1. Last month, the Veterans Count Seacoast Chapter held its 10th annual Salute Our Soldiers event, which helped raise over $1.1 million to support NH service members, veterans and their families. Over 400 attendees were joined by Senator Maggie Hassan, former U.S. Senators Kelley Ayotte and Scott Brown, and Easterseals president and CEO, Maureen Beauregard, along with a strong veterans presence, including several generals: Major General Ken Clark, Major General Joe Simeone and special guest of honor, General Joseph Dunford (pictured here).



2. Plymouth State University and the Raymond Burton Legacy Fund recently recognized alumnus Wally Stevens with the 2022 Raymond S. Burton Public Service Award for his role in education, his concern for the state and its citizenry, and his devotion to serving the public good. Grappone Automotive Group President and CEO Larry Haynes (second from left) and realtor Ken Moulton (right), both PSU alumni, past USNH Trustees and PSU President’s Council members, presented the award to Stevens (left), along with PSU President Donald Birx (second from right).



3. Laars Heating Systems in Rochester was presented with Cornerstone VNA’s Cornerstone Award, which is given to a local business, community member, volunteer or staff member to recognize their dedication and commitment to advancing their mission. Laars has been partnering with Cornerstone VNA, a local nonprofit home health and hospice care provider, to coordinate wellness clinics for their employees such as cholesterol, blood pressure and glucose screenings, and flu clinics. 4. Southeast New Hampshire Habitat for Humanity received a $15,000 grant from the Wells Fargo Foundation to help with the escalated costs of building materials needed for the new construction project in Farmington for the San Miguel family, pictured here. The fourbedroom, two-bathroom home is being built for Albert San Miguel, a 100 percent disabled Army veteran, and his family of six.



5. Representative Suzanne Smith (center) was recognized last month as the inaugural recipient of the Reverend Sidney Lovett Memorial Award for Exemplary Lake Advocacy for her 14 years of serving the state working to keep New Hampshire’s lakes clean and healthy by supporting and helping initiate lake-friendly legislation. 6. The NH Congressional Delegation delivered a $1.2 million grant to White Mountains Community College to fund a new project that will help improve postsecondary enrollment. With the grant, WMCC and Campus Compact for NH will develop career pathways for students that align with high-skill, high-wage and in-demand industry sectors and occupations in the region.
