ACCOUNTING

The New Hampshire Society of Certified Public Accountants has announced its slate of officers for the 2021-22 fiscal year: president, Kerrin A. Rounds, chief financial officer, Department of Health and Human Services; president-elect, Karen Lascelle, senior manager, Plodzik & Sanderson; treasurer, Jason M. Beiswenger, senior manager, Wipfli LLP; secretary, Kerry L. Lekas, managing member, Dufresne & Lekas CPA; director, Jessica S. Bouchard, audit senior manager, Baker Newman Noyes. In addition, Jonathan D. Nash, an assistant professor at the University of New Hampshire, has joined the board as its newest director.

FINANCIAL SERVICES

NHTrust has hired Kelly Brown as assistant vice president, trust administration manager. Prior to joining NHTrust, Brown was responsible for providing wealth management services to clients throughout New York City, Long Island and Fairfield County in Connecticut.

Savings Bank of Walpole has announced the promotion of Kristen Noonan to community engagement assistant. Since joining the bank as a teller in 2006, she has also served as a retail banker, consumer loan administrator, loan operations specialist and, most recently, mortgage post-closing coordinator.

Robert Bonfiglio, a private wealth advisor with Rise Private Wealth Management, Bedford, and occasional columnist for NH Business Review, has earned membership in Ameriprise Financial Services’ Hall of Fame. Introduced in 1986, the Hall of Fame is designed to recognize professionals who have achieved years of consistently high performance. It is considered a lifetime achievement award. Bonfiglio has over 30 years of experience with Ameriprise Financial.

Claremont Savings Bank plans to open a full-service branch at 106 North Main St., an expansion into the heart of the Upper Valley, this summer. Claremont Savings has had a loan production office in West Lebanon for the past three years, but has decided to open a full-service branch because of the number of people who live in Claremont and work in the Lebanon area, the bank says. Claremont Savings Bank currently has branches in Claremont, Charlestown and Springfield, Vt.

BUSINESS ORGANIZATIONS

Former Dover City Councilor Matt Mayberry has been named the new executive director of the NH Home Builders Association. Mayberry, a longtime Realtor with 25 years of real estate and development experience, is also a former commissioner of the New Hampshire Human Rights Commission and a former candidate for the Republican nomination in the 1st Congressional District. Mayberry was chosen from over 70 candidates, said the organization’s interim president, Joe Harnois of Atlantic Builders Supply.

Business and Industry Association has announced its new slate of officers. Officers approved by the membership for one-year terms are: chair, Sheryl McQuade, regional president of TD Bank’s Northern New England Region; chair-elect, Tom Jokerst, general manager of Anheuser-Busch’s plant in Merrimack; past chair, Andrew Curland, CEO and president of Vitex Extrusion; treasurer, Karl Heafield, principal, Baker Newman Noyes; secretary, Scott Ellison, partner, Cook Little Rosenblatt and Manson; and Jim Roche, president, Business and Industry Association. Members also approved three new members to the Executive Committee: Heather Staples Lavoie, president and CEO, Geneia; Jim Dean, president, University of New Hampshire; and Curtis Simard, president & CEO, Bar Harbor Bank & Trust.

CONSTRUCTION

Arthur Rose, owner of A.W. Rose Construction of Manchester, has been appointed to the State Building Code Review Board. Nominated by Associated General Contractors of NH, Rose will represent the association as a non-residential building contractor. The appointment is for a three-year term.


North Branch Construction, Concord, has announced the addition of Richard LeVinus, Daniel Salmonson and Katie St. Jean to the company. LeVinus joins the firm as safety director. Salmonson has been hired as a project superintendent, and St. Jean has joined the firm as receptionist.


Construction industry veterans Dennis O’Neil and Mark Small have joined Structure Tone in Salem. A senior estimator, O’Neil has managed commercial, industrial and residential projects. A senior project manager, Small worked for Structure Tone’s sister company Govan Brown in Toronto, for over five years.

Michael Cook has joined Kalwall as a sales representative covering metro Boston and the South Shore of Massachusetts. He has over 15 years of experience in architectural- and construction-related sales and was most recently territory sales manager for Oldcastle Infrastructure.

MEDIA

WMUR-TV has earned four regional Edward R. Murrow Awards, including one for overall excellence. The station also won for continuing coverage for its “Commitment 2020” political reporting, as well as excellence in video and sports reporting.

LAW

Attorney Margaret “Peg” O’Brien has joined McLane Middleton as a director in the litigation department and a member of the Employment Law Practice Group. She currently serves as chair of the Granite YMCA and is a member of the New Hampshire Public Defender Program.

HEALTHCARE

Bi-State Primary Care Association has announced the winners of its 2021 Bi-State Awards: NH Board of Directors’ Chair Award, State of New Hampshire’s Epidemiology Team, Dr. Benjamin Chan, Dr. Elizabeth Talbot and Elizabeth R. Daly; NH Public Service Award, Dr. Trinidad Tellez, former director, Office of Health Equity, NH Department of Health and Human Services; 2021 Outstanding Clinician Award: Dr. William Gessner, Coos County Family Health Services; Community Service Award, Trent Smith, chair, Harbor Care Health and Wellness Oversight Committee; Hunt Blair, Leadership Award, and Scott Schuler, Covid-19 incident commander, Strafford County and Seacoast Public Health Network’s Emergency Operations.

Melville, N.Y.-based Professional Physical Therapy has acquired PRO Sports Physical Therapy of Scarsdale, N.Y. Professional Physical Therapy operates across five of the Northeast states, including New Hampshire.

EDUCATION

Tom Boucher, CEO and owner of Great New Hampshire Restaurants Group, has been named to the board of trustees of Franklin Pierce University, Rindge.

The High Mowing School, Wilton, has named Katherine C. Meyer its new head of school. Meyer, who attended the school from 1986 to 1990, has been the school’s director of finance and operations since 2016.

Five Plymouth State University (PSU) finance and accounting students recently placed in the top 50 of the ETF Challenge, a 10-week global portfolio competition. Each week, almost 1,000 students from 253 U.S. and 172 international colleges compiled simulated portfolios of between four and 10 exchange-traded products and were ranked based on their investment performance. The PSU competitors were: Stephen Coughlin, who finished 11th; Annie Heller, 16th; Linus Lindberg, 23rd; Matthew Bodi, 31st; and Bruce Thibeault, 49th. All are seniors.

ENGINEERING

Nobis Group, an employee-owned engineering consulting firm, recently awarded scholarships to two 2021 high school graduates: Edmire Kabia of Lowell (Mass.) High School and Neil Kachappilly of Nashua High School South. They are pursuing higher education in the fields of civil engineering and environmental engineering, respectively.

NONPROFITS

Four nonprofit organizations in New Hampshire will receive funds to help those they serve make informed financial decisions through a set of grants announced by Citizens Bank through its Citizens Helping Citizens Manage Money program. Awarded grants were Girl Scouts of the Green & White Mountains for its Cookie Program, which provides education for girls around financial literacy, entrepreneurship and business basics; Granite YMCA for its financial literacy enrichment activities that teach socially responsible money management; NeighborWorks Southern New Hampshire for its HOMEteam program, which provides financial wellness, homebuyer and homeowner post-purchase education and counseling services; and Granite United Way for its 2021 Volunteer Income Tax Assistance program.

NH Lakes has hired Kaitlyn Kelleher as its conservation program assistant. She previously was an educational coordinator at the New Hampshire Fish and Game Department. MoCo Arts, Keene, has named four new members to its board of directors: Maria Bradshaw, a returning board member; Shaun Filiault, an attorney at Bragdon, Baron & Kossayda in Keene; Gordon Kendall, a director of product management at Vertafore; and Amy Wright, director of administration at Keene Housing.

Berlin, Vt.-based Aspire Living & Learning has received a $5,000 grant from Northeast Delta Dental Foundation to support dental health initiatives for the people the agency supports in New Hampshire.

REAL ESTATE

Prolman Realty has announced the sale of 110-114 W. Pearl St., Nashua, to 110-114 West Pearl Street LLC. Mark Prolman represented the seller, The Youth Council, and assisted the buyer of the three-story brick building, which has 3,138 square feet of retail space occupied by Codex and another 6,432 square feet of office space on the second and third floors. Bill O’Brien of West Pearl Street LLC says he intends to lease 3,216 square feet to his software company, RegDox Solutions Inc. Sale price was $645,000. As for the Youth Council, Prolman announced the sale of Unit 9-10 at 74 Northeastern Blvd. to the organization. Prolman’s Lisa Ferrari, who represented the seller, Robrich Realty LLC, and assisted the buyer, said the 4,800-square-foot office condominium is the new headquarters for The Youth Council.

Ledgewood Phase II, which consists of 18 parcels ranging in price from $199,000 to $450,000 and is set on some 800 acres in Bethlehem, has sold out, Peabody & Smith Realty announced. First opened in the fall of 2020, Phase II was sold out in less than six months, said Andy Smith, broker/owner at Peabody & Smith.

HOSPITALITY

Montcalm Golf Club, Enfield, has hired Darin Perry as its new food and beverage manager and executive chef. He most recently spent 10 years at the Hanover Inn.

TECHNOLOGY

New London-based Orange Photonics has released a new mobile monitoring feature for its LightLab 3 Cannabis Analyzer that it says gives users the ability to track sample test progress and view results from a smartphone. The company also said the analyzer can now monitor Delta-8 THC (D8-THC), a popular cannabinoid found in hemp-derived cannabis products that is often hard to distinguish from another cannabinoid, D9-THC, since they are similar in structure, said Dylan Wilks, Photonics’ chief technology officer.

Peter Richard has been promoted to general manager of XMA Corp., Manchester, overseeing day-to-day operations of the facility. A 15-year employee of XMA, he “has provided leadership talent and senior staff guidance that has allowed XMA to grow into new markets, new product development activities and undertake major fiduciary programs,” said XMA CEO Marc E. Smith. The company is a global supplier of RF Microwave components.

SilverTech, a digital marketing and web development agency based in Manchester, has announced the release of KuberaDX, a software-as-a-service content management platform built for banks and credit unions. The turnkey platform is designed to assist smaller financial institutions in providing their customers with an improved digital experience on their website, while staying within constrained budgets due to the pandemic.

TELECOMMUNICATIONS

Actifai, an AI softwareas-a-service provider for cable and telecom companies, has partnered with Atlantic Broadband, which will monitor Actifai’s web-based tools for sales, retention and care agents. Atlantic Broadband is the eightlargest cable operator in the nation and serves several communities in New Hampshire.

TRANSPORTATION

Brendan P. Keegan, CEO of Merchants Fleet, Hooksett, has been accepted into the Newsweek Expert Forum, a professional organization through which speakers, authors and experts share strategic insights and analysis. in addition, John Korte has been hired as Merchants Fleet’s director of last mile and mobility sales.

Most recently, Korte led the business development efforts at Arity.

Off Lease Auto Mall has opened a 20,000-square-foot facility in the former Toys “R” Us building at 2 Keller St. in Manchester. The dealership is owned by Vicki Marcinkevich, owner and operator of Team Nissan in Manchester.

ADVERTISING AND MARKETING

EVR Advertising, Manchester, has added Meadow Ridge, a continuing care retirement community based in Redding, Conn., to its client roster. Meadow Ridge is a newly acquired community within the Benchmark Senior Living organization. Boldwerks, Portsmouth, has announced it will be opening a second office in Covington, La. Co-founder and art director Adam Kaufmann said the expansion to the area outside of New Orleans has been in the works for over six months.

ARCHITECTURE

Steven M. Caulfield of Turner Building Science & Design, part of the Concord-based H.L. Turner Group, has been selected as one of the 2020 recipients of the American Industrial Hygiene Association Best Seller Award for his work on the publication, “Recognition, Evaluation, and Control of Indoor Mold.” The award is presented to the editor of a new publication that sold the most copies during the past year.
