New Hampshire is hurting

TO THE EDITOR:

New Hampshire is going in the wrong direction. Profit before people is fine when people make enough to live. Rent today is yesterday’s mortgage.

This problem has been on the state’s radar and only thanks to federal relief dollars the near-homeless received relief. That is gone.

The cost of homelessness is greater than a resolution when new housing is developed specifically for at-risk groups: fixed income, disabled, elderly forced out by property taxes, workforce housing.

How many times will the state need to reach the breaking point to commit to short- and long-term action, not just an election cycle? Who wants to build anything if not to make money?

Band-aids eventually fall off exposing a festering wound more serious than the original.

Hip-hop hooray for the few. I’m retired, rent and volunteer for a living. Everyone in the workforce is hurting.
