MANCHESTER: Law firm Hinckley Allen announced it is expanding into Fort Lauderdale, Florida, through its combination with Ferencik Libanoff Brandt Bustamante & Goldstein P.A., a Florida-based construction and business law firm, effective February 1. The combination brings seven attorneys and 20 new professionals to Hinckley Allen. This marks the firm’s seventh location, with other offices in Boston, Mass.; Providence, R.I.; Hartford, Conn.; Manchester, NH; Albany, N.Y.; and Chicago, Ill.
CONCORD: Granite VNA is celebrating its 125th anniversary this year. In 1899, Concord District Nursing Association was formed to serve the health needs of underserved residents of Concord. Now known as Granite VNA, the agency has grown to become New Hampshire’s largest nonprofit home health and hospice provider that now employs more than 400 nurses, therapists, social workers, spiritual care providers and administrative staff, as well as 150 volunteers. The agency provides services including home care, hospice, palliative care, pediatric and maternal child health, and community clinics and wellness programs to residents of 82 cities and towns in Central New Hampshire and the Lakes Region.
MANCHESTER: New Hampshire native Katelyn Welch, PE, has been selected by a jury of her peers from New Hampshire’s engineering societies as the 2024 New Hampshire Young Engineer of the Year. Welch was nominated by Structural Engineers of New Hampshire based on her record of professional accomplishments, service to the profession, and promoting engineering and volunteer activities in the community.
WASHINGTON, D.C.: From March 2023 to June 2023, gross job gains from opening and expanding private-sector establishments were 8.1 million, an increase of 79,000 jobs from the previous quarter, the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics reported today. Over this period, gross job losses from closing and contracting private-sector establishments were 7.8 million, an increase of 723,000 jobs from the previous quarter. Firms with 1 to 49 employees had no change in net employment. Firms with 50 to 249 employees had a net employment gain of 133,000. Firms with 250 or more employees had a net employment increase of 150,000. The service industries experienced a net job gain of 300,000, and the goods-producing industries had a net job increase of 32,000.

MANCHESTER: Mayor Jay Ruais announced that two grants from the state of New Hampshire, totaling $1.42 million, will support the development of affordable housing is coming to the city of Manchester. The first project, located at 351 Chestnut St., is set to create 98 affordable housing units, while the second project at 345 Chestnut St. will contribute an additional 44 affordable units to the community.
