1. After donors from the Blood family, Merrimack Commissioners ARP Fund and Merrimack Savings Bank raised $125,000, the YMCA of Concord hosted a ribbon-cutting ceremony on May 7 to open a new child care program playground. The playground replaces a concrete lot and is themed after a firehouse and firefighting.


2. The Child Advocacy Center of Rockingham County recently named Angela Salb a “Champion for Children” at its annual award breakfast in Rye. Salb is a member of the center’s board of directors and the vice president and commercial loan officer for Meredith Village Savings Bank. The award is bestowed on those demonstrating dedication to the CAC’s mission to provide a safe environment to care for the health and well-being of abused children.


3. Nashua nonprofit The Front Door Agency hosted its 36th annual Gourmet Festival and Auction at the Nashua Country Club on April 7, raising $260,000 to support the Front Door Agency’s resources for people experiencing homelessness—including its Transformational Housing Program, an initiative for single mothers working to become self-sufficient.


4. Northeast Delta Dental recently donated $500,000 to NHTI in Concord a year after legislation provided comprehensive Medicaid oral health benefits to NH adults. The donation will allow NHTI to hire a Medicaid specialist and supervising dentist as part of a three-year pilot initiative to expand its Dental Hygiene Clinic.


5. Norway, Maine,-based Norway Savings Bank will be expanding its footprint to the Granite State with its first NH location in North Conway. Site work for the new branch location began in February, with foundation and base work expected to be completed this summer. The bank will open in early 2025 on the corner of Route 302 and Eagles Way. The company has 24 locations across Maine and was founded in 1866.


6. Bank of New Hampshire is contributing $5,000 to the nonprofit Belknap Mill Society’s Children’s Arts Program. The program offers Lakes Region children and families opportunities like children’s theater productions, educational sessions at Rotary Park and Family Craft Days. 7. Portsmouth non-profit Gather has launched “Seacoast Waste Not,” an initiative in which participating caterers, restaurants and clubs will donate surplus ingredients to Gather for the nonprofit to use in prepared meals for its food pantry. 8. The NH Community Health Worker (CHW) Coalition, the North Country Health Consortium and the Southern NH Area Health Education Center collaborated to organize their 2024 CHW Summit at the Grappone Conference Center in Concord on April 30.
