
1. Healthcare Purchasing News has selected Dartmouth-Hitchcock Health as the recipient of its 17th Annual Supply Chain Department of the Year Award for punching through the traditional stereotype of simply moving boxes of stuff by pursuing and embracing deeper and more meaningful roles such as sourcing enabler, margin-enhancement deliverer, demand-planning innovator and communication facilitator.

2. The Associated Builders and Contractors NH/VT Chapter’s Young Professionals Group (ABC YPG) recently donated $1,000 in honor of Tim Barton (pictured) to MY TURN, an organization that provides workforce development opportunities to disadvantaged youth. Barton, executive vice president of DECCO, a mechanical contracting firm based in Brookline, recently passed away, leaving a very large hole in the ABC community. Joel Pickering, president of Manchester-based Denron Plumbing and HVAC, volunteered an additional $500 donation. MY TURN will utilize all donations made in Barton’s name to provide a scholarship and supportive services to a young person beginning their career.
3. The Marzen Group LLC, a systems integration and engineering consulting company based in Nashua, recently committed a significant gift of $40,000 to the Nashua Performing Arts Center through the New Hampshire Tax Credit Program. In addition, Marzen Group LLC President and co-owner Bob Blaisdell, along with his wife Marylou, owner of Design Wares on Main Street, have made a personal donation of $25,000 to the Performing Arts Center.
4. Martha’s Inc., the parent company of Martha’s Exchange and Brew Pub and Martha’s Sweet Shoppe on Main Street, also recently committed to a gift of $25,000 to the Nashua Performing Arts Center through the New Hampshire Tax Credit Program. Pictured here: Owner Billy Fokas.
5. New England Cancer Specialists, the region’s largest medical oncology group, celebrated the opening last month of its new cancer care, located in the space previously occupied and operated by Portsmouth Regional Hospital. Many staff members from the Portsmouth Regional Hospital oncology team, including Dr. Yoko Fukuda, will be joining NECS, providing a seamless transition of care for patients.
6. Service Credit Union has joined forces with a motivated group of Portsmouth locals to create PopUp NH, a pop up market located at the Bridge Street lot where customers can support Portsmouth businesses and restaurants. The open market venue, which is open Thursday through Sunday afternoons and evenings, will feature food, beverages and live entertainment.
7. Bar Harbor Bank & Trust recently donated $15,000 to the Nashua Performing Arts Center project. The Nashua Performing Arts Center, which will seat up to 750 people with retractable seats and up to 1,000 people standing, aims to be a flexible entertainment space that will accommodate large theatrical and musical performances, comedy shows, as well as smaller corporate events and private celebrations.
