IN a survey of 780 hiring managers, website ResumeTemplates found that nearly 3 in 4 managers (73%) rejected qualified candidates due to resume formatting. The survey also found that almost half (48%) of managers say the majority of the resumes they receive are poorly formatted.

OWNERS of small businesses are optimistic about the rest of 2024 despite inflationary pressures, according to a recent survey by Goldman Sachs 10,000 Small Businesses Voices. Three-quarters of business owners said they have a positive outlook, 57% anticipate creating jobs this year and 62% project increased profits by 2025.

A survey by Gallup of 1,011 random U.S. adults aged 18 and up reported that less than half of Americans say they are “very satisfied” with their personal lives (47%). Satisfaction is lower among households making less than $40,000 annually, people without college degrees and people ages 18-34. Previous low points have occurred in uncertain economic times, like 2011 after the Great Recession (46%) and during the recession in December 2008 (47%).

NEW Hampshire is among the lowest states in venture capital funding growth in the past decade, according to digital business marketplace Flippa. The state raised VC funding from $224.5 million in 2012 to $605.8 million in 2022, placing it 45th in the nation. Neighboring Vermont is 4th, growing from $24.1 million in 2012 to $550.4 million in 2013. The Green Mountain State is the only New England state in the top 10 for VC growth.

THE majority (60%) of U.S. taxpayers say they spend “too much” on federal income taxes, according to a survey by the University of Chicago and the Associated Press. The survey, of 1,024 adults from Dec. 14-18, also found that 7 in 10 say the same about local property taxes, and 6 in 10 about state sales taxes.
