BUSINESS ORGANIZATIONS


New Hampshire Businesses for Social Responsibility has named three people to its board of directors: Kerrie Diers, vice president of Bedford-based Normandeau Associates Inc.; Steve Gabriel, cofounder and managing partner at Salem-based 36creative; and Morgan Hilow, manager at BerryDunn.

Associated Builders and Contractors of New Hampshire/Vermont recently delivered over $34,000 in relief to help food banks of New Hampshire and Vermont. The association said it set a goal of raising $15,000, but within a few days it became apparent that more was needed and contractors more than doubled the goal. An equal amount went to the food banks of both states.

The Belknap Economic Development Council has added two new members to its board of directors: Jennifer Anderson, deputy director of the Laconia Motorcycle Week Association and a professor of psychology at Plymouth State University and Lakes Region Community College, and Jodie Gallant, a business strategist and coach for JMG Business Strategy. Chris Walkley of Bank of New Hampshire will serve as chairman of the 2020 board.

ENERGY

Robert B. Hevert has been named senior vice president of Unitil and is expected to be named chief financial officer and treasurer of the company later in July, taking over for Laurence M. Brock, who has served as Unitil’s interim CFO and treasurer since March 16. Brock will remain as a senior vice president. Hevert most recently served as partner and practice area leader of rates, regulation and planning at ScottMadden Inc.

Andrew Pfluger has joined Neighborhood Energy of New England, East Hampstead, as business development director.

Proulx Oil & Propane has launched a mobile app that allows customers to order fuel, make payments, view account history and request service. The app can be downloaded on the Apple and Google Play stores.

BUSINESS SERVICES

Regional staffing firm Leddy Group of Dover, has announced the promotion of Susannah Chance to senior vice president of human resources.

Hooksett-based direct marketing and print service company Polaris Direct has been recertified by the Center for Women & Enterprise Certification Committee as a WBENC Women’s Business Enterprise, or WBE. It is Polaris’ 16th year of WBE certification.


Sojourn Partners of Bedford has added five associate partners to its team: Kristi Baxter of Newfields, who has over 25 years of experience in the fields of leadership development, talent management, coaching, executive recruiting and brand management; Polly Goddard of Harwich, Mass., certified as an associate certified coach with the International Coach Federation as well as a certified coach in Gestalt theory; Tammy Jordan of Hudson, who has extensive experience in multiple work assessments, including DiSC and the Herrmann Brain Dominance Instrument and The Predictive Index; Sheila Lambert of Bedford, who does leadership coaching using her training in clinical therapy and organizational and personal coaching; and Gregory McHugh of Falmouth, Maine, an associate certified coach (ACC) through the International Coach Federation.

ADVERTISING AND MARKETING

White Birch Communications, Concord, has launched an expanded range of services aimed at strengthening the firm’s public relations and marketing services. The firm’s repositioning, led by senior communications associate Kate Fleming, will include a comprehensive set of services, including social media design and management, digital advertising services and creative design.

ENGINEERING

Tighe & Bond Inc. was recently honored with a Silver Award for Engineering Excellence by the American Council of Engineering Companies-NH for its work with Pennichuck Water Works on a new water main crossing the Merrimack River to connect residents in the town of Litchfield with a water supply from the town of Merrimack. The water supply of more than 360 Litchfield homes had been found to be contaminated by PFAS.

Geotechnical and environmental firm GZA has earned a Gold Award in the American Council of Engineering Companies of New Hampshire’s 2020 Engineering Excellence Awards. GZA won the honors in the Studies, Research and Consulting category for work by team members based in Bedford, NH, and Norwood, Mass., in support of a large-scale real estate redevelopment of a former industrial site where GZA developed and implemented soil remediation while simultaneously providing geotechnical engineering and a vapor intrusion barrier system design.

Jacob Woodard has joined TFMoran as a structural engineer after working as an intern for the company in 2019.

Consulting engineering firm CHA Consulting Inc. has acquired Mansfield, Conn.-based CME Associates Inc. CHA, which has a footprint in New Hampshire, Connecticut, Massachusetts and Rhode Island, is adding some 70 employees to its staff, including staffers at CME’s office in Nashua.

FOOD AND AGRICULTURE

Little Big Farm Foods of Portsmouth, a specialty foods manufacturer, has added 12 new items to its brand of sweet, savory and gluten-free baking mixes. The products are available at the factory store, 199 Constitution Ave., Portsmouth, select retailers, Amazon and at littlebigfarmfoods.com.

GOVERMENT

Gina Owens has been named regional forester for the U.S. Forest Service’s Eastern Region, overseeing more than 12 million acres of the National Forest System in the Northeast and Midwest. Owens previously was deputy regional forester for the Pacific Northwest Region.

The U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development has awarded the New Hampshire Housing Finance Authority a $146,124 housing counseling grant to help individuals and families avoid foreclosure and make more informed homebuying and rental choices.

RETAIL

Dominick Zarcone Jr. has opened a new Pet Supplies Plus location at 172 Tri City Plaza in Somersworth. The store offers products for pets as well as a variety of amenities that include a professional grooming salon, self-service dog wash stations, curbside pickup, same-day home delivery and carry-out service.

TECHNOLOGY

Akumina, the Nashua-based maker of employee experience platform software, has been named a “Strong Performer” by Forrester Research Inc. in “The Forrester Wave: Intranet Platforms, Q2” report. Akumina said it received the highest scores possible for seven criteria, including personalization, integration and interoperability, and design tools.

Claremont-based IT company Red River has been named by CRN to the 2020 Solution Provider 500 list, an annual ranking of the largest technology integrators, solution providers and IT consultants in North America by revenue. Red River ranked 49th on this year’s list, up 15 spots from 2019.

FINANCIAL SERVICES


Primary Bank has added two people to its organization: Shilpi Mehrotra as vice president, commercial loan officer based at the bank’s Derry office, and Christine Sorice, commercial loan assistant, also in Derry.

Paul Simms of Hampton has joined Newburyport Bank as senior vice president of managed assets. He previously was senior vice president at First Ipswich Bank.

Ledyard National Bank has hired Joe Scearbo of Windsor, Vt., as an assistant vice president and commercial relationship manager in its Commercial Banking Division, working with clients in the Upper Valley and surrounding area. Previously, he was a business banking relationship manager at Citizens Bank.

Piscataqua Savings Bank, Portsmouth, has added two new corporators: Amy Ferris, owner of Life Simple Solutions, and Curtis Springer, who is retired from Harvard University. Eight members of the board of trustees were also re-elected: Joseph Almeida, Christopher Brown, Margot Doering, Jay Gibson, Philip Pettis, Alan Robinson, Elisabeth Robinson and Richard Wallis.

HEALTHCARE

Dartmouth-Hitchcock has announced the promotion of Craig Beck to senior vice president of operations and business development for the Southern Region and Community Group Practice.

He previously was vice president of community group practice business operations.
