1. Service Credit Union was recently honored with the Granite State Warrior Award by the Military Officer Association of America’s New Hampshire chapter. The financial institution was recognized for its ongoing commitment to supporting military members, veterans and their families domestically and abroad, including offering financial literacy classes overseas. Service CU’s Jaime Yates is pictured accepting the award from NOAA-NH President Larry Miller.

2. Twelve students in the Marketing Association of Plymouth State University (MAPS) won awards at the American Marketing Association’s International Collegiate Conference in New Orleans, held April 3-5. Thomas Giessler and Carissa Adams ranked second in the Marketing Strategy Competition. Lauren Bartnicki received an honorable mention in the Perfect Pitch competition out of 600 competing students.

3. Great Bay Community College and Portsmouth nonprofit Gather recently celebrated Gather Café’s third anniversary. The café offers GBCC students healthy meals for free or at a half-off discount to counter food insecurity among the college population. Public donors, college staff and faculty buy full-price meals to help offset costs. GBCC President Cheryl Lesser and Gather’s Tania Marino and Heather Cash are shown.

4. The New Hampshire Business Committee for the Arts voted to shutter after the departure of Executive Director Tricia Soule. As part of the process, NHBCA donated its physical and financial assets to the Nashua nonprofit Positive Street Art. 5. Holy Rosary Credit Union (HRCU) is launching two new “introduction to banking” courses in addition to two existing banking courses for its programs at Rochester’s Spaulding High School. They begin this fall, with college credit available upon completion. Students KJ Fry and Kaylee Merrifield are pictured promoting Credit Union Youth Month to their peers.

6. The Newington McDonald’s recently hosted students and teachers from schools being recognized at next month’s New Hampshire Excellence in Education Awards Celebration. The schools were South Londonderry Elementary, Henry W. Moore School and Oyster River Middle. Conant Middle High will also receive an award, but was unable to visit the McDonald’s location due to distance. Each school received a $2,000 check from McDonald’s, the lead sponsor of the awards event.

7. Volunteers who serve hospice patients for Visiting Nurse and Hospice for Vermont and New Hampshire (VNH) met for a volunteer appreciation event at VNH’s office on May 1. Of VNH’s roughly 20 volunteers, five attended (pictured): Daniel Kamil, Sally Hostetler, Sunny Cui, John Jerro and Mary Campbell.

8. Catholic Charities NH presented its inaugural Charity First Award to the Knights of Columbus Bishop Peterson Council #4442, located in Salem. The award honors Knights of Columbus councils who demonstrate outstanding service and community impact.
