WHAT: The workshop will cover common tax issues that impact small business owners. We will cover basic concepts including general tax law, accounting methods and documentation, entity choices and planning strategies. These topics will be covered at a high level, with the goal of helping participants obtain a general understanding of the tax issues that may affect their business. There will be opportunities to ask questions and the format will be geared toward a discussion of the topics most relevant to the participants.

WHAT: If you want to learn more about buying your home or are not sure where to start, join us for the next homebuyer seminar. This program reviews the steps to home ownership and gives you the tools and resources needed to make good financial decisions at every stage of the homebuying process. Fee per household includes: “Realizing the American Dream,” a complete manual detailing how to buy your home; one-on-one counseling with a certified counselor to help develop a road map to purchase your home (scheduling available following successful completion of the course; a credit report included at your one-on-one counseling appointment; and a pizza lunch. Participants are welcome to bring their own lunch, snacks and drinks.

BOOTS TO BUSINESS

WHAT: Are you a veteran or a spouse of a veteran? Are you interested in starting your own business? This online training opportunity is provided to veterans, service members, National Guard and military spouses. This free, two-day entrepreneurial workshop offers support and resources for veterans as they enter the world of business ownership. This two-day workshop helps ensure that every participant has access to a standardized entrepreneurship training track and the small business resources in their local communities. Any veteran, spouse and/or dependent children over 18 are welcome to participate. This course is offered by the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) as part of the Department of Defense. After completing the two-day Boots to Business session, participants will have the tools and knowledge they need to identify a business opportunity, draft a business plan, connect with local small business resources, and launch their small business.
