NEW HAMPSHIRE FILM FESTIVAL

WHERE: The Music Hall, 8 Chestnut St., Portsmouth

WHAT: Four days of independent filmmaking, discussions and educational opportunities will once again descend upon Portsmouth, offering more than 100 feature films, documentaries and short films to the public. The festival brings together screening venues across the city, including The Music Hall Historic Theater, The Music Hall Lounge, 3S Artspace, The Press Room and more, showcasing a variety of films from established and emerging filmmakers.

GRANITEER FESTIVAL

WHERE: Dow Field, 1-199 Academy St., Franconia

WHAT: GRANITEER is a first-of-its kind outdoor lifestyle festival that shares the experience-based way of life in New Hampshire. The event combines campers, hikers, runners, cyclists, skiers, climbers, workers, freelancers, employers, second careerists and service professionals during a weekend of family fun, craft beer, inspiration, live music, outdoor recreation education and adventure. There will be a marketplace where you can shop for gear, test the latest e-bikes and score discounts on kayaks, skis and camping equipment from New Hampshire brands. Plus, New Hampshire resident Joe Samba will be headlining the music stage on Saturday night.

FUNDRAISER

END 68 HOURS OF HUNGER EVENT

WHEN: Friday, Sept. 29, 6:30 p.m.

WHERE: The Brook, 319 New Zealand Road, Seabrook

WHAT: End 68 Hours of Hunger will celebrate 12 years as a nonprofit devoted to feeding food-insecure children. In celebration, an event will be help in September with Claire Bloom, the founding volunteer executive director, who will formally turn over the management of the organization to Katherine A. Roman. Attendees will include present and former members of the board of directors, program coordinators, donors, volunteers, beneficiaries and other supporters. The event will include a presentation of Claire’s recent TED Talk, delivered at TED X Portsmouth back in June.

ANNUAL SUPERHERO 5K AND KIDS FUN RUN

WHAT: Rett’s Roost invites residents, visitors and businesses alike to join them on the beach for their fourth annual, family-friendly, costume-themed event at Main Beach during Ogunquitfest weekend. Rett’s Roost is an organization that supports families of children with cancer through psychosocial support and therapeutic programming, and this event will raise funds for their mission and honor the families in the pediatric cancer community.
