FINANCIAL technology company SmartAsset recently reported in a study that Rockingham County has the lowest tax burden in New Hampshire, and Coos has the highest burden. Meanwhile, WalletHub reports that the state overall has the second-lowest tax burden nationally, including having the lowest sales and excise tax burden.

A majority (73%) of Americans are open to living in tiny homes — houses under 500 square feet — Fortune 500 company IPX1031 has found. Out of 1,010 people, 89% feel the current housing market makes tiny homes appealing, though only 35% expressed interest in living in them long-term. Vermont is the state with the greatest interest in tiny homes, while Maine is fourth and New Hampshire ranks eighth.

PERSONAL finance analysts Wealth of Geeks found New Hampshire has the second-lowest university enrollment population at the beginning of the 2023 academic year, behind Alaska. Just 2.39% of Granite Staters were enrolled in higher education, totaling 17,506 people out of the state’s total 1.4 million.

CITIZENS Financial Group surveyed over 530 decision-makers of small to mid-sized U.S. businesses in January, finding that a third of small and mid-sized businesses see private equity as a source of current or future partnership and funding. Of those surveyed, 61% said their company expects hiring new employees this year, and 40% anticipate hiring more than in 2023.

RETAIL bank customers in the U.S. are losing faith in their institutions, a J.D. Power study recently found. As many as 13% of customers say they are likely to switch banks in the next 12 months. Among those, 29% say it’s due to being charged too many or high fees for services, and 26% cite poor service experiences. In New England, Bangor Savings Bank had the highest customer satisfaction for the seventh year in a row.
