 STEMMING from concerns of the advanced age of some U.S. political leaders, a new survey from the Pew Research Center found that 79% of Americans favor maximum age limits for elected officials in Washington, D.C. And 74% support such limits for Supreme Court justices, with 82% of Republicans and 76% of Democrats supporting a maximum age limit for D.C. officials. ALIGNABLE’S September rent report showed that 40% of small business owners were not able to pay their rent in full and on time in the month of September — a new record for 2023, up one percentage point from August and 10 percentage points from the beginning of the year. Fifty percent of respondents also reported that increasing interest rates have impacted their financial health, and 53% of businesses are now earning only half or less of their pre-COVID income. RESULTS from the 2023 Workplace Wellness Survey, published by the Employee Benefit Research Institute (EBRI) and Greenwald Research, found that 74% of American workers are moderately or highly concerned about their workplace well-being. Almost three-quarters of the workers reported a similar level of concern about their emotional well-being or mental health, and a quarter rate their mental health as fair or poor. IN that same survey, it was found that close to six in 10 American workers struggle to balance work and caregiving responsibilities. Among those caregivers providing daily care for loved ones, three in four struggle to find balance. Six in 10 employees do not feel financially prepared for being unable to work or reducing work hours to provide care. RECENT data taken from the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics showed that New Hampshire ranked at No. 33 for states with the happiest and unhappiest employees, according to SelectSoftware Reviews. Alaska scored highest with the happiest employees based on overall job satisfaction, average workweek in hours and average wage.
