ENGINEERING

TFMoran announced recent team hires, including Olivia Boyer as a new environmental permitting specialist in the Portsmouth office, Aiden Schlotman as a new civil project engineer in the Bedford office, and Oliver Sheridan as a new CADD technician in the Portsmouth office.


MEDIA

Conway Broadcasting has promoted Jeannie Cafarelli to vice president of sales. She has been with the radio stations previously owned by Mount Washington Radio and Gramophone for over four years.

New Hampshire Public Radio (NHPR) is joining forces with Mount Washington Observatory (MWOBS) to deliver state-of-the-art weather forecasts across New Hampshire. Leveraging insights from Mount Washington’s research facilities in North Conway and on the summit of Mount Washington, NHPR will deliver timely, detailed statewide weather reports during Morning Edition (5 a.m. - 10 a.m.), Here & Now (12 p.m. - 2 p.m.), and All Things Considered (4 p.m. - 6:30 p.m.). These reports will provide a broader understanding of New Hampshire’s weather patterns and offer practical, actionable information to help listeners prepare for everything from their morning/evening commute to outdoor activities.


HEALTH CARE

Rachael Ela, senior vice president, private banking team lead at Cambridge Trust, has been appointed to Seacoast Mental Health Center’s board of directors. She is a past chair of the Exeter Area Chamber of Commerce, and is a current member of the Exeter Rotary Club. In 2020, she was recognized by the NH Union Leader as a “40 Under 40” award recipient.

Southern New Hampshire Health (SNHH) has named Kenneth Matsis the senior vice president and chief financial officer of the health system, after a promotion from vice president of finance. He joined SNHH in 2023 as financial controller after positions in finance leadership with Catholic Medical Center and Concord Hospital, as CFO of Home Health and Hospice Care, and previously as director of financial reporting and accounting with SNHH from 2013 to 2019.


FINANCIAL SERVICES

Jessica Ruel has been promoted to assistant vice president, branch and business development manager for Meredith Village Savings Bank’s North Conway office. She joined the Bank in 2001 as a teller and was promoted several times, up until she led branch offices in Meredith and Laconia before her most recent promotion.

David Tierney has joined The Elm Street Group at Morgan Stanley in Manchester as a financial advisor. Formerly with McAdam Financial for more than 10 years, Tierney holds Series 7 and 66 registrations and is a Life, Accident and Health Insurance producer, licensed in various New England states.

LPM Advisory Group, a private wealth advisory practice with Ameriprise Financial in Concord, was named to the list of “Best-in-State Wealth Management Teams” published by Forbes, which recognizes financial advisors and their teams who have demonstrated high levels of ethical standards, professionalism and success in the business. LPM Advisory Group was chosen based on assets under management, industry experience, compliance record and best practices in their practice, and approach to working with clients.

Jo-Ann Church has joined Ledyard National Bank as the senior vice president and chief credit officer. She most recently served as the senior vice president and senior credit officer at Northway Bank. Prior to that, she held the position of senior vice president and team leader at Chaston Associates, and served as vice president and credit manager at Ocean Bank.

Primary Bank has appointed Joseph Graham as its new VP, director of sales. He has over 26 years of experience in the media industry, including as former president of iHeartMedia, and has expertise in leading strategic operations, driving growth and innovation, and connecting with local businesses.

Evernorth closed Housing New England, Fund VI on March 19, 2025, which will provide equity to finance affordable housing in Maine, New Hampshire and Vermont. Sixteen investors committed a total of $64,250,000 in equity, making Housing New England, Fund VI (HNE Fund VI) a significant financial resource for the region’s critical affordable housing needs. HNE Fund VI’s investors include community, regional and national banks as well as one of the nation’s largest mortgage banking organizations. Of the 10 properties financed by Fund VI, three of them are projected to be completed in 2025 and create 117 homes. Four of the properties are in Maine, one is in New Hampshire, and five are in Vermont, and together will result in 492 homes.


REAL ESTATE

Caitlin Burke has been promoted to partner of The Boulos Company, a commercial real estate firm. Based in the firm’s Portsmouth office, Burke joined the company in 2016, showcasing expertise in various sectors including office, industrial, retail and investment properties.


TECHNOLOGY

Byrna Technologies – a technology company that provides safe and effective non-lethal alternatives for civilians, law enforcement officers and security professionals — opened its newest location at 236 N. Broadway, Suite K, in Salem, NH. Based in Andover, Mass., Byrna’s range of products include less-lethal pistols and rifles, defense sprays, backpack body armor, and more.


NONPROFITS

Granite State Independent Living (GSIL) — a statewide nonprofit whose mission is to promote quality of life with independence for people with disabilities — recently welcomed new members to its board of directors: Kathleen Davidson, an attorney with Pastori|Krans; David Feller, a consultant with DS Feller Company; and Maxwell Walters, service desk analyst at GBG plc.

Plan NH has welcomed Anna Wells to the team as program coordinator. She most recently served as Hopkinton’s economic development director for more than three years. Wells will work to support Plan NH’s programs and membership services, ensuring the execution of events and fostering member relationships. She will also contribute to the nonprofit’s ongoing efforts with the InvestNH Housing Opportunity Planning Grant program, helping to advance its mission and initiatives.

The M&T Charitable Foundation, the philanthropic arm of M&T Bank, announced $4.9 million in grants to 51 nonprofits across New England and Long Island and Westchester County, New York. The announcement of this third round concludes the company’s Amplify Fund supplemental grant program, a three-year, $25 million commitment to address inequities, with a focus on all low- and moderate-income communities and underserved populations. Funding grantees in this final round include nonprofits that are centered on advancing financial inclusion and spurring economic growth and prosperity, with a focus on creating equitable change through homeownership, small business development and entrepreneurship, career growth and financial resilience.

NH LAKES recently welcomed Terry Mattson, of Acworth, to its board of directors. She had a successful career as an executive in the medical device and biopharmaceutical space before retiring. Mattson is a contributing member of the Crescent Lake Association’s Water Quality Group and a founding director of the CLEAR Trust. She was instrumental in raising awareness regarding the need for a watershed plan for Crescent Lake, which is now in progress.

After more than six years as executive director of the NH Business Committee for the Arts (NHBCA), Tricia Soule will be stepping down at the end of April to assume the role of director of development at the Harwood Museum of Art in Taos, New Mexico. Upon Soule’s departure, the Committee will also be dissolved at the end of its current fiscal year — after 41 years of advocating for and promoting the arts.

Service Dogs NH, formerly known as the NH Coalition for the Support of Service Dogs, has received $48,079 in charitable gaming funds from Revo Casino after a 10-day run-in Dover. The funds will allow the organization to expand its support for service dog teams across the state by providing financial assistance to qualified service dog owners to cover the cost of vet care, medications and health services.

Norway Savings Bank (NSB) recently donated $500 to Tin Mountain Conservation Center in Albany — an organization that promotes an appreciation of the environment in children, families, and the community — as well as $500 to Trout Unlimited, a nonprofit dedicated to preserving and protecting the cold-water resources in the Saco River Watershed of Mount Washington Valley. The donation will help present Valley Clean Up Day on May 4, an annual event that features volunteers of all ages participating in a massive litter cleanup throughout the area.

Norway Savings Bank recently donated $1,000 to the Mount Washington Valley Housing Coalition, a nonprofit based in Conway that advocates for housing opportunities for individuals and families. Norway Bank is headquartered in Norway, Maine, but is opening a new branch in North Conway this May.


LAW

Downs Rachlin Martin PLLC Attorney Alison Sherman has been elected as a Fellow of the American College of Trust and Estate Counsel (ACTEC) for the state of Vermont. Sherman has practiced in the area of trusts and estates law for 11 years, with a focus on estate planning, probate and trust administration. As a Vermont ACTEC Fellow, Alison joins a group of attorneys who demonstrate the highest level of knowledge, experience and professional skills in the practice of trust and estate law.


CONSTRUCTION

ReArch Construction will be expanding into southern New Hampshire with immediate plans to open an office on the Seacoast. ReArch is unveiling a brand refresh as part of this expansion, transitioning from ReArch Company to ReArch Construction, in reflection of the company’s focus and expertise in the industry. As part of the expansion, the company hired Darrell “Britt” Britton as VP of corporate development and MEP and Mike McLaughlin as VP, project executive.


BUSINESS ORGANIZATIONS

The Better Business Bureau Serving New Hampshire has named eight BBB Torch Award for Ethics finalists, who were celebrated at an award ceremony April 10. The event honors businesses that highlight the Four Cs — character, culture, customers, and community — exemplifying integrity in leadership, workplace culture, customer relations and community engagement. The eight finalists were: Alternative Balance LLC, Advance Pump and Filter Co., Aesthetic HVAC LLC, Lighthouse Door Company, My CNA Now LLC, Randall School of Karate, Senior Financial Resources and Thompson Insurance Agency. (This issue of NH Business Review went to press before the winners were announced.)

The Upper Valley Business Alliance (UVBA) added five new members to its board of directors: Jeff Acker, founder of HP Roofing and president of Resoreze in Hartland, Vt.; Emmanuel Ajavon, associate director of business leadership programs, Tuck School of Business at Dartmouth; Kerry Artman, executive director, Carter Community Building Association and Witherall Recreation Center; Samantha Davidson Green, executive director, Junction Arts and Media in White River Junction, Vt.; and Brian Moses, general manager wholesale division, Britton Lumber in Fairlee, Vt.

Salty Paws has opened at its new headquarters located at 9 Anns Lane in Hampton, NH. For the past seven years, Salty Paws has offered off-leash adventures, providing enrichment, socialization, and exercise to dogs across the Seacoast. With the opening of its new facility, Salty Paws is looking to expand its services to include a state-of-the-art dog daycare.


NH Liquor Commission welcomes Patricia Peters

The NH Liquor Commission (NHLC) has named Patricia Peters its director of administration, responsible for developing and implementing policies and procedures, ensuring compliance with state and federal regulations, and providing strategic direction to enhance operational efficiency. Peters, who first joined NHLC in 2024, previously served as a senior legal counsel. Prior to joining NHLC, Peters served as an assistant county attorney for Rockingham County, and she also founded and managed a law office specializing in real estate transactions, estate planning and civil litigation.
