New Hampshire consumers say they’ll be spending more money on travel and eating at restaurants after the pandemic. A poll of 1,743 New Hampshire residents conducted by the University of New Hampshire’s Survey Center asked participants about how they anticipated spending their money once the pandemic is over. Respondents said they wanted to visit attractions like museums and theme parks and planned to keep visiting state parks and beaches. Younger adults were most interested in getting back to museums and theme parks, with 78% of respondents telling the pollsters they anticipated spending more at paid attractions. Some 60% of people between ages 35 and 49 said they expect to travel more and plan to spend more on hotel stays or other accommodations. People over 65 said they plan to go back to inrestaurant dining and shopping. Two-thirds of people over 65 said they planned to spend more at restaurants once the pandemic ends, and more than half plan to spend more at retail stores. Only 10% of respondents said they think they will spend more on restaurant takeout — and 3% of people aged 18 to 34 plan to up their takeout consumption. — JEFF FEINGOLD See also
