BEDFORD: Dean Christon, executive director and CEO of the New Hampshire Housing Finance Authority since 2007, has announced plans to step down from the job at the end of the year. Christon, who has worked at New Hampshire Housing for more than 33 years, has long played an influential role in advocating for and increasing the availability of affordable housing in New Hampshire, said Donald Shumway, chair of the New Hampshire Housing board. Through its programs and financing mechanisms, New Hampshire Housing helps in the development, promotion and support of affordable housing across the state.

IRVINE, CALIF.: New Hampshire has seen the ninth-largest increase in the price of a single-family home over the last year, according to a study by real estate data analytics firm Core-Logic. The firm reported that New Hampshire home prices increased 18.9% between May 2020 and May 2021. But while that increase is big, it’s only the third-highest rate in New England, behind Rhode Island’s 19.3% and Vermont’s 19.2% increases. The state with the highest increase year over year was Idaho, at 30.3%.

MANCHESTER: United Airlines will resume flights from Manchester-Boston Regional Airport to Newark Liberty International Airport on Oct. 5. The airline, which will offer two nonstop flights a day, resumed operations at the airport in June after suspending service in May 2020 because of a decline in the number of passengers during the pandemic. The airline currently offers three daily flights to Washington Dulles International Airport in Virginia.

MANCHESTER: Alex Walker, a longtime executive at Catholic Medical Center, has officially become its new president and CEO, succeeding Dr. Joseph Pepe, who announced his retirement earlier this year. Walker, who had been executive vice president and chief operating officer of CMC, joined CMC as general counsel in 2012 after working as president of the Devine Millimet law firm.

PLYMOUTH: Steve Camerino, president and CEO of the New Hampshire Electric Cooperative since 2015, will be leaving the job to take over as executive director and CEO of the Manchester-based law firm of McLane Middleton. Camerino, who for 30 years practiced law at McLane Middleton before moving to the coop, will succeed Cathy Schmidt, who has been CEO of the law firm since 2013.

CONCORD: The Community College System of New Hampshire has selected Mark Rubenstein, currently president of Granite State College, to be its next chancellor. Rubinstein had held several positions at the University of New Hampshire before taking over at Granite State College in 2015.

DURHAM: The Peter T. Paul College of Business and Economics at the University of New Hampshire is seeking businesses within an hour’s drive of the Durham campus to host interns during the fall semester. Students are required to work eight to 10 hours per week for 13 weeks, starting the week of Aug. 30 and ending the week of Dec. 6. Remote internships will be considered. The internships will be unpaid, but participating companies must pay a fee ranging from $500 to $750 per student intern. Deadline to apply is Aug. 16.
