1. ApprenticeshipNH, a workforce program of the Community College System of NH, and Associated Builders and Contractors of New England and Vermont celebrated the first cohort of their Carpentry Registered Apprenticeship program. As the demand for skilled carpenters grows, this program provides an “earn while you learn” model that focuses on hands-on training that includes 6,400-hours of practical on-the-job training and 455 hours of classroom learning for participants.
2. Last week, Boston-based nonprofit United South End Settlements (USES) and digital infrastructure company American Tower Corporation (ATC) celebrated the opening of ATC’s first Digital Community in the United States at Camp Hale in Sandwich on Squam Lake. NH Senator Maggie Hassan attended the ribbon cutting to celebrate the camp’s new technology that will help enhance campers’ learning and recreational opportunities.
3. Meredith Village Savings Bank (MVSB) received first place in the Best Place to Work and Best Home Mortgage, as well as second place for Best Bank/Credit Union in the Laconia Daily Sun’s Best of the Lakes Region contest, which showcases the top businesses, people and places in the Lakes Region, as voted on by the public each spring. MVSB employees are seen here with their awards in late June at Gunstock Mountain Resort.
4. Bank of America presented a check to Harbor Care, a nonprofit service provider for veterans, to support the Veterans FIRST program as a sponsor of the Summit to End Veteran Homelessness back in June. 5. Outdoor Pride Landscape & Snow Management — a commercial snow removal and landscape management company — was recently named the one of the “Best Places to Work” in the snow and ice industry for the second year in a row by the Snow & Ice Management Association (SIMA). Nate Klaver (front row, at right), winter operations and shop manager at Outdoor Pride, was also recognized by SIMA as Field Operations Manager of the Year for his successful execution of field operations in snow and ice management services.
6. The City of Claremont received a Ford F150 Lighting Pro SSV all-electric truck as a donation from Christian Gomes, a former NYPD officer and dealer principal at Ford of Claremont. The truck is the first to arrive in the state, and was given to provide the police department a dependable vehicle for on-the-job safety.
7. Handcrafted coffee chain Aroma Joe’s has opened a new location in Manchester within the Manchester VA Medical Center at 781 Smyth Road, where staff will help fuel the VA staff, patients and families with coffee and espresso drinks and all-day food options. The new location is owned and operated by Robert and Tracy Hanson, who have been with the brand for eight years and own three other New Hampshire stores.
