1 Monadnock Humane Society (MHS) has purchased a new van, thanks to community support from Subaru of Keene and donors Dale Moore and Debora Haskel. The former MHS van was not safe to drive and did not pass inspection. Fenton Family Dealerships found a van for MHS to use so they could continue their mission helping the community with animal cruelty investigations, picking up/delivering pet food to those in need, transporting pets to MHS from their other shelter partners and in many other ways. 2 The Great Northwoods Community Foundation, a collaboration of Androscoggin Valley Hospital and Coos County Family Health Services, recently contributed $20,000 to the City of Berlin and $20,000 to the Town of Gorham to support the advancement of local recreation and wellness-related projects. Since 2019, the Great Northwoods Community Foundation has helped reduce hospital readmissions and healthcare costs by providing resources intended to improve the overall health and wellbeing of residents in the region. 3 The first annual Run for Justice 5K raised more than $37,600 to support the work of New Hampshire Legal Assistance (NHLA) and 603 Legal Aid. NHLA and 603 Legal Aid provide civil legal aid to prevent homelessness, domestic abuse and income instability for people with low incomes who cannot afford an attorney.

4 NeighborWorks Southern New Hampshire was among 20 recipients of the HarborOne Foundation’s recent grant round totaling $195,000 in awards. The grant will help support the delivery of homeownership and financial wellness education seminars and one-on-one counseling through HOMEteam. In addition, Manchesterbased Webster House received a $5,000 grant to help provide food, medical supplies, hygiene products and clothing for children living at Webster House. 5 Merrimack County Savings Bank has announced the winners of their annual photo contest. Selected photos will be featured in the community calendar as well as on the bank’s website and social media. Images will also be included in desk calendars, holiday cards and note cards. Complimentary calendars will be available to the public during the late fall in the bank’s branch offices.
