1. Wentworth-Douglass Hospital awarded Portsmouth nonprofit Gather a $30,000 grant to support the Fresh Food Bus, a mobile fresh food market for food-insecure, underserved families. The bus makes about 14 stops monthly and sees use by an average of 40 families per visit to the hospital.


2 Manchester nonprofit Game Plan Sports received $38,481 after 10 days of charitable gaming fundraising at Filotimo Dover, the nonprofit announced May 20. The funds will support Game Plan’s programs providing strength and conditioning training to youth athletes, mentoring and life-enriching experiences beyond the playing field.


3. Littleton-based realty firm Badger Peabody & Smith was recently recognized as a top-performing broker, winning one of Crexi’s Platinum Broker Awards. Crexi, a commercial real estate platform, designates the award to the top percentage of brokers using Crexi based on factors like engagement, property search score, use and knowledge of the site’s marketing portal and deals closed on the site. This year, Crexi awarded 1,000 brokers including Badger Peabody & Smith, whose Andy Smith and Katy Soukup are pictured with the award.


4 The Boys & Girls Club of Greater Nashua (BCGN) held its annual Youth of the Year & Hall of Fame Celebration on May 8. Xiadani De Le Lima, 17, was named the 2024 Youth of the Year and will represent NH in the national Club competition. BGCN inducted Linda and Rich Lovering, Dr. Robert Moheban and Joe Maryanski into its Hall of Fame. BCGN also launched its “Power of YOUth” capital campaign to raise $10 million, $6.2 million of which had been raised by May 21.


5. Meredith Village Savings Bank donated $10,000 to the Laconia School District for a project to replace and upgrade playground equipment at Woodland Heights Elementary, Elm Street School and Pleasant Street School this summer. The upgrades will cost roughly $489,000 in total, and the district is now seeking to raise $239,000 in further donations through fundraising efforts.


6. Granite VNA’s 2024 Passion for Caring fundraising event generated over $68,000, supporting hospice services in 82 NH communities. The organization presented its Kay Sidway Award — for those devoted to education, nurturing and well-being of families in a Granite VNA community — to Jennifer Beetle, vice president of Patrick’s Pub and Eatery in Gilford. Outgoing Rep. Ann Kuster received the Legacy Award for what Granite VNA called “her, and her family’s, devotion to home care and hospice services” in the state.


7. More than $5,000 was raised at the Southern NH Chamber of Commerce’s recent 2024 Taste of Southern NH event. The money will be used for chamber initiatives like the Interview Challenge Competition and its Business Education Collaborative, as well as student scholarships. The event welcomed over 250 guests and featured over 28 chefs and food and dining establishments.
