FINANCIAL SERVICES


Jonathan Shapleigh has rejoined Bank of New Hampshire as vice president, commercial banker. He originally started working for the bank in 2005, serving in a variety of roles. In addition, Bank of New Hampshire has announced the promotion of Deigh Cormiea to Lincoln banking office manager.

St. Mary’s Bank has named Kevin Nihill as chief financial officer and treasurer. He has over 15 years of finance and banking experience, serving as senior vice president and treasurer at Massachusetts-based Berkshire Bank before joining St. Mary’s. Nihill also has held leadership positions at Northeast Capital & Advisory in Albany, N.Y. In addition, St. Mary’s has announced that Kimberly Beck has joined the credit union as branch manager of the Perimeter Road office in Manchester. She previously worked as assistant manager of the TD Bank branch at the Nashua Mall.

Bonnie Leighton has joined Meredith Village Savings Bank as a mortgage loan originator at MVSB’s office at 2839 Lafayette Rd., Portsmouth.

Tara Mudgett has been promoted to vice president, enterprise risk management and audit liaison at New Hampshire Mutual Bancorp. Mudgett joined the IT department of Meredith Village Savings Bank in 2003 and eventually became vice president of IT operations in 2015.

Christopher Tomlinson has joined Merrimack County Savings Bank as vice president of commercial lending. He will be working out of the Concord and Hooksett offices.

Kevin Lasante has been named regional vice president of Merchants Insurance Group’s New England Office in Bedford. He succeeds Scott Behrent, who was recently promoted to Merchants’ vice president of national distribution.

Camille Madden, president of Manchester-based HarborOne Mortgage, has been named one of Mortgage Banker’s 2021 “Powerful Women of Mortgage Banking.” She serves on the advisory boards of the Mortgage Bankers and Brokers Association of New Hampshire, YMCA Downtown Manchester, Palace Theatre and the Algonquin Tennis Center.

Susan Ordway has joined New Hampshire Mutual Bancorp as vice president, digital banking officer, overseeing online and mobile banking services for customers of Merrimack County Savings Bank, Meredith Village Savings Bank and Savings Bank of Walpole.

Alison M. “Ali” Barker of Atkinson was recently promoted to branch manager of Haverhill Bank’s Salem branch.

Northeast Credit Union has announced the promotion of Maryanne Leahy to assistant vice president of indirect business development. Leahy has been with Northeast CU for more than four years.

Sean Rankin has joined Bank of New Hampshire as vice president and commercial banker.


Jessica Judd of Claremont has joined Bar Harbor Bank & Trust as assistant vice president, branch relationship manager for the bank’s Newport location. In addition, Katherine Paine of Sunapee has been promoted to branch relationship manager at Bar Harbor’s New London branch, and Brian Cheddar has been promoted to branch relationship manager at Bar Harbor Bank & Trust’s Hanover location.

ENGINEERING

Jennifer Lambert has been named director of environmental services at The Nobis Group, Concord. Lambert, a senior hydrogeologist and associate of the firm, has over 17 years of experience completing environmental investigation and remediation projects throughout New England.

BUSINESS ORGANIZATIONS

The Greater Concord Chamber of Commerce recently presented its 16th annual Pinnacle Awards, recognizing leaders in the business and nonprofit sectors. Winners were: Small Business of the Year, Constantly Pizza Inc.; Business of the Year, Associated Grocers of New England Inc.; Nonprofit Business of the Year, Best Buddies New Hampshire; Business Leader of the Year, Nicolette Clarke of Capitol Center for the Arts and Bank of New Hampshire Stage. Also recognized were Concord Young Professional of the Year Annika Stanley-Smith of Granite United Way of the Merrimack County Region; and the W. Grant McIntosh Volunteer of the Year, Josh Hardy of Concord TV.

The executive board of the Business and Industry Association has added five members to its board of directors: Susannah Chance, senior vice president of human resources, Work Opportunities Unlimited in Dover; Jim Faulhaber, plant manager, Osram Sylvania in Hillsboro; Bryan Granger, senior vice president, C&S Wholesale Grocers in Keene; Don Marsolini, chief financial officer, DECCO Inc. in Brookline; and Alex Walker, president and chief operating officer, Catholic Medical Center in Manchester.

ARCHITECTURE

The H.L. Turner Group has added three new professionals to its team of architects and engineers: Wafaa Aly, who specializes in complex projects and three-dimensional design, joins the firm as a senior project architect; Michael Anderson, joins the structural engineering team as a project engineer; David Vaccaro has been hired as a project designer.

REAL ESTATE

The sale of 5-7 Congress St., Nashua, has been announced by Mark Prolman of Prolman Realty Inc. He represented Acorn Family Realty LLC, the seller, and assisted 7 Congress LLC, the buyer.

The property consists of a 9,600-squarefoot office/warehouse building that was formerly the corporate headquarters of Maple Leaf Construction. Prolman also announced the sale of 76 Northeastern Blvd., Unit 36, Nashua, by MYRELL LLC to Bray Office Properties LLC.

Manchester-based True Storage has opened its fifth Class A self-storage facility in Bourne, Mass. The location, managed by CubeSmart Self Storage, is in a renovated former Grand Union supermarket, with 111,000 square feet and 1,033 units.

Bill Day of Center Harbor has joined Roche Realty Group’s Meredith office. A Lakes Region resident since 2015, he worked before that in Annapolis, Md., as a yacht broker, and before that was a district judge in the Philadelphia, Pa., area.

Roche Realty Group and Brook Hill Holdings have announced that work has begun at the site of Brook Hill at Meredith, a 70-unit townhouse community located off Route 3 Meredith. The new homes will feature over 2,200 square feet of living space and several luxury features, including granite countertops, hardwood floors, stainless steel appliances, high-end lighting and sunrooms.

TECHNOLOGY

Kemberton, a Portsmouth-based provider of technology-enabled revenue cycle management services to hospitals, has hired Deanna Gray as senior vice president of customer success. Prior to joining Kemberton, Gray held leadership roles in client delivery, operations and sales for Millennia, Change Healthcare and its predecessor entities of RelayHealth/McKesson and Avadyne Health.

Laconia-based Kanekt 365 has unveiled Kanektions, what it says is fully automated conversational AI order-taking software designed for drive-thru restaurants. The System uses voice recognition and is one of the first of its kind that assists restaurants with a faster and more accurate ordering process at the drive-thru, the company says. According to Kanekt, each call begins with voice recognition, and accuracy is confirmed by a system of checks and balances using both AI and human verification. Log-On Software of Bedford, an IBM business partner, has released Log-On Wave for IBM Z. The software simplifies the administration and operation of virtual Linux servers running on IBM Z and IBM LinuxONE with an intuitive graphical interface and intelligent functionality, the company said.

Portsmouth digital agency Raka has been recognized as a HubSpot diamond solutions partner. HubSpot is a software-as-aservice CRM platform that powers marketing, sales, customer service and other business operations for companies in 120 countries. Based in Cambridge, Mass., HubSpot has more than 113,000 customers and works hand-in-hand with partner agencies such as Raka to help businesses grow.

HEALTHCARE

Amoskeag Health has named Maureen Cassidy as its new chief nursing officer. She has over 20 years of clinical and leadership experience, most recently serving as nurse director at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center in Boston.

Better Life Partners has been named the 2021 Treatment Provider of the Year by the NH Providers Association. Selected as Prevention Provider of the Year was Lisa Vasquez, behavioral health strategist at the Nashua Division of Public Health and Community Services, and the Recovery Provider of the Year was Granite Pathways’ Strength to Succeed Program.

Fairview Senior Living has been recognized as a 2021 recipient of the Bronze Commitment to Quality Award by the American Health Care Association and National Center for Assisted Living for its commitment to improving the lives of residents through quality care.

Androscoggin Valley Hospital (AVH) and Upper Connecticut Valley Hospital, partners of North Country Healthcare, have added Dr. Patrick Golden, general surgeon, to their staff. Most recently, he was staff general surgeon at William Beaumont Army Medical Center, Fort Bliss, Texas.

Dr. Laura J. Tafe, associate professor of pathology and laboratory medicine at the Geisel School of Medicine and assistant director of the Center for Clinical Genomics and Advanced Technologies at Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center, has been elected as the president-elect of the Association for Molecular Pathology.

Goodwin Community Health has added four new resident physicians to its staff as it enters its second year as a professional outpatient home for a familymedicine residency program through a partnership between Seacoast Community Health and the Graduate Medical Education at Portsmouth Regional Hospital. The new residents are Nneka Adichie, who completed medical school at New York Institute of Technology College of Osteopathic Medicine; Ala’a Alrafati, who graduated from Edward Via College of Osteopathic Medicine; Eric Ouellette, who graduated from the University of Pikeville Kentucky College of Osteopathic Medicine; and Jacob Uber, who graduated from Western University of Health Sciences College of Osteopathic Medicine of the Pacific. Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center psychiatrist Dr. Mary F.

Brunette has been named Mental Health Professional of the Year by the New Hampshire chapter of the National Alliance on Mental Illness. The award is given annually to a mental health professional who goes above and beyond for those affected by mental illness and suicide.

CONSTRUCTION

Fremont-based Jewett Construction Company has hired Mike D’Anjou as a project manager. A certified Project Management Professional, D’Anjou has been in the construction industry for two decades. Jewett also has hired Alyson Phillips as an assistant project manager. She previously worked as a project coordinator at Boston-based Shawmut Construction. The firm also has added project accountant Kaylee Pingree to its team. Pingree previously worked as a staff accountant for Bauer Hockey.

A ceremonial groundbreaking was held June 23 to mark start of construction on 90 units of Red Oak Apartment Homes at 409 Elm Street in Manchester. The mixed-use development, scheduled for completion in the fall of 2022, will also include corporate headquarters for Red Oak and co-working office spaces. North Branch Construction of Concord is overseeing construction. Architect is Dennis Mires P.A. of Manchester and civil engineer is Keach-Nordstrom Associates of Bedford. In addition, JSN Associates of Portsmouth is providing structural engineering services. Mechanical and plumbing services are provided by Design Day Mechanicals Inc. of New Ipswich, and Electrical Systems Engineering Inc. of Derry is providing electrical engineering services.

The Southeast Land Trust of New Hampshire recently held a ground-breaking ceremony to celebrate construction of the Mathey Center for People and Nature at Burley Farms in Epping. The new center will serve as SELT’s permanent headquarters and will feature office and programming space to increase the group’s nature-based engagement. SELT is partnering with construction manager Chapman Construction/Design and Sheldon Pennoyer Architects on the two-story wood-frame building.

Paugus Properties held a ceremonial groundbreaking in May for its mixed-use project at 51 Elm St., Lakeport. This 50,000-square-foot building will feature retail space, apartments and condominium units along with a parking garage. The job site is around the corner from Paugus’ recently restored Lakeport Opera House event venue.

Four New Hampshire construction companies have received 2020 National AGC Safety Awards from the Associated General Contractors of America. The winners — Harvey Construction of Bedford, Hutter Construction of New Ipswich, Weaver Brothers Construction of Bow and Pike Industries of Belmont — were honored for safety records with no incidents.

Harvey has won the award, known as NASA, the past four years, and also received it in 2015. Hutter previously won the award in 2016 and 2018. Weaver Brothers won the award in 2007, 2010, 2011 and 2016. Pike previously earned the NASA in 2015 and 2016.

NONPROFITS

Rusty Mosca, managing director of Nathan Wechsler & Company, has been elected chair of Leadership New Hampshire’s board of trustees. He has served on the organization’s board of directors since 2017.

The Society for the Protection of New Hampshire Forests named Sarah Kern of Strafford as Creek Farm education program coordinator, based in Portsmouth at the newly renovated Forest Society Education Center at Creek Farm. In addition, the Forest Society has named Jack Minich of Gilsum conservation easement steward for the Forest Society’s southwestern region.

Meredith Village Savings Bank recently donated $5,000 to The Community School in Tamworth to support its 2021 summer camp program.

Catholic Charities NH has hired Jeff Lefkovich as its executive director of real estate and senior living development. He will oversee strategic development and planning of senior housing and living communities as the organization seeks to expand its senior living services programs. Lefkovich most recently was a managing member of real estate development for Heritage River Village Development LLC in Griswold, Conn.

Bangor Savings Bank has made a $5,000 contribution to NeighborWorks Southern New Hampshire in support of the organization’s HOMEteam program, which provides homeownership and financial wellness education and counseling services to New Hampshire residents.

The New Hampshire Alcohol and Drug Abuse Counselors Association recently received donations from NBT Bank, headquartered in Norwich, N.Y., and Town Fair Tire of East Haven, Conn. Both organizations have locations in the Concord area.

Elizabeth Covino, chief community relations officer at YMCA of Greater Nashua, has been elected president of The Rotary Club of Nashua. Bank of New Hampshire has donated $5,000 to the Organization for Refugee and Immigrant Success in support of its Fresh Start Food Cart. The organization’s mission is to aid in the resettlement of refugee and immigrant groups in New Hampshire by providing assistance, training, resources and opportunities that promote self-sufficiency.


Members of the Manchester Historic Association recently voted to approve four new board members: Jeffery Myrdek, a member of the MHA for several years and previously served on the board as a trustee for two terms; Jen Drociak, who has served on the Manchester Conservation Commission and currently sits on the Manchester Heritage Commission; Amanda Quinlan, a litigation associate at McLane Middleton in Manchester; and Benjamin Horton, assistant dean for first-year students and academic support services at Saint Anselm College.

New Hampshire Humanities is accepting applications from eligible organizations for Sustaining the Humanities Through the American Rescue Plan (SHARP) grants. The grants are intended to provide relief funds to humanities and cultural organizations impacted by the Covid-19 pandemic. They can be used to cover general operational expenses and/or support organization programs.

The NH Center for Nonprofits has announced the addition of two new members to its board of directors: Tom Cronin, director of government relations for the University System and the University of New Hampshire; and Thomas Blonski, president and chief executive officer of Catholic Charities New Hampshire.

The 40th Prouty ended its 2021 campaign with a record-breaking $4 million in support of cancer research and patient and family support services at Dartmouth-Hitchcock’s Norris Cotton Cancer Center. This year’s Prouty was a hybrid event with supporters participating virtually from June 1 to July 11.

The New England Foundation for the Arts has named Angie Lane, executive director of Red River Theatres in Concord, as a member of its board of directors.

Tamera Carmichael, executive director of the Partnership for Public Health, and Bryan L’Heureux, community health partnership coordinator at Dartmouth-Hitchcock, have joined the board of directors of the New Hampshire Public Health Association.

Cassidy Huckins, a CPA with Nathan Wechsler & Company, has joined the board of trustees of Red River Theatres, Concord.

The Humane Society for Greater Nashua raised over $133,000 at its annual dinner and auction event, held in June at Alpine Grove in Hollis.

TRANSPORTATION

Merchants Fleet, the fast-growing Hooksettbased national growing fleet management company, has launched what it calls AdoptEV service, an electric vehicle adoption tool designed to educate fleet managers and others through the electric vehicle purchase process. The company recently joined the Corporate Electric Vehicle Alliance, an initiative led by the sustainability nonprofit Ceres. CEVA promotes expansion and acceleration of EV production as well as the adoption of supportive policies and industry best practices.

BUSINESS AND CONSUMER SERVICES

Manchester-based Phaneuf Funeral Homes and Crematorium has acquired Wendell Butt Funeral Home in Penacook. Adding Wendell Butt “provides us the ability to expand the quality of service we provide to our community members across New Hampshire,” said Arthur “Buddy” Phaneuf, president and CEO.

Century Leasing Corp., Plaistow, has been named the first dealer in New England of Polar King Mobile small refrigerated trailers. Polar King Mobile produces 8- to 16-foot refrigerated trailers designed for outdoor and over-theroad use.

Hampton-based Planet Fitness Inc. has appointed Sherrill Kaplan as its chief digital officer. Most recently, Kaplan served as global marketing operations advisor for Advent International, a private equity firm.

Bloomin’ Blinds, a window treatment franchisor, has opened its first franchise in New Hampshire in Dover as part of expansion efforts throughout the Eastern Seaboard. The company, which offers window treatment sales, installation and repair services, said it plans to bring at least five new franchisees to the state over the next three to five years.

TELECOMMUNICATIONS

Mary Ellen Player has joined Consolidated Communications as the firm’s Manchesterbased vice president of market management. She will oversee market expansion and consumer sales for the company. Player most recently was city manager of Google Fiber Charlotte. She held other roles over her 13 years at Google, including as a special assistant to the Google/Motorola chief financial officer.
