STAY Work Play recently released their “Quality of Life Survey of Young People in New Hampshire,” which revealed that 90 percent of respondents aged 36-40 are satisfied with their quality of life in New Hampshire, followed by 82 percent of those aged 20-25. Main factors for their satisfaction include environment/outdoor recreation (83 percent), safety (78 percent), taxes (64 percent) and community (60 percent).

HOWEVER, respondents to that same survey believe NH is worse or about the same as other states for public transportation (90 percent), child care (81 percent), diversity (76 percent), affordable housing (70 percent), colleges (70 percent), healthcare (67 percent) and schools (53 percent). Respondents also believe New Hampshire is worse or the same as other states in areas such as nightlife (88 percent) and social life (82 percent).

PORTSMOUTH was ranked as the 18th best suburb for city-like living in the U.S., according to statistics gathered by Storage Cafe, considering it boasts a median household income of over $91,000 and almost 88.1 businesses per 1,000 residents. There are also 15 retail stores and 7 restaurants per 1,000 people in Portsmouth, placing it ahead of the nation’s other suburbs in terms of access to both shopping and dining amenities.

ADDITIONALLY, Portsmouth makes it easy for residents to receive high-quality healthcare, with 8.6 healthcare and social assistance establishments per 1,000 people. The city’s housing inventory is also diverse, spread equally between single-family (47 percent) and multifamily options (53 percent). With such a diverse range of amenities, it’s no wonder Portsmouth has become a destination for young professionals, families and retirees alike.

IN WalletHub’s study of the greenest states in the country, New Hampshire ranked high at No. 12 overall, due to its scores regarding environmental quality, ecofriendly behaviors and climate change contributions. The state also ranked No. 2 in the country for its air quality.
