
1. The Aviation Museum of New Hampshire at Manchester-Boston Regional Airport was recently awarded tax credits through the Community Development Finance Authority to bring student plane-building instruction to Farmington High School. Meredith Village Savings Bank recently purchased $5,000 in credits to support the effort.
2. Nashua charitable gaming business The Nash Casino, which is opening this winter, will include a fine dining restaurant, “Proper Chophouse & Cocktails,” offering craft cocktails, choice steaks and more than 1,000 bottles of wines. The 3,100-square-foot space with 137 seats will have floor-to-ceiling arched windows looking into the gaming floor, a 16-seat private dining room and a horseshoe bar. Also, the casino will feature two other restaurants, including the 101-seat Woodlands Café, serving breakfast, lunch and dinner.
3. David Dunbar, president and CEO of Standex International, rang the closing bell at the New York Stock Exchange on Dec. 18, celebrating 55 years since the Salem, NH-based company was listed on the NYSE in 1969. This makes it one of just 13.8% of companies remaining today that listed that year. Standex is a global manufacturer of food service equipment, electronics and hydraulics. 4. This year, the Meredith Village Savings Bank Fund at the New Hampshire Charitable Foundation awarded $114,933 to 42 nonprofits in the state, including money granted to 27 local agencies and 15 food pantries. The grants are in addition to MVSB’s annual contributions from donations, scholarships, sponsorships and employee volunteering. The fund has awarded over $2.1 million in grants to nonprofits and projects since 1997.
5. NBT Bank recently donated $5,000 to Neighbor-Works of Southern New Hampshire to support the organization’s homebuyer education and affordable housing programs. Regional NBT leadership and members of NeighborWorks gathered at the organization’s office in Manchester for a check presentation last month.
6. Merrimack County Savings Bank, or The Merrimack, collected 2,500 new and handmade mittens, gloves, hats and scarves in its Mitten Tree drive last month to distribute to local nonprofits. Additionally, the bank donated $6,500 to eight food pantries in the areas of the state it serves. 7. Littleton real estate agency Badger Peabody & Smith recently attended the Tampa Palms CEO Executive Forum in Florida, a yearly networking and discussion event for real estate brokers. The agency was selected for its brokers’ understanding of real estate trends, visions for the future and ability to implement beneficial strategies.
8. Salem restaurant Dreo Food and Drink recently celebrated its grand opening with a ribbon-cutting, facilitated by the Southern New Hampshire Chamber of Commerce. The new restaurant prides itself on its craft cocktails and offers soups, salads, sandwiches and flatbread pizza, among other menu items.
