1. Bank of America, Bellwether Community Credit Union, the New London Inn and The Factory on Willow were announced as the winners of this year’s New Hampshire Business Committee for the Arts Awards. The winners were recognized for their outstanding support of the arts and culture through donations of time, money and resources to benefit their communities, individual artists as well as arts organizations in and around New Hampshire. Other recipients included Artist James Chase, who was awarded the Bayberry Financial Services Artrepreneur Award, and The Andres Institute of Art in Brookline received the Northeast Delta Dental Artsbuild Community Award.
2. The Upper Valley Business Alliance named nine businesses “Business of the Year” at their Upper Valley Leadership Awards on May 17, who showed exceptional business practice, innovation and conduct during the Covid-19 pandemic.
Winners were: Jon Hunt, executive director of Whaleback Mountain; King Arthur Baking Company; Norwich Bookstore; Meagan Henry, program coordinator at the Lebanon Parks, Recreation and Arts department; Mac’s Maple; SILO Distillery; Alice Peck Day Memorial Hospital; Upper Valley Haven; and Jennifer Karr, master trainer at the River Valley Club. 3. Hannaford Supermarkets has teamed up with Volta Charging, the industry leader in electric vehicle (EV) charging stations, to bring clean EV charging energy to New Hampshire, beginning with the Hannaford store located at 201 John E Devine Drive in Manchester. They are the first stations introduced to New Hampshire, with plans to expand to 31 stores throughout the Northeast. 4. Eversource Energy supported the YMCA of Greater Nashua with a $1,500 donation toward scholarship assistance for children to attend the Early Education Center. Connor Jennings, community relations specialist from Eversource Energy, visited the Center at the Merrimack YMCA and read a book to students in the Y’s Wildcat Preschool Room. 6. Meredith Village Savings Bank recently sponsored the Homeless Center for Strafford County’s “Home for Now” event on June 2 with a $5,000 donation. The event recognized the organization’s success of their new building and their work to house families in need.
