DURHAM: RiverWoods Durham, a nonprofit continuing care retirement community, broke ground on its Phase 2 expansion on July 15, which will add 55 new independent living apartment homes, along with a standalone community center. The project will expand RiverWoods Durham’s independent living offerings, while the Hatchwood Community Center will offer gathering spaces, dining venues and recreational areas. Construction is still ongoing, with the first residents anticipated to move in late fall 2027.
CLAREMONT: The Claremont MakerSpace has launched its new Entrepreneur in Residence (EiR) Program, a pilot initiative designed to help aspiring entrepreneurs transform innovative ideas into sustainable businesses while strengthening the local economy. The program is part of the MakerSpace’s Workforce Development Initiative, made possible through funding from the Northern Border Regional Commission (NBRC). The program provides selected entrepreneurs with access to dedicated workspace, professional equipment, mentorship and a collaborative community of makers, allowing them to focus on developing and growing their businesses.
HAMPTON FALLS: Secondwind Water Systems has opened its second location at 97 Lafayette Road in Hampton Falls, expanding the company’s presence on the Seacoast to better serve homeowners, businesses and public water systems across New Hampshire, Northern Massachusetts and Southern Maine. The company specializes in solutions for hard water, iron, manganese, staining, taste and odor concerns, and health-related contaminants such as arsenic, radon and PFAS.
MANCHESTER: Newforma, a provider of project information management, collaboration and dispute risk mitigation solutions for the architecture, engineering, construction and owner-operated market, is supporting the next generation of professionals with the launch of the Newforma AECO Scholarship program. Presented by the Newforma Women’s Leadership Council, two $3,750 scholarships will be given to aid individuals pursuing: undergraduate and graduate degree programs, professional certifications, continuing education courses or specialized industry training programs. CONCORD: Granite Edvance has donated an additional $100,000 to the Student Emergency Aid Fund it helped create in 2024 with The Foundation for New Hampshire Community Colleges, bringing its total contribution to $280,000. The fund, which has already supported 276 students across the Community College System of New Hampshire (CCSNH), helps cover short-term, non-academic expenses such as food, housing, child care and transportation so that students can stay enrolled and focused on their studies. In addition, Granite Edvance has donated $200,000 to student aid funds in the University System of New Hampshire and contributed food and financial support to its food pantries.
