CONCORD: The NH Lottery is giving five high school hockey players the opportunity to lace up their skates alongside NHL legend and former Boston Bruins captain Patrice Bergeron for a chance to win up to $1,000 for their schools in an on-ice competition at the Conway Arena in Nashua. Players were nominated and chosen at random for the event, which will take place Thursday, April 3. Following the competition, the NH Lottery will hold a special event to celebrate five years of sports betting in the state at The Nash Casino, where Bergeron will take part in a Q&A session with sports media personality Mike Mutnansky.
NORTH CONWAY: Mount Washington Observatory’s (MWOBS) annual Seek the Peak event will reach the quarter-century mark this summer as hundreds of hikers hit the trail to raise funds, earn gear, and celebrate adventure with live music, gear vendors, outdoor brand giveaways and more. Hikers of all ability levels can take advantage of the 50% early-bird discount on registration now through April 12 at seekthepeak.org, with the $25 sign-up fee counting toward their fundraising total. MWOBS aims to raise $250,000 during the 25th anniversary event.
CONCORD: The Greater Concord Chamber of Commerce’s annual leadership program, Leadership Greater Concord, is accepting applications for the class of 2026. The program begins in September 2025 and continues with monthly sessions days through May 2026. Participants will get to know different aspects of the city during day-long sessions that cover history, arts and culture, education, livable communities and smart growth, government and politics, the criminal justice system, economic development, communications and the media, and health and human services. Applications are due by Friday, May 30, at concordnhchamber.com/leadership.
PLYMOUTH: In an effort to address the expanding need for professionals to protect enterprises against cyber threats, Plymouth State University is offering a new 96-credit, three-year applied bachelor’s degree program in cybersecurity, as well as a traditional four-year program and a certificate program expected to launch this fall. U.S. Sen. Jeanne Shaheen secured $1 million in federal funding to be used to create state-of-the-art cybersecurity labs and teaching spaces incorporating advanced network security equipment and software. The programs will also feature partnerships with local and state law enforcement agencies and interdisciplinary overlap with computer science, criminal justice, robotics and psychology programs.
