ADVERTISING AND MARKETING

Millennium Agency has earned recertification with the Women’s Business Enterprise National Council as a Women’s Business Enterprise, which allows woman-led businesses to market to major companies and stakeholders seeking work with more diverse businesses.


BUSINESS ORGANIZATIONS

Jason Riley, Northeast Division manager for Maine Drilling & Blasting, Auburn, has been elected president of the NH Good Roads Association, which represents individuals and businesses involved in the state’s infrastructure. Riley, who has worked at Maine Drilling & Blasting since 1994, is active in several other industry and professional organizations, including the Associated General Contractors of New Hampshire.

The Greater Manchester Chamber of Commerce has hired Kathleen Procek as its new director of investor engagement, the first of its kind in the chamber’s history. She was most recently Dartmouth Health Children’s senior events and engagement coordinator, with experience at Cookson Communications and the NH Tech Alliance.

Aroma Joe’s has opened a new location in Keene, owned and operated by franchisee Aaron Wiswell. The 796 square-foot drivethru location offers coffee and espresso drinks, unique flavor infusions, AJ’s RUSH Energy Drinks and all-day food options.


REAL ESTATE

The Boulos Company’s Drew Sigfridson and Kent White represented Hannaford Bros. Co. LLC in the sale of 829 and 831–833 Central Ave., Dover, to Calico Properties LLC for $3.7 million. The sale includes a 62,235-square-foot retail box store that was formerly occupied by Ames Department Store and a freestanding Papa Gino’s restaurant. Sigfridson and White said the buyer owns several other properties in the area and believes the location has good redevelopment potential for either retail, general office or medical services.


BUSINESS SERVICES

Exeter-based Goodwin Recruiting has been named one of the Best Places to Work in 2023 as part of Glassdoor’s Employees’ Choice Awards in the small and medium business category.


MANUFACTURING

Alene Candles, a private-label candle and home fragrance manufacturer in Milford, has promoted 10 of their employees at its Milford facility: Gabriela Sanchez, senior manufacturing engineer; Mallory Sirois, senior production supervisor; Steven, senior logistics manager; Aaron Prough, business applications manager; Anthony Gengo, lead senior accountant; Kayla Workman, business systems analyst; Jonathan, wick technician; Christopher Mayotte, logistics team leader; Denise Dragon, senior production scheduler; and Jennifer, QA specialist.

Dover-based NEMO Equipment, a designer of outdoor gear and accessories, has created its first recyclable sleeping bag with the Forte Men’s and Women’s 20F/35F series. The first product in their Endless Promise program, the brand’s goal is to cut emissions intensity in half by 2030 by taking responsibility for the entire life cycle of each product. Every Endless Promise item is designed to be repairable, resellable and recyclable to keep it out of the landfill.


CONSTRUCTION

Flag Hill Distillery in Lee has broken ground for a 5,000-square-foot building to house its distillery production as well as a tasting room and store. The new distillery will house a new still for Flag Hill, increasing volume and allowing it to create spirits while increasing energy efficiency. Flag Hill will also provide co-packing services to other distillers. The main stages of construction are expected to be completed by fall, said Brian Ferguson, Flag Hill’s owner and founder.

Fire Equipment Inc., a full-service fire protection provider, has opened a new location at 78 Londonderry Turnpike in Hooksett. The company has seven office locations throughout New England, and services, installs, designs and repairs fire alarm systems, sprinklers, kitchen suppression, clean agent systems, fire extinguishers, and alarm monitoring. FEI works with many customers, including but not limited to healthcare facilities, educational institutions, manufacturing, office buildings, power plants, resorts, restaurants and new construction.

Hooksett-based Outdoor Pride Landscape & Snow Management recently promoted three employees and added a new member to the leadership team. Dylan Clark, the company’s new financial controller, previously worked as an audit supervisor at Baker Newman Noyes; Degen Kelly, director of operations, has worked for Outdoor Pride as area manager of New Hampshire; Ross Roberge, new area manager of New Hampshire properties, joined the company in 2021 as an operations manager in New Hampshire; and Ron Nestor, the new area manager of Massachusetts properties, also joined the company in 2021 as an account manager.

DEW Construction has announced the promotion of Dan Riley to vice president of operations, Chris Bertrand to vice president of field operations, Ben Laflam to superintendent, Josh Deutsch to project engineer and Chantel Crawford to marketing specialist. In addition, DEW has hired Kamron Bushway as safety manager, project managers Kevin Hoard and David Dalton, assistant superintendent Andrew Hoogeboom, and accounts payable associates JoAnne Silloway and Alex Chappell.


FINANCIAL SERVICES

NH Mutual Bancorp has appointed new corporators: Elana Baron, an attorney with Bragdon, Baron & Kossayda; Cara Burzynski, president of AeroDynamics and Revolution Scientific; Caitlin Caserta, co-owner of Walpole Valley Farms, The Hungry Diner and The Inn at Valley Farms; Alona Florenz, senior vice president, corporate development and financial planning and analysis for C&S Wholesale Grocers; Whitney Gagnon, an attorney with McLane Middleton; and Beth San Soucie, deputy director of Clean Energy NH.

Tyler White has joined St. Mary’s Bank as chief information officer, where he will lead activities in the areas of technology, operations, data analytics, digital engagement, business application and project management.

Nicole Biron has joined Northwestern Mutual as financial representative. Previously, she was a territory manager at Reynolds American Inc. in Boston, Mass.

NHTrust recently promoted Debbie Irwin to vice president, marketing officer. She had been with the organization since 2011, holding various roles including the most recent as AVP marketing officer.


GOVERNMENT

Conduent Inc.’s advanced cloud-based system has been implemented by the NH Department of Health and Human Services to process child support payments. The company said the new system, which supports over 31,000 families, adds automated processes for the department’s State Disbursement Unit (SDU), which securely receives and distributes child support payments via debit cards, electronic deposits or checks. The project is part of a 10-year contract renewal.

The NH Division of Historical Resources has announced that the town of Harrisville has achieved Certified Local Government designation. The CLG program in New Hampshire promotes the preservation of prehistoric and historic sites, structures, objects, buildings and districts by establishing a partnership with local governments. As a CLG, Harrisville will be able to gain access to expertise and resources related to historic preservation at both the state and federal levels.


HEALTHCARE

Will Sherman has joined the Center for Asthma, Allergy and Respiratory Disease in North Hampton, where he will oversee the pulmonary rehab program. In addition to working with patients with asthma, COPD and other respiratory illnesses, Sherman will also assist Dr. Mark Windt, medical director, in his research.

ENGINEERING

Horizons Engineering Inc., Littleton, has added three employees: Jack Young, a licensed senior engineer with 12 years of experience in the structural design of residential and commercial projects using timber, concrete and steel; Travis Letellier, licensed in multiple states and a senior engineer with 18 years of experience in Maine, New Hampshire and Massachusetts; and Rachel Hastings, an engineer in training who has published several technical papers detailing her experience and knowledge of stormwater engineering and drainage calculation with the U.S. Army Engineer Research & Development Center and the University of New Hampshire.


LAW

The Manchester-based law firm of Devine Millimet has added three corporate of counsel attorneys to the firm. They are: Richard J. Schoepke, who has extensive knowledge of estate planning, including wills, trusts, power of attorneys and more; Laura J. Gandia, a member of the firm’s real estate team, who specializes in complex planning and zoning issues, municipal government affairs and land use; and Graeme S.R. Brown, who has expertise in acquisitions, business financing and commercial real estate.


NONPROFITS

Nobis Group President and CEO Kenneth Koornneef was named Volunteer of the Year by CATCH Neighborhood Housing during the nonprofit’s Annual Event, “Making Community Home,” held in March at The Barn at Bull Meadow in Concord. The award is presented to individuals who demonstrate a commitment to CATCH, a community-based organization focused on providing a full spectrum of much-needed housing and education services in Merrimack County. CATCH presented several other awards during the event: Concord Planning Division, 2023 Community Collaborator of the Year; Sheehan Phinney Bass + Green, 2023 Business Partner of the Year; Robert Tourigny, executive director of NeighborWorks Southern New Hampshire, Helen M. Greene Visionary Award; and Arthur F. Casavant III, Rosemary M. Heard Housing Champion Award.

Granite State Independent Living has added Anne L. Vallette, benefits consultant at CGI Business Solutions, to its board of directors.



After more than a year in development, Spaulding Academy & Family Services has launched its Permanency Team led by Cheryl Consoletti and Ashley Fenimore, who will work collaboratively with children, their families, healthcare providers, community resources, the child’s School Administrative Unit (SAU), as well as state departments, to ensure that the child has access to needed services and support throughout treatment and following discharge.

The Foundation for New Hampshire Community Colleges recently appointed Mike Ambrogi, senior technology fellow at Novocure Inc., to its board of directors. He will support the foundation’s mission of increasing access and lessening financial barriers to those seeking a community college education in New Hampshire.

The Seacoast Mental Health Center received a $1,000 donation from Newburyport Bank as part of Mental Health Awareness Month in May. The center will also hold community events in Hampton, Exeter and Portsmouth to drive awareness of their services available on the Seacoast.

Manchester Bishop Peter A. Libasci has named Sean Feren, Veritiv Corporation’s enterprise account executive, and Elizabeth Feren, Catholic Medical Center’s healthcare strategy consultant, as co-chairs of the Bishop’s Charitable Assistance Fund’s 2023 campaign. Now in its 38th year, the BCAF has raised and distributed more than $7.4 million to assist organizations that work to improve the quality of life of individuals and families in NH.

Lakes Region Community Developers has announced that the law firm of Sheehan Phinney is its Housing Champion for April. The Housing Champion program recognizes companies committed to LRCD’s mission of creating new affordable housing opportunities. LRCD features a different housing champion each month.

AHEAD Inc., the Littleton-based nonprofit developer of affordable housing, has been awarded $500,000 in tax credits through the NH Community Development Finance Authority to support construction of the Peeling Village project in Woodstock. Peeling Village will consist of 29 units in two buildings: a 20-unit, three-story apartment block and a nine-unit, two-story townhomestyle apartment block. Construction is expected to start in mid-2024 pending remaining funding approvals, with units being available in mid to late 2025.

Harbor Care has received a $10,000 donation from M&T Bank in support of the nonprofit’s efforts to end veteran homelessness in New Hampshire.

Christine Louis named NHPR’s veep of development

Christine Louis has joined NH Public Radio as its new vice president of development, overseeing the media outlet’s membership, corporate sponsorship and major giving divisions as part of its leadership team.

For the past 32 years, she has held various roles in development capacities at The Holderness School, The Greater Worcester Community Foundation, the Currier Museum of Art, the Tilton School, and most recently for the College of Engineering and Physical Sciences at the University of New Hampshire.
