton Falls Conservation Commission and the Society for the Protection of New Hampshire Forests, James and Katherine Kibler recently purchased 30 acres next to their home and sold the conservation easement to permanently conserve the property to the Forest Society.

NH Lakes has hired Gloria Norcross as conservation program assistant, expanding the organization’s ability to deliver programs. The organization’s conservation program addresses two threats to New Hampshire’s lakes: invasive species and polluted runoff water.

New Generation, a homeless shelter in Greenland that serves pregnant women and mothers with young children, has been acquired by Catholic Charities New Hampshire. It is the fourth acquisition of a nonprofit in the past three years by CCNH. New Generation will keep its name and continue on its services, which include emergency and transitional housing.

The Contoocook Railroad Museum Visitor Center in Contoocook has received a grant from the Kearsarge Area Chamber of Commerce to allow it to remain open this summer for 14 weeks through Labor Day. The Contoocook Riverway Association owns the historic depot, which was completed in 1849, as well as the world’s oldest surviving railroad covered bridge, a 1907 Pullman Coach car and a late 1800s section house recently moved to the property.

Kennebunk Savings has become sponsor of the Sol Series, a varied performance series aimed at celebrating diverse voices on the Seacoast. Staged by the Seacoast Repertory Theatre and curated by playwright Najee Brown, the Sol Series stages theatrical and musical performances, online and in person.

Merrimack County Savings Bank has purchased $25,000 in tax credits through the New Hampshire Community Development Finance Authority in support of the Mill City Park project in Franklin. Funds support the organization’s goal of developing both land and water components into a whitewater park along the Winnipesaukee River adjacent to downtown Franklin. The landbased part of the park, which recently broke ground, is expected to open this summer. Groundbreaking for the first whitewater feature was held July 12.

Meredith Village Savings Bank has purchased $35,000 in tax credits from Lakes Region Community Developers through the New Hampshire Community Development Finance Authority to support renovations at LRCD’s new headquarters at 193 Court Street in Laconia.

Hudson-based M2 Mechanical has donated an air filtration system to Veterans Hall in Hudson. The value of the equipment is $14,000.

REAL ESTATE

The Real Brokerage Inc., a national real estate brokerage, has opened for business in New Hampshire with the appointment of real estate broker Andy Armata as principal broker. Armata, who also serves as New England growth leader for Real, has been a licensed real estate broker for two decades.

Brian and Kara Dillard of Barrington have purchased Artie’s Subs & Pizza in Moultonborough from Arthur and Patricia Tgibedes, who operated Artie’s for the past 27 years. Rick Hagan of Roche Realty Group in Meredith represented both the seller and buyer in the transaction.

Prolman Realty Inc. has announced the sale of 78 Northeastern Blvd. Units 3 & 4 in Nashua to Breakthrough Behavioral and Educational Consultants LLC. Lisa Ferrari represented GL Perkins Real Estate, the seller, and assisted the buyer.

BUSINESS ORGANIZATIONS

The New Hampshire Society of CPAs will move its headquarters from 1750 Elm St. in Manchester to a new office space at 500 N. Commercial Street, also in Manchester. The organization said the move is being made to adjust to the limited need for large classroom educational space while enhancing the proficiency of accredited virtual continuing professional education credits.

Gary Sloper, cofounder of Macronet Services, has been named the new chair of the NH Tech Alliance’s board of directors. Also joining the board are Adam Coughlin of York IE, Jason Gagnon of WipFli and Jeremy Hitchcock, a partner at New North Ventures.

HEALTHCARE

Dr. Christopher Allen has been named Concord-based Granite VNA’s first chief medical officer. Allen, a board-certified family medicine physician, also serves as medical director of the Primary Care Department at Concord Hospital and practices at Epsom Family Medicine.

Matthew Streeter has been hired as chief financial officer at North Country Healthcare and Androscoggin Valley Hospital. Previously, he served as chief administrative and financial officer of Southwest Health in Wisconsin and most recently was CFO of Black River Memorial Hospital, also in Wisconsin.

Jeff Schwarts has been named CEO of the Presidential Oaks retirement and skilled nursing community in Concord. He most recently was chief operating officer and administrator at Sunny Acres Nursing and Rehabilitation Center and Assisted Living in Chelmsford, Mass.

Bodywise Physical Therapy and Wellness has opened a second location at 28 Portsmouth Ave., Stratham.

The practice, owned by Ryan and Karen Poplaski, joins their Epping office.

Dartmouth-Hitchcock has opened a new otolaryngology head and neck surgery and audiology office at 2 Pillsbury St. in Concord.

Dr. James E. Snyder will be seeing patients with ear, nose and throat disorders at the new office.

LAW


The law firm of McLane Middleton, Manchester, has hired attorney Joshua R. Weijer as an associate in the Trusts & Estates Department. In addition, the firm’s Hanna May has been admitted to the Massachusetts State Bar.

Tierney M. Chadwick of Wadleigh, Starr and Peters has joined the International Association of Defense Counsel. The global legal organization’s members are attorneys who represent corporate and insurance interests.


Adam Varley has been named the new president of the law firm Rath, Young and Pignatelli, succeeding Christopher J. Sullivan, who stepped down from the post in June. Varley is joined on the firm’s management committee by Maria Holland Law and Kathryn H. Michaelis. The committee oversees all business, financial and operational aspects of the firm.

MEDIA

Dublin-based Yankee Publishing Inc., parent company of NH Business Review, has become a member of Certified Employee-Owned, a national certification program for employee-owned companies. To become a member, companies must pass a certification process that demonstrates their employees own at least 30% of the business.
