1. Associates from Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield in New Hampshire recently sorted and boxed 5,200 pounds of donated frozen meats and food at the New Hampshire Food Bank as part of the company’s annual season of service, which is focused on combatting hunger. NH Food Bank distributed the meat and food items to its partner agencies across the state. Anthem associates also volunteered at the food bank’s production garden and at Families in Transition-New Horizon’s food pantry, both in Manchester.
2. Jim Snodgrass, former executive director of Second Start for 47 years, was named the Citizen of the Year by the Greater Concord Chamber of Commerce at its 102nd Annual Meeting gala on Nov. 3. He received a standing ovation for his contributions to Second Start, an educational nonprofit in Concord that provides a variety of programs in adult basic education, job training and career counseling, education and training for at-risk youth, and child care services.
3. To celebrate its new Manchester office grand opening, Members First Credit Union presented a check for $50,000 to Families in Transition, a local organization with a mission to prevent and break the cycle of homelessness. The credit union has an ongoing commitment to give back to its members and the communities it serves as much as possible. 4. Ledyard National Bank celebrated its 30th anniversary by donating $30,000 to 10 local nonprofits that serve the Concord, Lake Sunapee and Upper Valley regions: The Concord Coalition to End Homelessness, Hartford Dismas House, The Friendly Kitchen, Good Neighbor Health Clinic, Lake Sunapee Region VNA & Hospice, LISTEN, NH Children’s Trust, Twin Pines Housing, The Upper Valley Haven and West Central Behavioral Health. 5. The NH Business Committee for the Arts (NH-BCA) has been awarded a $40,000 grant from the TD Charitable Foundation, the charitable giving arm of TD Bank, to further develop its free augmented-reality art app and produce exhibitions in collaboration with some of its higher education institution members, such as Southern New Hampshire University, the Institute of Art & Design at New England College and the University of New Hampshire. The AR exhibitions will feature diverse work by artists who are either current students at or alumni of each institution.
