TRANSPORTATION

Kurt Taylor, Hooksettbased Merchants Fleet’s vice president of information, has been named to Constellation Research’s 2022 Business Transformation 150, a list of executives leading business transformation efforts around the globe. Taylor joined Merchants Fleet in 2018 at the company’s Innovation Center in Rosemont, Ill., and is responsible for end-toend delivery of the company’s TotalView fleet technology platform, including new feature development, software quality assurance and application management.

CONSTRUCTION

Brookstone Builders Inc., Manchester, has been awarded a renovation project by the State of New Hampshire Department of Natural and Cultural Resources. The project will involve a complete renovation of the bathhouse at Ellacoya State Park, a public recreation area located on the southwest shore of Lake Winnipesaukee in Gilford. Scott Launier will serve as project manager.

ENERGY

ReVision Energy has been recognized by Solar Power World magazine as the No. 1 solar contractor in Maine and New Hampshire on the publication’s 2021 Top Solar Contractors list. It was ranked at No. 11 among residential solar contractors nationwide, and No. 10 among rooftop solar contractors nationwide. ReVision has full-service operations centers in Brentwood and Enfield in New Hampshire as well as facilities in Maine and Massachusetts, and has installed over 10,000 clean energy systems locally since 2003.

ACCOUNTING


Accounting and advisory firm Baker Newman Noyes has announced four seniorlevel promotions at its Manchester and Portsmouth offices. In Manchester, Douglas deLara Jr. has been promoted to senior manager in the assurance practice, specializing in healthcare, nonprofit, high-tech and employee benefit plan audits, and Marrissa MacLeod has been promoted to senior manager in the assurance practice, specializing in healthcare and nonprofit organizations. In addition, Kory Reynolds has been promoted to senior manager in the tax practice. In Portsmouth, Jordin Milano has been promoted to senior manager in the assurance practice.

BUSINESS ORGANIZATIONS

The New Hampshire Automobile Dealers Association recently awarded $85,000 in scholarships and academic financial awards to 61 Granite Staters interested in pursuing careers in the industry. The students receiving scholarships range from graduating high school seniors to those already involved in the auto tech or powersports programs at area community colleges.

Ski New Hampshire recently presented several awards at its annual business meeting. The organization presented the Chandler-McLane Government Service Award to Gov. Chris Sununu. The honor recognizes “a public official serving in the New Hampshire state government who has worked hard in serving the people of New Hampshire, has kept people informed as to what is happening in the process and any potential impacts, and has been a key player on issues that are important to the ski industry and to tourism in general.” In addition, three past alpine ski area general managers were awarded Ski NH’s top honor, the Whitney Award, which recognizes individuals who have “made an outstanding contribution to the ski and snowboard industry in New Hampshire.” Greg Goddard of Gunstock Mountain, Douglas Holler of Dartmouth Skiway and the late Bob Hoyt of Purity Spring Resort were all recognized for their many years of service to the industry. The Merrill Award, Ski NH’s highest award for cross-country industry contributors, was presented to Howie Wemyss of the Mt. Washington Auto road and Great Glen Trails Outdoor Center. Peter Holland of Pats Peak was recognized with Ski NH’s Lifetime Achievement Award. Also at the event, Al Jenks, who founded and operated Windblown XC in New Ipswich and who received Ski NH’s Merrill Award in 2009, was recognized after retiring and closing the ski area in March 2020 after 48 years in business.

NONPROFITS


Bedford Town Manager Rick Sawyer and Zachery Palmer, a housing cooperative specialist at the New Hampshire Community Loan Fund, have begun three-year terms on the board of directors of NeighborWorks Southern New Hampshire Bank of America has announced that two New Hampshire students selected as Bank of America Student Leaders have started their paid summer internship experience of workforce skills, leadership and civic engagement with the nonprofits Harbor Care and the New Hampshire Food Bank. The 2021 Student Leaders are: Enya Gu, rising senior at Nashua High School South, interning at Harbor Care; and Eliana Mlawski, rising senior at The Governor’s Academy, interning with the New Hampshire Food Bank. They are engaging in an eight-week paid internship and participating in programming that includes a collaborative, mentor-focused project working closely with Harbor Care and the New Hampshire Food Bank.

Eastern Bank Foundation, the philanthropic arm of Boston-based Eastern Bank, recently announced an additional $2 million in Covid-19 support to increase last-mile vaccination outreach and access. The foundation is collaborating with community health centers, foundations, community organizations and other companies to address the disparities and reach populations living in cities with the highest incidence rate of Covid-19 to get them access to the vaccine. In New Hampshire, grant recipients include Building Community in New Hampshire and International Institute of New England in Manchester.

Veterans Count Seacoast Chapter will hold its eighth annual event to benefit Veterans Count on Friday, Sept. 10. The event will be held on the tarmac at Pease International Tradeport, 120 Aviation Drive in Portsmouth, from 5 to 8 p.m. Tickets are available through the organization’s website.

HEALTHCARE

The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services has awarded Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center $1 million to expand prevention, treatment and recovery services to combat the substance use disorder epidemic in rural New Hampshire. The funding is through the HHS Rural Communities Opioid Response-Implementation program and was supported by U.S. Sens. Jeanne Shaheen and Maggie Hassan and Rep. Annie Kuster.

Concord Hospital Medical Group, a department of Concord Hospital, has announced that Dr. Stephanie Cull has joined Concord Hospital Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine. Cull specializes in the treatment and management of diseases in the lung/respiratory system and vulnerable populations requiring intensive care. In addition, Dr. Alexandra Charos has joined Concord Dermatology. Charos, a New Hampshire native, recently completed her dermatology residency at the University of Vermont in Burlington.

ENGINEERING

Rick Plenge has joined VHB as a senior project manager/regional active transportation service leader. Plenge has 25 years of experience in multimodal transportation operations and safety analysis, roadway and geometric design. Most recently, his work has included the New Hampshire Department of Transportation Ocean Boulevard Corridor Study.

FINANCIAL SERVICES




Bank of New Hampshire has announced the promotion of Stephanie Durfee to electronic banking officer. She joined the bank in 2000 as an electronic banking representative and was promoted to senior electronic banking representative in September 2016 and then again promoted to supervisor in June 2018. In addition, the bank has promoted Alison van Gelder to associate wealth management officer.

Kimberly Place, vice president and financial advisor at NHTrust, has been recognized as an Elite Advisor by Infinex Investments Inc., NHTrust’s investment services partner. Elite Advisor status is granted annually to the top 50 Infinex Financial Advisors nationwide, ranked by revenue production and good standing for all risk and compliance measurements.

Jeanne D’Arc Credit Union has announced the promotions of Robin Lorenzen to senior vice president and chief marketing officer and Alison Hughes to assistant vice president-community engagement officer. Lorenzen joined Jeanne D’Arc in 2019 as marketing director and was promoted to vice president of marketing and financial education soon after. Hughes joined the credit union in 2017.

Attorneys Patrick Collins and Kyle Scandore have joined McLane Middleton. Collins joins the firm as a director in the Trusts & Estates Department, focusing his practice on wealth transfer, philanthropic and business succession planning for family offices and high-net worth individuals. Scandore is an associate in the corporate department where he advises business clients on a wide range of business issues. Also at McLane, Jennifer L. Parent, director and chair of the litigation department, has been named to Benchmark Litigation’s Top 250 Women in Litigation for the third consecutive year.

MEDIA

New Hampshire Public Radio is one of 32 newsrooms worldwide that will be receiving funding through the first Facebook Journalism Project Accelerator Alumni grants, designed to help newsrooms continue their digital transition and increase reader revenue.

NHPR is receiving a $25,000 grant through the initiative.

REAL ESTATE

The sale of the Sunapee Lake Lodge on Route 103 in Newbury to Lark Hotels, an Amesbury, Mass.-based hotel developer and operator, has been announced by Wason Associates. Lark plans to brand the property as part of its “Bluebird by Lark” portfolio. Joe Cardillo of Wason brokered the deal.

Noah Goodrich of New Durham has joined the Dow Realty Group, Wolfeboro.

Prolman Realty Inc., Nashua, has announced the sale of 452 Amherst St., Nashua, to Cumberland Farms Inc. Mark Prolman represented the seller, Alla Maak Properties LLC. The buyer was represented by Jay Wise, WRE Commercial of Windham, Maine. According to the Hillsborough County Registry of Deeds, the selling price was $1.4 million.

Hooksett-based Monarch Communities, a provider of senior living in the Northeast and Mid-Atlantic, has acquired The Hearth at Southbury in western New Haven County, Connecticut. The purchase will add 130 apartments to the Monarch portfolio once the August 1, 2021, sale is complete. To coincide with a new brand introduction, The Hearth at Southbury will become Motif by Monarch.

TECHNOLOGY

Peterborough-based AirTank, an e-commerce consultancy, has been retained by ZyCal Bioceuticals Healthcare Co. Inc., which specializes in manufacturing and marketing nutritional supplements.

AirTank said it will be helping ZyCal create and execute an email marketing and social media strategy and make optimizations on their healthcare professional-facing website.

UNHInnovation, which manages and promotes intellectual property development at the University of New Hampshire, has been awarded a U.S. Small Business Administration grant through its FAST — Federal and State Technology — partnership program. It is one of 32 grants awarded by the SBA to promote specialized training, mentoring and technical assistance for research and development-focused small businesses involved in the SBA’s Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) and Small Business Technology Transfer (STTR) programs. The grants are aimed at boosting outcomes for underserved communities by increasing participation from women-owned, rural-based and socially or economically disadvantaged small businesses, the SBA said.

EDUCATION

Plymouth State University has been awarded a $1.92 million federal grant to expand youth mental health services throughout New Hampshire. The funds will also be used to focus on the state’s opioid crisis and postpandemic behavioral health needs.

Five new members have joined the board of advisors of Dartmouth Engineering: Vijay Kumar, Nemirovsky Family Dean at Penn Engineering; Jian Lu, corporate vice president at LinkedIn and president of LinkedIn China; Christopher J. McKenna, co-founder and managing partner at boutique investment bank Carleton McKenna & Co.; Tracey Pettengill Turner, founder and executive chair of Copia Global; and Katherine Osborne Valdez, board president of The Powell Foundation in Houston, Texas.
