Some of these common-sense measures include timely patching, using current versions of software, picking passwords the right way and a bunch more that do not require a huge effort, but can deliver a big difference. Experts include Patrick Hynds, CEO and founder of cybersecurity companies DTS and Pulsar Security, and Duane Laflotte, chief technology officer at Pulsar Security and DTS.

LAUGHS FOR LEARNING COMEDY NIGHT WITH JUSTON MCKINNEY

WHAT: “Laughs for Learning” is a fun night of networking and a comedy show that serves to fund the Salem Chamber’s Scholarship Program and Interview Challenge Competition. The Chamber awards annual scholarships to students who are dependents of someone who works for a Chamber member or students who, themselves, work directly for a Chamber member. The Interview Challenge is a unique program that prepares students for the interviewing process by having them go through three rounds of mock interviews.

DEI FROM TALK TO ACTION: BUILDING A HIGH- PERFORMANCE, INCLUSIVE CULTURE

WHEN: Thursday, May 5, 8 – 11:30 a.m.

WHAT: At this event, business leaders will develop an enhanced understanding of what DEI is from a business perspective, how it can improve organizational performance as well as practical steps they can take away to create a powerful, creative, innovative and supportive culture. This three-part program will feature an opening overview from James McKim, managing partner at Organizational Ignition and author of the new book, “The Diversity Factor: Igniting Superior Organizational Performance.” Then, a panel of consultants specializing in DEI and moderated by Lisa Carter, owner of Drinkwater Marketing, will dive into a broad overview of the field as seen across their many clients in New Hampshire and beyond. Finally, a panel of DEI officers from New Hampshire companies, moderated by Zaineb Haider, Senior Diversity, Equity & Inclusion Advisor at Cigna, will share their practical experiences in leading their companies’ DEI efforts.

KENTUCKY DERBY PARTY: JOCKEYS & JULEPS

Proceeds go towards programs at Touchstone Farm, a Lyndeborough-based educational and therapeutic nonprofit that is positively changing lives through partnerships between horses and people.

ANNUAL LEGISLATIVE DINNER

WHEN: Monday, May 9, 5 – 8 p.m.

WHERE: LaBelle Winery, 345 NH Route 101, Amherst

WHAT: The Greater Manchester Chamber of Commerce and Fidelity present the Annual Legislative Dinner, which brings together leaders of the business community and elected officials to help form productive relationships that will enhance the legislature’s ability to enact sound policies. The program will feature a moderated panel discussion between members of the House and Senate. Each legislator will have the opportunity to give brief remarks followed by a panel discussion on the key policy issues in front of the Legislature this year. Attendees will be able to submit or ask questions of the panel at the event. The dinner also gives attendees the opportunity to become more familiar with the Chamber’s priorities in the area of government affairs and advocating for our member businesses.
