
1. The Bedford Department of Public Works has received full accreditation by the American Public Works Association (APWA), which formally recognizes that the agency is in full compliance with the APWA’s recommended management practices, designed to assist the agency in ongoing improvement of operations and management, and provide an objective evaluation of agency programs. 2. Earlier this month, Lakes Region Community College opened a new, student-run restaurant, The Community Table, where culinary students can sharpen their skills through hands-on experience in food service and restaurant management, thereby preparing them for their chosen profession. Each semester, the restaurant will feature three handmade courses featuring classical, worldwide or U.S. regional cuisine in a weekly rotating menu. The restaurant, which can serve up to 50 guests, will also feature items prepared by pastry arts students.

3. Merrimack County Savings Bank has donated $10,000 as a sponsor of the Making Strides for Breast Cancer Walk, where participants create awareness by supporting survivors and their families, while raising money for breast cancer research through the American Cancer Society. 4. Wentworth-Douglass Hospital and the Greater Rochester Chamber of Commerce celebrated the grand opening of the Primary Care of Rochester during a ribbon-cutting ceremony and business after-hours event outside the new practice at The Ridge Marketplace. Primary Care of Rochester, a Mass General Brigham Healthcare Center, is a primary care practice that offers services such as routine checkups, physicals and health screenings, immunizations and scheduled lab draws for local families.

5. The Seacoast Science Center, a coastal and marine science education facility, recently celebrated its 30th year in business. Since it opened its doors in 1992, the Center has partnered with New Hampshire State Parks to welcome over 1.5 million people over the years, including thousands of school children across the region. 6. Vouchers for Veterans recently received a $5,000 donation from Meredith Village Savings Bank (MVSB) to support their efforts to provide veterans in New Hampshire and Maine with food vouchers redeemable at local farmers markets. 7. Parkland Medical Center has broken ground in Plaistow for its new freestanding emergency room, a 10,000-square-foot facility which will be staffed with board-certified and -eligible ER physicians and nurses 24 hours a day. The full-service ER, expected to open in spring 2023, will offer walk-in and ambulance entrances, 10 private treatment rooms, CT capabilities, digital ultrasound and X-rays, and an on-site laboratory.
