1. Theresa McKenney, director of sustainability and government affairs for Dover-based NEMO Equipment, testified in front of the U.S. Senate Budget Committee on March 20 to share a report on the effects of climate change on recreational industry businesses. 2. Bar Harbor Bank & Trust donated $2,000 to Twin Pines Housing, which serves the Upper Valley region of New Hampshire and Vermont, to support the organization’s supportive services program. The program provides residents in the region services like food access, job training and utility discounts.


3. Gov. Chris Sununu was honored with the Award for Inspired Leadership at Boston’s Edward M. Kennedy Institute on March 26, along with Maryland Gov. Wes Moore. The governors received the award for their “commitment to public service, policymaking and steadfast governance,” the Institute said. 4. Plaistow’s fire department recently received a new ambulance and celebrated its launch with a push-in ceremony, wherein department staff pushed the vehicle into the fire station, following a longtime tradition of receiving new equipment. Staff and their families, town officials, community members and employees of the Southern New Hampshire Chamber of Commerce also commemorated the event with a ribbon-cutting.


5. Meredith Village Savings Bank recently purchased $10,000 in tax credits for nonprofits through the Community Development Finance Authority’s Capacity Building Program. The program is a subset of CDFA’s Tax Credit Program focused on strengthening New Hampshire organizations committed to community economic development. The Capacity Building Program prioritizes projects that increase collaboration and resource organizations led by and supportive of priority populations and areas.


6. Easterseals NH held a beam signing event at Manchester’s new Gammon Academy School under construction. The Easterseals leadership and staff of the upcoming school left signatures and well wishes on a structural beam contractor North Branch Construction recently installed in at the site of the future institution. The completed two-story school will be 30,000 square feet with 15 classrooms each with restrooms.


7. For the second year, the NH Liquor Commission and Jack Daniel’s Tennessee Whiskey have partnered for a second time to run their “Bring Back Jack” campaign during Earth Month. On specific days across six NHLC Outlet locations from April 6 to May 11, customers can return and recycle empty glass wine and spirits bottles to earn product discounts depending on the number of bottles returned. The bottles will be taken to Massachusetts processing facility Recycleworks where workers will crush them into glass cullet to be reused, as pictured.
