MANCHESTER: CMF Kids and Crotched Mountain Foundation are partnering with the UNH Kinesiology Department to embark on a two-year research project focused on physical activity and sports participation among children with disabilities in public schools. Nationwide, children with disabilities are nearly five times less likely to engage in PA than their non-disabled peers. In New Hampshire, no population-level data currently exists on PA and sports participation among children with disabilities in our communities and schools. This research seeks to rectify that and generate actionable data.

CONCORD: The Community College System of New Hampshire (CCSNH) has been awarded $482,658 in State Apprenticeship Expansion Formula (SAEF) grants from the U.S. Department of Labor to increase the capacity of Registered Apprenticeship Programs (RAPs). RAPs combine on-the-job training and classroom education to provide career paths for apprentices and meet workforce needs in high-demand fields. The grant will also facilitate new Pre-Apprenticeship Programs, which prepare high school students and adult learners for entry into a Registered Apprenticeship Program.

EXETER: RiverWoods has launched the Seacoast Dementia Hub, which offers personalized guidance through one-on-one conversations with program director Ashley Seinen, helping families answer questions and explore next steps for their loved ones with dementia. Hub staff can connect caregivers to local and national services ranging from medical providers and support groups to in-home care and respite programs as well as education through classes and community workshops.

OSSIPEE: White Horse Recovery, a nonprofit behavioral health center serving the North Country and Lakes Region, is removing accessibility barriers with the purchase of two new vehicles dedicated to client transportation. Executive director Matthew Plache, said they will be able to transport more people to appointments and intensive outpatient programs, making it easier for clients to get the help they need. The new vehicles will also enable White Horse Recovery to become credentialed with Coordinated Transportation Solutions (CTS), which provides Medicaid transport.

CONCORD: The NH Liquor Commission (NHLC) is celebrating Bourbon Heritage Month with the launch of Find Your Perfect Bourbon, its largest sale of single-barrel bourbon and American whiskey in history. In addition, NHLC is offering customers an opportunity to sample, select and name single-barrel bourbons and whiskeys from Elijah Craig, Angel’s Envy, Knob Creek and Jack Daniel’s, that will be sold exclusively at NH Liquor & Wine Outlets. From September 19-28, NH Liquor & Wine Outlets will offer 10% off the purchase of three bottles, 15% off six bottles or 25% off 12 bottles.
