NASHUA: The Nash Casino presented a combined $1.6 million to eight New Hampshire nonprofit organizations during a brief check presentation ceremony on May 20. These funds were raised from the combined revenues generated by games of chance and historical horse racing machines in April. Those receiving funds include: Community Council of Nashua (Greater Nashua Mental Health Center), NH Patriot Guard Riders, Gateway Community Services, Hudson Police Relief Association, Nashua Area Artists’ Association, New Searles Elementary School PTO, Nashua Historical Society, and NH Building Officials Education Foundation.

FREMONT: Jewett Construction, in partnership with the NHIAA, announced that the recipient of the 2025 Jewett Trade Scholarship is Peyton Connelly, a student from Merrimack High School. The scholarship was created to support the next generation of tradespeople and to recognize the essential role-skilled labor plays in our industry. Connelly, an Eagle Scout and honor student, has been a participant in the Career & Technical Education Welding and Fabrication Program at Alvirne High School for the past two years. This fall, he will be attending the Advanced Welding Institute (AWI) in South Burlington, Vermont, where he will continue to hone his skills and pursue a career in structural and pipeline welding.

DOVER: Lighthouse Credit Union, in partnership with creative agency Anchour, has won the “People’s Voice” Webby Award in the Websites and Mobile Sites: Financial Services & Banking category — the first credit union to ever receive a Webby. The Webby Awards are presented by the International Academy of Digital Arts and Sciences (IADAS), honoring the best websites, video, advertising, media, and more. This year’s competition drew over 3.5 million votes across nearly 13,000 entries from more than 70 countries — with Lighthouse Credit Union emerging as a top public favorite.

PITTSFIELD: Goodwell Foods, LLC, a private label frozen pizza manufacturer located in Pittsfield has completed its first full quarter of operations. Goodwell Foods was started by CEO Vikram Mansharamani in November 2024 after purchasing some of the distressed assets of Rustic Crust, a company that had gone out of business. With the help of investors and Franklin Savings Bank, Mansharamani led the purchase of equipment associated with a small-format production line. Operations began in December 2024, and dozens of employees were hired to start producing high-quality pizzas. The company achieved record productivity within its first three months and uses fresh, natural ingredients to produce quality frozen pizzas.

PORTSMOUTH: Albacore Park has opened a new gallery space to honor those who gave their lives while serving in the military. The new space will showcase the region’s maritime history along with more information on submarines and the Albacore specifically. While exhibits are still in the early phases, visitors can view the new space and some artifacts that have not been on display before during Memorial Day weekend, with multiple activities planned throughout the holiday.
