Nashua-based Melanson Heath has changed its name to Melanson, a rebranding strategy that the accounting firm says reflects the evolution of the company as well as its vision for the future.

The regional accounting firm of Nathan Wechsler & Company has announced the addition of Daniel Kravitz to its team. Kravitz’s specializations include IRS representation, multistate taxation, and estate and gift tax.

Pembroke-based Business Transition Strategies has joined the Cornerstone International Alliance as a founding partner. Mulholland Metal Restoration has opened for business at 787 S. Stark Highway in Weare. Mulholland is a full metal restoration company that cleans and preserves all types of metal. It applies rustconversion coatings and rust-preventive coatings that are designed to extend the life of metal products.

DraughtPick.com, a website designed to help local breweries in New Hampshire and surrounding states to connect craft brew consumers and breweries, has been launched. “As Covid-19 restrictions forced a new way for those businesses to interact with their customers, there was no single place to see which breweries were offering any given service.

We wanted to bring all of this information into a single, easyto-navigate place to give those breweries the best chance to succeed during the most challenging time this industry has ever faced,” said founder Michael Moore.

The Chamber Collaborative of Greater Portsmouth recently elected officers for the coming year: chair, Daniel Innis, professor of marketing and hospitality management at the University of New Hampshire; vice chair, Monte Bohanan, director of marketing and communications at The Music Hall; and treasurer, John Crisp, vice president, commercial loan portfolio officer at First Seacoast Bank.

Oreste “Rusty” Mosca, managing director of Concord-based Nathan Wechsler & Company, has been elected chair of Leadership New Hampshire. Mosca has served as a member of the organization’s board of directors since 2015.

Ned Roosevelt of Sugar Hill is among 15 newest graduates of the Rhode Islandbased Social Enterprise Greenhouse’s incubator program. The sevenweek virtual program, which started in June, focused on addressing social and public health challenges that have emerged as a result of the Covid-19 crisis. Roosevelt’s initiative, My Grandson, is a personal concierge service that caters to those most vulnerable to Covdi-19 and helps to strengthen the bond between generations.

Manchester-based ExcellenceNorth Alliance, in partnership with Partners in Performance Excellence, has announced that Bristol Health in in Bristol, Conn., earned a Silver Recognition in the 2020 ENA Baldrige-based Awards and Recognition Program. BH is an integrated healthcare system offering a complete range of patient services including hospital and specialty health services, home and hospice care, skilled nursing and emergency medical services.

CONSTRUCTION

Brookstone Builders, Manchester, has hired Scott Launier as a project manager. Launier, who has over 15 years of construction and management experience, has worked as a project manager, safety coordinator and radiation safety officer and has also worked in the procurement, quality assurance, marketing, and business development areas.

Plymouth State University has named Ann McClellan interim provost and vice president of academic affairs. McClellan has served as associate provost for the past year and has taught British literature at PSU for 15 years.

EDUCATION

Rivier University has appointed Brian Ernsting as vice president for academic affairs. With more than 20 years of experience in higher education instruction and administration, Ernsting previously served as vice president for academic affairs and dean of faculty at Wartburg College in Waverly, Iowa.

ENGINEERING

Concord-based Sanborn, Head & Associates has announced that Colleen Costello has joined the firm as a senior vice president, based out of the firm’s Philadelphia office. She will be working to help grow Sanborn Head’s presence in the Mid-Atlantic region. Costello is a professional geologist with over 30 years of experience

FINANCIAL SERVICES

Tamara Richardson of North Springfield, Vt., has been named vice president, human resources diversity and inclusion officer at New Hampshire Mutual Bancorp. She is based out of the Savings Bank of Walpole’s North Meadow Plaza office in Walpole.

Barbara Simoneau of Gilford has joined Concord-based Merrimack County Savings Bank as assistant vice president, mortgage operations officer for mortgage loan processing. She is based at the bank’s Foundry operations office in Concord.

Banking New England recently honored Franklin Savings Bank with the 2020 Community Bank Heroes Gold Award. The bank was honored for it investment in the revitalization project for Franklin’s downtown area.

James Wilson, a mortgage banking veteran, has been named president and CEO of Northeast Home Loan, a West Chesterfield, NH-based subsidiary of Passumpsic Savings Bank of St. Johnsbury, Vt.

Doug Carignan has joined HPM Insurance’s sales team as an account executive in the Laconia office. HPM also has offices in Amherst, Bedford and Bristol.

LAW

Attorney Stephanie J. Lee has joined the firm of McLane Middleton as an associate in the corporate department. Prior to joining McLane Middleton, she practiced law in New York and Boston, where she focused on mergers and acquisitions, corporate restructuring, and securities law issues.

GOVERNMENT

Bethlehem-based North Country Council Inc. has been awarded $400,000 in CARES Act funding from the federal Economic Development Administration to update economic development plans and fortify programs to assist communities in responding to the coronavirus pandemic.

New Hampshire Legal Assistance has been awarded two federal Housing and Urban Development grants totaling nearly $485,000 to help promote fair housing and address housing discrimination.

John Hoyt, executive director of Concord Housing + Redevelopment, has been named to the board of trustees of the Public Housing Authorities Directors Association, based in Washington, D.C. PHADA has about 2,000 member housing agencies representing 1.9 million low-income housing units across the United States.

The New Hampshire Liquor Commission is raffling some of the world’s most soughtafter whiskies, bourbons, scotches and cordials, including rare bottles of Pappy Van Winkle, Sazerac Rye and a Craigellachie 33-year-old Scotch to raise $200,000 for local animal rescue organizations. Proceeds from its “Allies for Animals” raffle will support the Animal Rescue League of New Hampshire, Live and Let Live Farm and Friends of Manchester Animal Shelter. Some 2,000 raffle tickets, sold at $100 apiece, are available through Sept. 15 at liquorandwineoutlets.com/allies.

HEALTHCARE

The August issue of InStyle magazine features Daniele Fenn, a nurse at Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center in Lebanon, as one of 50 outstanding female healthcare workers in the article, “The Badass 50: Healthcare Workers Who Are Saving the Day.” Fenn was recognized for devising a way for her colleagues to easily communicate with non-English-speaking patients who were hospitalized at DHMC with Covid-19.

Dr. Beth Koester has joined Harvard Pilgrim Health Care as the associate medical director in New Hampshire.

She has worked as a family practice physician in Maine, chief of service/hospitalist of Family Medicine at UMass Memorial Medical Center in Worcester, Mass., and medical director of Concord Hospital Family Health Center in Concord.

Boston-based Prospero Health recently named Dwight Davis, president of Senior Helpers of Southern New Hampshire, to its national advisory council. The council is composed of healthcare leaders who offer the company expertise and guidance in the field of home-based care and support. Senior Helpers enlists licensed nursing assistants who provide in-home care and who are licensed to work with anyone 18+ on activities of daily living.

Visiting Nurse and Hospice for Vermont and New Hampshire has named new members to its board of trustees: Catherine Ells, vice president/controller at Mascoma Bank in Lebanon; Paul Handley, most recently a global operations controller at Analog Devices Inc., Norwood, Mass.; Katherine Milligan, program director of the Master of Health Care Delivery Science at Dartmouth College in Hanover; Rebecca O’Berry, vice president of operations at Gifford Health Care in Randolph, Vt.; and Kathleen Vasconcelos, executive director at Grafton County Senior Citizens Council Inc. in Lebanon.

Physicians assistant Jessica Gaudiosi has joined the staff of Concord Hospital Neurology. She is board-certified as a physician assistant and is a member of the American Academy of Physician Assistants.

New England Vascular Access, Plymouth, has hired Larry Torrey as its new chief nursing officer. He previously worked as a nursing supervisor role at Boston Medical Center before that he worked at Tufts Medical Center.

HOSPITALITY

Broadway Hospitality Group, the company that operates the Tavern in the Square restaurant chain, will be opening an eatery in the Market and Main mixed-use development in Bedford.

Tavern in the Square restaurants can be found throughout New England, and Joe Arcari, president of Broadway Hospitality, called the Bedford site “the ideal New Hampshire location.” The new agreement follows a commitment from Regal to open an 11-screen theater at the development.

MANUFACTURING

SoClean of Peterborough has introduced two new household products for killing viruses and bacteria. The company said its So- Clean Air Purifier eliminates up to 99.9999% of airborne viruses, bacteria and allergens, providing next-generation air purification that far surpasses HEPA standards. Its SoClean Device Disinfector kills up to 99.9% of bacteria and viruses on hightouch everyday items, such as smartphones and key fobs, it said. The two products are the first in a series of consumer items the company plans to release this year.

BAE Systems has received $179 million in total awards from the U.S. Army as part of its effort to build its next-generation missile warning system. The system provides aircrews with advanced threat detection capabilities, improving survivability and mission effectiveness in contested environments. Work on the system will be done at BAE Systems’ facilities in Merrimack, NH, and Huntsville, Ala.

Wilcox Industries Corp., Newington, has been honored by BAE Systems with a Gold Tier Supplier Award for what the company said were exceptional performance and contributions to supply chain success in 2019. Wilcox was selected from a pool of more than 2,200 suppliers that worked with the sector in 2019.

NONPROFITS

The New Hampshire Center for Nonprofits has added two individuals to its board of directors: Christina Cuzzi, community relations senior manager at Fidelity Investments; and John Flanders, vice president and chief operating officer of the NHHEAF Network Organizations.

Squam Lakes Natural Science Center, a nonprofit that works to advance understanding of ecology through exploration of New Hampshire’s natural world, has been named a 2020 Champion in Action in the category of Environmental Stewardship. The award, announced jointly by Citizens Bank and New Hampshire Union Leader, includes $35,000 in unrestricted funding as well as promotional and volunteer support for the organization’s outstanding work.

New Hampshire Legal Assistance, Concord, has received $300,000 from the Neil and Louise Tillotson Fund of the New Hampshire Charitable Foundation to support NHLA’s Berlin office. In 2019, NHLA served over 330 low-income and older North Country residents. In addition, NHLA was recently awarded $561,750 from the New Hampshire Bar Foundation’s IOLTA (Interest On Lawyers’ Trust Accounts) grants program to provide civil legal aid services to New Hampshire residents.


The Monadnock Humane Society has added two members to its board of directors: Lee Rigby, of Keene, a longtime volunteer at the society; and Lindsay Carter of Hancock, an administrative assistant at the Hancock Elementary School.

Granite United Way has named Martha Dickey of Boscawen as Merrimack County area director. She previously served as Granite United Way’s director of donor relations.

More than 2,500 participants came together virtually between June 1 and July 11 to raise $2.8 million for Norris Cotton Cancer Center. The virtual fundraiser was held in lieu of the annual Prouty, which involves participants who raise money through cycling, running or walking and golf. This year, participants from as far away as Thailand and Alaska took part in the virtual Prouty through activities ranging from archery, fishing, unicycling and tracking squirrels.

The New Hampshire Electric Co-op Foundation has awarded 12 grants totaling $54,395 to organizations throughout New Hampshire: Carroll County RSVP; Easterseals New Hampshire; Gibson Center for Senior Services; Lakes Region Community Services; LISTEN Community Services; Local Foods Plymouth; NH Audubon; New Hampshire Public Radio; Pemi Youth Center; Reach High Scholars Program; Squam Lakes Association; and White Horse Addiction Center.

The Capital Region Food Program recently distributed nearly three tons of nonperishable food items to 17 social service agencies, food pantries and churches as part of its Year- Round Distribution Project. Organizations receiving food were: Blueberry Express Day Care; Centerpoint Food Pantry; Chichester Food Pantry; Christ the King Food Pantry; Concord Human Services; Epsom Food Pantry; First Congregational Church Food Pantry; Friends of Forgotten Children; Gospel Light Food Pantry; Loudon Food Pantry; Merrimack Valley Daycare; Open Door Community Kitchen; Pittsfield Food Pantry; Salvation Army; St. Paul’s Church Food Pantry; Suncook Community Action Program; and West Congregational Church Food Pantry.

Step Up Parents, Portsmouth, has named Katie Fontana of Tate & Foss Sotheby’s International Realty in Rye to its board of directors. Step Up Parents offers financial assistance to grandparents and other relatives who have stepped up to raise children whose parents suffer from substance use disorder.

The O’Halloran Group, Keller Williams Lakes & Mountains Realty, New London, held its first Ultra 1K benefit race. Originally planned as a race course around the town, with an obstacle course and after-party, the virtual race event raised over $8,000, which was donated to Wish List NH, the Kearsarge Lake Sunapee Food Pantry and the Cougar Cubby for the New London Elementary School.

Meredith Village Savings Bank has purchased $5,000 in tax credits through the New Hampshire Community Development Finance Authority in support of the Black Heritage Trail of New Hampshire. The funds will support the organization’s goal to raise awareness of New Hampshire’s Black history in order to build a more inclusive community. In 2019, MVSB purchased $25,000 tax credits to aid the organization’s efforts. MVSB also recently donated $5,000 to Save Our Gale School, a local volunteer preservation group dedicated to saving the historic Gale School located behind Belmont Middle School. It was named one of 2017’s “Seven to Save” by the New Hampshire Preservation Alliance and is listed on the New Hampshire Register of Historical Places.


Raquel Gawron of Manchester and Kimberley Koschek of Weare have joined the board of YWCA New Hampshire, Manchester. Gawron works in marketing for Great NH Restaurants and also sits on the board of its charitable trust. Koschek is perinatal social worker at Catholic Medical Center and is a member of the Human Trafficking Task Force.

CASA of New Hampshire has named Elsy Cipriani of Derry to its board of directors. She is managing director of the International Institute of New England’s Manchester office. CASA’s board also elected its officers for the upcoming year. naming Amy Coveno, weekend anchor at WMUR-TV, and David Eby, attorney at Devine Millimet, as co-chairs.; John Zahr, business development manager at GYK Antler, secretary; and Kathleen Thomas, president and lead wealth advisor at New Day Solutions, treasurer.

Portsmouth-based Service Credit Union has launched the Service CU Impact Foundation aimed at increasing its community giving and further promote initiatives in the areas it serves. “The Service CU Impact Foundation promotes community development by funding initiatives that deliver solutions and solve problems facing our membership and communities in which we serve. We are excited to finally announce the launch of the foundation, and look forward to making even more of a difference to those who need it than ever before,” said Service CU President and CEO David Araujo, who serves as president and chair of the Impact Foundation.

A number of businesses recently contributed donations to the Nashua Performing Arts Center fundraising effort: The Marzen Group LLC, a systems integration and engineering consulting company based in Nashua, recently committed a significant gift of $40,000 to the Nashua Performing Arts Center through the Community Development Finance Authority tax credit program; Martha’s Inc., the parent company of Martha’s Exchange and Brew Pub and Martha’s Sweet Shoppe, committed to a gift of $25,000 through the tax credit program; Bar Harbor Bank & Trust, donated $15,000; and Marzen Group President and co-owner Bob Blaisdell, along with his wife Marylou, owner of Design Wares on Main Street, have made a personal donation of $25,000.


Spaulding Youth Center, Northfield, has named Ana McKenna to its board of directors. McKenna has been an active U.S. Army officer since 1999 and currently holds the rank of major, responsible for the management of New Hampshire National Guard’s Care Coordination Program. Also named to the board were Daniel Kaplan, information technology director for Associated Grocers of New England, in Pembroke, and Jake Beattie, controller at AutoServ of Tilton.

New Hampshire Federal Credit Union’s recent Feed the Need Community Challenge raised over $8,000 for Meals-on-Wheels. The contributions will help pay for meal prep, delivery and for items needed by these agencies for their programs.

The Granite YMCA has received a $100,000 grant from the Nourishing Neighbors Shaw’s and Star Market Foundations in support of its Help Feed Kids and Families During Summer Program to fight hunger during the Covid-19 crisis and beyond. The campaign is part of Shaw’s and Star Market’s Nourishing Neighbors Community Relief Initiative.

REAL ESTATE

Alliance Asset Management, Concord, has named Marie Poole managing director, overseeing the organization, which manages 642 residential apartments and seven commercial units and supports nearly 1,200 residents. She has worked for the New Hampshire Housing Finance Authority as Section 8 portfolio manager and then was director of housing for Keene Housing. Alliance Asset Management is a division of CATCH Neighborhood Housing.

Matthew Penner of Peabody & Smith Realty’s Bretton Woods office has earned his New Hampshire broker’s license. Penner is a residential and land specialist.

Marilyn Richards has joined Roche Realty Group Inc.’s Meredith office. She is the owner and head designer of Designing Woman Interiors and has participated in the design and management of many home remodels, working closely with contractors and supplying furniture, staging and consulting.

RETAIL

The New Hampshire Liquor Commission has launched a “Keep it Local” sale to support New Hampshire wineries and distilleries. Through Aug. 30, NH Liquor & Wine Outlet customers will receive a 20% discount when they purchase three or more mix-and-match bottles of New Hampshire wines and spirits.

The commission said it will support the effort with a comprehensive marketing, advertising and merchandising campaign to encourage customers to try a variety of locally produced wines and spirits.

SPORTS

Montcalm Golf Club, Enfield, has hired Dustin Ribolini as a first assistant golf professional. Ribolini, who previously served as associate golf professional at the Hanover Country Club, received the 2020 New Hampshire PGA Assistant Professional of the Year Award in April.

TRANSPORTATION

Merchants Fleet has hired Steve DiPiero as a regional sales manager in the West Region. Based in Chicago, DiPiero was previously director of mobility and business development at Donlen.

TECHNOLOGY

Twinstate Technologies has announced the addition of Audra Luck Squier to its staff as technical solutions consultant.

Chuck Valley has been appointed vice president of sales at Monzite in Nashua, a division of Omni-Lite Industries Inc. that builds microelectronic components and subsystems for the aerospace, defense, industrial automation, medical device and other advanced sectors. Prior to joining Monzite, Valley worked for 15 years at Linear Technologies, staying on with the company when it was acquired by Analog Devices in 2017.

Waypoint Robotics, a Nashua-based developer and manufacturer of autonomous, industrial mobile robots, has partnered with Cincinnati-based AHS (Advanced Handling Systems) on a new systems integrator partnership.

Merchants Fleet Senior Vice President and Chief Technology and Digital Officer Jeanine L. Charlton will be the speaker for the next TechWomen|TechGirls Virtual Power Breakfast, to be held beginning at 7:30 a.m.

Wednesday, Aug. 12. Her topic will be “Supporting the Next Generation of Tech Women Through Mentorship.” Radianse, a Doverbased provider of internet of things solutions, has unveiled task-scheduling and management software that it says allows businesses to streamline, schedule and monitor all activity surrounding sanitation and cleanliness at its facilities as a response to the Covid-19 pandemic. The software allows employees to meet the cleaning requirements of a facility while detailed reporting and history provides a clear view into the running of operations, the company said. It is accessible by any computer, smartphone or other web-enabled device, the firm said.
