NEW Hampshire was ranked as the 25th best state for remote work, according to a recent WalletHub study. New Jersey was the best state for working remotely, and Alaska was ranked the least favorable state for remote workers. Internet access, share of telecommuters in the home, cost of Wi-Fi and electricity, and other metrics were used to determine the states’ ranks.

THE Granite State also ranked highest in cybersecurity protection, with the least amount of lost value and crime victims per capita than other states like New York and the District of Columbia. However, New Hampshire ranked No. 49 with the highest internet costs.

BUSINESS Roundtable, a Washington, D.C.-based association of CEOs of America’s largest employers, published a new study that shows over 180,000 — one in five — New Hampshire jobs depended on trade in 2019 before the outbreak of the Covid-19 pandemic. As businesses continue to recover from the pandemic and other supply chain-related challenges, research found that expanding trade ties can accelerate U.S. economic growth, support high-paying New Hampshire jobs and benefit American businesses, workers, farmers and families.

SINCE 1992, New Hampshire’s share of jobs tied to trade has increased by 104 percent, and trade-related employment grew four times faster than total state employment from 1992 to 2019. Of New Hampshire’s 2,556 exporters, 85 percent are small- and mediumsized companies with less than 500 workers.

IN the Business Roundtable study, New Hampshire ranks among the top 20 state exporters in nine industries, including seventh in metalworking machinery ($291 million), 11th in marine products ($45 million) and lime and gypsum products ($11 million), and 15th in commercial and service industry machinery ($168 million). Additionally, New Hampshire exported $5.8 billion in goods and $3.3 billion in services in 2019, including aerospace products and parts, pharmaceuticals and medicines, communications equipment, and personal travel and tourism services.
