WITH growing energy demand and rising carbon dioxide emissions, more Americans are pushing for alternative sources such as wind and solar. According to a Pew Research Center study, 69 percent of American adults favor the U.S. taking steps to become carbon neutral by 2050. But 67 percent say the U.S. should continue to use a mix of fossil fuels and renewable energy sources.

IN that same study, 75 percent of adults support the United States’ participation in international efforts to reduce the effects of climate change, but 36 percent conclude that the U.S. is doing less than other countries in that effort.

ABOUT seven-in-10 Americans think young adults today have a harder time than their parents’ generation when it comes to saving for the future (72 percent), paying for college (71 percent) and buying a home (70 percent), according to a Pew Research Center survey conducted in October 2021.

THAT same study found that 55 percent of 18- to 29-year-olds say finding a job is harder for young adults today than it was for their parents’ generation. Thirty-nine percent of those ages 30 to 49 and 33 percent of those 50 and older say the same about young adults.
