1. Officials including Rep. Chris Pappas (NH-01) held a groundbreaking ceremony on April 24 for Manchester VA Medical Center’s new Women’s Health Clinic to replace the existing facility. The revamped clinic will offer women veteran patients more privacy and improved care, a larger space and more rooms.


2. The Southern NH Chamber of Commerce hosted its annual Economic Development Breakfast last month at Salem’s Artisan Hotel, welcoming businesses like Elm Grove Companies, Tuscan Brands and Arcadia Financial. Discussion surrounded topics like alternative energy, financial long-range planning, affordable housing and sustainable infrastructure development.


3. Representatives of Derry business Princess Jewelers visited Nashua private school World Academy over the past few months to teach students in the school’s 3D printing club about how their business makes use of the technology. Students in the club designed their own jewelry pendants, which Princess Jewelers printed and gave out to each student in mid-March.


4. More than 80 Concord-area businesses turned out to the Grappone Conference Center on April 16 to participate in the Greater Concord Chamber of Commerce’s 33rd annual Business Showcase event. Exhibitors included sectors ranging from IT services to skincare products and mental health services.


5. Construction began in April on Meredith Village Savings Bank’s future branch location in North Conway. The bank anticipates opening the location, at 1498 White Mountain Hwy., later this year or early next year. The new building was designed by Warrenstreet Architects of Concord, and Conneston Construction Inc. of Laconia is leading its construction.


6. Speare Memorial Hospital in Plymouth was recently awarded a provisional Adult & Pediatric Level IV Trauma Center designation by the NH Department of Safety. The hospital also received the designation for its Trauma Performance and Patient Safety Committee, which reviews cases, creates policies and ensures trauma patients are receiving current, evidence-based care.


7. The Greater Rochester Chamber of Commerce held a ribbon-cutting ceremony for Polychronis Financial Services on April 9 to celebrate the business’s expansion of services by way of a Series 65 securities license after Joe Polychronis, son of founder John Polychronis, joined the firm. The license gives the firm the ability to begin offering investments to clients looking to further diversify their market portfolios. Also joining the firm is John’s daughter, Stefanie, who’s introducing new services related to life insurance, annuity and strategic income planning.


8. Badger Peabody & Smith Realty donated $6,895.38 to AHEAD Inc. for 2023. AHEAD is a Littleton-based nonprofit housing group providing affordable apartments, financial literacy and homebuying counseling to families in need. The donation figure is based on the amount of interest generated from the escrow funds of buyers and sellers AHEAD works with, which Badger Peabody & Smith then matches at the end of each year.
