Last week at the 2024 Miami International Boat Show, Derry-based Skyhawk — a developer of IoT marine technology — was awarded the 2024 NMMA Innovation Award in the category of mobile applications and consumer marine electronics. The winning technology was the Skyhawk Oversea Boat Monitoring system — which debuted at the show and scheduled to hit the consumer market in April — was created to bring all boaters a practical and affordable way to keep their vessels safe and ready to go all year long. In essence, the Oversea system includes a wireless battery-powered hub that connects to an app in order to provide pilots with location tracking and boat systems monitoring such as battery power, bilge operation, unauthorized entries, shore power connections, high water levels and more. “New Hampshire is a hotbed of innovation in electronics,” said Skyhawk CEO and founder Richard Shevelow. “While our region may not have the same name recognition as a technology hub as Silicon Valley and others, the award is a recognition of the innovation and product quality our region can produce.”
