RESUMEBUILDER.COM recently surveyed hiring managers, indicating that nearly half (42%) of hiring managers take applicants’ ages into account when reviewing resumes. Of 1,000 managers, 60% say graduation year should always be included, while 41% believe it should rarely or never be. Thirty-six percent of managers admitted age bias against Gen Z applicants, while 34% expressed age bias against senior candidates.

JAMA — the Journal of the American Medical Association — found New Hampshire’s senior care staffing to be the 19th worst nationwide. The state is 41st nationally for staffing shortages (50.9% of all NH facilities), with 14.2 senior occupants per individual home health aide. NH has a nursing home occupancy rate of 82.8% (ranking 30th nationally).

IN its 2024 Men vs. Women Remote Work Report, FlexJobs reports that 80% of women feel remote worker surveillance tools are an “invasion of privacy,” vs. 73% of men who feel the same. Meanwhile, 73% of women prefer full remote work — only 63% of men do. Sixty-two percent of women polled said they are “most productive” when working remotely vs. 56% of men. The report surveyed over 4,200 U.S.-based professionals from Feb. 6-19, 2024.

THE Granite State ranks the third-most expensive state for getting a dog, after Delaware and Florida, according to Forbes Advisor. Averaging $576.41, about 3.5% of all NH dog owners paid over $2,000 for their pet. Almost half (44.5%) indicated buying their dog from a breeder, and 8 out of 10 owners said their canine friend entered their home as a puppy.

AMERICAN adults currently rate levels of government in the U.S. less positively. Only 22% of adults have a favorable opinion of federal government, down 10 points since 2022. State ratings are almost split — 50% favorable and 49% unfavorable — dropping 9% since 2019. And 61% rate local government positively, down from 69% in 2019.
