WHAT: The Salute Your Service Job Fair is a one-stop event connecting veterans with top employers seeking skills and experience as well as training and employment resources. This in-person fair is designed to honor veterans’ service and support professional civilian development on the one-year anniversary of New Hampshire’s Hire A Veteran Day to help make the most of transitioning smoothly into the civilian workforce. The event is open to all veterans, including Active Duty, National Guard and Reserves, veterans of all eras and military and veteran spouses and family members.

WHAT: The Community College System of New Hampshire is launching the NH Center for Automated Manufacturing that will transform the education and training needs for our students, high schools and businesses in New Hampshire. ApprenticeshipNH and the NH Center for Automated Manufacturing are hosting a business roundtable to discuss short-term and long-term training needs. The NH Center for Automated Manufacturing is a proactive step towards ensuring alignment between educational offerings across the state. The aligned curriculum will serve as a valuable tool for building a skilled workforce and lay a foundation for the development of registered apprenticeships and pre-apprenticeships within the manufacturing industry.

LEAGUE OF NH CRAFTSMEN FAIR

WHEN: Saturday, Aug. 3 – Sunday, Aug. 11

WHERE: Mount Sunapee Resort, 1398 NH Route 103, Newbury

WHAT: The Annual Craftsmen’s Fair is run by the nonprofit League of NH Craftsmen. The Fair carries out the mission of the League to promote fine arts and crafts, support craftspeople, and educate and enrich life in New Hampshire communities. Begun in 1933, the Fair runs for nine days, featuring the juried work of hundreds of League members with sales booths, educational workshops, demonstrations, and exhibitions attracting over 20,000 visitors annually.

COST: $18 for single-day adult admission; $28 for two-day pass; free for ages 16 and under

WHAT: The New Hampshire Insurance Department (NHID) is holding a virtual town hall for behavioral health providers. This event, an initiative of the department’s Mental Health and Addiction Services Advisory Committee, will facilitate convenient participation for both Committee members and the public and aims to achieve two key objectives. The first is for the NHID to hear directly from behavioral health providers about their experiences and challenges, and the second is to inform providers about the Department’s initiatives, priorities, ongoing reforms and establish effective communication channels.

WHAT: Matthew J. Smith was a beloved member of the Angel Flight NE family, whose indomitable spirit touched the hearts of all who knew him. Matthew bravely battled Osteogenesis Imperfecta (OI) throughout his life, inspiring countless individuals with his resilience, courage and unwavering optimism. This event benefits Angel Flight NE’s mission of scheduling unlimited free flights of healing and hope for patients who must travel for specialized medical care. To celebrate Matthew’s remarkable life and honor his enduring legacy, Angel Flight NE has established a program, Flights of Healing & Hope in his memory with funds raised from this event supporting patients afflicted with OI and other rare conditions, so they can access life-saving medical care.

FUNDRAISER

22ND ANNUAL NH FILM FESTIVAL

WHEN: Thursday, Oct. 17 – Sunday, Oct. 20

WHERE: Various venues in Portsmouth; box office at The Music Hall, 104 Congress St., Portsmouth

WHAT: Four days of extraordinary independent filmmaking, parties, comedy, panel discussions and educational opportunities will once again descend upon Portsmouth for the 22nd annual New Hampshire Film Festival (NHFF).

Festival organizers are encouraging filmmakers to submit their films for consideration before the final August 1, 2024, deadline. Submissions can be made through FilmFreeway at NHFilmFestival.com. Filmmakers compete to be among the more than 100 selected feature films, documentaries and short films that will be screened at numerous Portsmouth locations. This year’s featured speaker is well-known actor Alan Ruck, who enjoys a successful career in television and film, just completing his fourth season in the highly acclaimed series, “Succession.”

COST: Day passes $30-50; festival passes range from $99-$1,000
