ARCHITECTURE

Harriman, an architecture and engineering firm, recently named three associates to senior associate positions: Samuel Forgue, P.E., senior civil engineer; William Gatchell, AIA, senior architect; and Jamie Ouellette, AIA, senior architect. Forgue first joined the firm seven years ago and now supervises the company’s civil engineering and landscape architecture studio. As the organization’s municipal market leader, Gatchell focuses on projects at the local, county and state levels. Additionally, Ouellette leads the K-12 education studio with over 20 years of experience at Harriman.

Warrenstreet Architects announced Caroline Corriveau, AIA, has become the design firm cooperative’s 8th employee-owner. She is the project manager for the new 10,000-square-foot Rockingham County Complex under construction in Brentwood.


ENGINEERING

Dr. Orian Welling, of Hanover, has been named chief of the research and engineering division of the U.S. Army Engineer and Research Development Center’s Cold Regions Research and Engineering Laboratory (CRREL), offering supports for the Dept. of Defense, Dept. of the Army, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and other federal agencies. He initially joined CRREL in 2020 as a research mechanical engineer with the Force Projection and Sustainment Branch’s Mobility Team.


NONPROFITS

Sophie Carney-Brenner has joined Monadnock United Way as the donor relations manager. Previously, she served as the associate director of development at Monadnock Family Services. In addition, Carney-Brenner is part of the 2023-2024 Leadership Monadnock cohort, and is involved in Trauma Responsive Monadnock, an initiative aiming to make the region trauma-informed and responsive.

Maryellen Burke was named chief development officer of the Wentworth-Douglass Foundation, with experience fundraising and fostering donor relations with local organizations such as Hope on Haven Hill in Rochester, the Black Heritage Trail of NH, the Northern Forest Center in Concord, and the NH Charitable Foundation. She replaced interim chief development officer Jan Wood, who will remain with the Foundation through April.

Karen Cagney has been promoted to revenue cycle manager by Granite VNA. She has 30 years of experience in various financial business management roles, such as a senior business analyst for Blackbaud, a cloud software company based in Charleston, South Carolina.

Plan NH is currently accepting applications for its Scholarship and Fellowship Program, which includes the Plan NH Fellowship Fund, the Alfred T. Granger Student Art Trust Fund, and the Paul and Ann Harvey Scholarship Fund, all of which support NH students who are studying architecture, construction management, engineering, environmental studies, among others. New Generation, a program of Catholic Charities NH, received a $20,000 grant from the New Hampshire Charitable Foundation to support the program’s mission of breaking the cycle of homelessness among single mothers and children, made possible by gifts from the Elizabeth B. Carter Fund.

The grants will help the organization provide safe shelter, transitional housing and stabilization services to local families in need.


FINANCIAL SERVICES

EDUCATION

Plymouth State University’s (PSU) Nursing program is launching a new RN to BSN track in fall 2024. Prospective students who already have an associate degree and are licensed as registered nurses in any state can transfer between 60 to 90 credits toward the 120 total credits required to graduate at PSU with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN). Classes will be held in-person at the PSU campus with a remote option for working nurses and out-of-state students.


ARTS

Creative Guts, a NH-based nonprofit, invites independent filmmakers from New Hampshire and beyond to submit their short films to a new film festival, which will be hosted at Red River Theatres in Concord on June 11. Films from any genre that are 15 minutes or under are welcome to be submitted prior to April 30. The spirit of this festival is to celebrate the creativity, voice and collaboration of filmmakers.

New Hampshire Lottery is celebrating 60 years with two new scratch tickets: a $25 Diamond Jubilee scratch ticket with a top prize of $2 million, and a $5 60th Anniversary Celebration scratch ticket with a top prize of $60,000. The New Hampshire Lottery is also introducing a new e-Instant game version of Diamond Jubilee to play online with a top prize of $20,000. Since its beginning, the NH Lottery has recorded more than $9.1 billion in lottery sales and other earnings, with more than $6.2 billion paid in prizes and other cost of sales.

Michael Skelton, president and CEO of the Business & Industry Association was recently appointed to the U.S. Chamber’s advisory committee. He is among seven new executives joining the U.S. Chamber’s Chamber of Commerce Committee of 100, which advises the chamber’s board of directors, enhances lobbying and coalition work, recommends programming, and strengthens outreach to the business and chamber communities.

Coastal Measures, an environmental data company based in Durham, was one of seven companies from around the world chosen for the Blue W(AI)ve Business Accelerator Program with $25,000 in support from a collaboration with Gulf of Maine Ventures and the Roux Institute of Northeastern University. The company will use the funds to further their work in deploying AI and other data science techniques to help customers better understand and prepare for coastal currents and storm surges.


TECHNOLOGY

Skyhawk, a remote-monitoring solutions provider, appointed Mitchell Goldstein as national sales director and Carly Best as marketing manager to oversee its Trapmate remote-monitoring business. Both will work out of the organization’s Derry office.

AUTOMOTIVE

Merchants Fleet has appointed Suzannah Hicks, an artificial intelligence (AI) strategist, to lead Merchants’ first company-wide AI strategy to optimize operations, enhance efficiency and drive cost savings for the company and its clients. She serves as an ambassador with the Enterprise Big Data Framework Alliance, and authored the “Data is Everything and Everything is Data” blog focusing on data and AI topics.


REAL ESTATE

Barbi Dickison has joined Badger Peabody & Smith Realty as a sales associate in the Franconia office. Dickison has over 30 years of experience managing properties during a career that spanned from Texas and New York City to Rhode Island before relocating to New Hampshire’s North Country. She also brings to the firm knowledge in manufacturing for organizations across Asia.

Lorie Paquette has joined Foxfire Property Management as the director of residential services. She was previously a property manager at Merion Residential/Countryside Village Apartments in Manchester, NH.

Lakes Region Community Developers (LRCD) has welcomed Kara LaSalle as real estate development director. She previously worked at LRCD for six years in various roles, and also served as a senior community investments officer at Evernorth.


GOVERNMENT

The NH Department of Military Affairs and Veterans Services recently hired Benjamin Whelihan as the NH State Approving Agency for veteran education benefits. Previously, he was the veteran services specialist at Northeastern University and the veterans affair coordinator at Salem State University, as well as an outreach and administrative support coordinator for the Office of Veteran Education at the Massachusetts Department of Higher Education.


LAW

McLane Middleton announced its annual award winners: Jack B. Middleton Pro Bono Award, Jacqueline A. Leary, associate, Litigation Dept.; John A. Graf Client Service Award, Jennifer R. Dionne, senior trust officer/manager, Trust Services Department; and John R. McLane Jr. Community Service Award, Joan Corey, legal administrative assistant, Corporate Department.


ENERGY

The NH Department of Environmental Services, the designated lead agency for the NH Volkswagen Environmental Mitigation Trust, has opened the first NH VW Trust-funded electric vehicle (EV) charging hub at the Monadnock Food Co-op in Keene. The site hosts two Direct Current Fast Charging stations and one dualport Level 2 charging station.


MANUFACTURING

In collaboration with Manchester Community College and the Advanced Regenerative Manufacturing Institute (ARMI), the NH Manufacturing Extension Partnership is hosting a career fair on April 9 at Manchester Community College. Ascentria Care Alliance has launched PeopleFirst Pathways, which is designed to set the standard for developing and sustaining a workforce capable of meeting workforce challenges. The service will be provided to refugees, migrants and others new to America through individualized sessions with a coach, who will counsel and support future health care and human services employees.


HealthTrust names Scott DeRoche as executive director

The HealthTrust Board of Directors recently welcomed Scott DeRoche as the new executive director. He has been with HealthTrust for 12 years, serving previously as the acting deputy director.

Prior to joining the organization, he worked at UnitedHealthcare where he trained teams in customer service and many of the technical aspects of the health insurance industry, such as benefits, claims, plan design and regulatory issues. He earned an MBA from the University of New Hampshire and a bachelor’s in community and international development from the University of Vermont.
