WHAT: Ellen Groh, executive director of the Concord Coalition to End Homelessness, will give a brief overview of homelessness and discuss solutions that are working to end homelessness in Concord. Groh has a long history of working on poverty issues and has formerly worked as a legal services attorney in North Carolina and in affordable housing development with the North Carolina Housing Finance Agency, as well as working with a private developer of affordable housing. She holds a Juris Doctorate from University of North Carolina School of Law, and an M.S. in Public Health from Harvard School of Public Health.

EFFECTIVE COMMUNICATION IN THE WORKPLACE SERIES

This interactive workshop series will help you navigate these conversations, and you’ll learn how to listen empathically to encourage safe and positive workplace environments; receive hard-to-hear statements without taking it personally; and make effective workplace requests (not hidden demands) to others.

For 20 years, Fisher worked in supply chain management for multinational firms in the consumer products and financial services industries. She was a professor at Antioch University New England and was the director of its MBA in sustainability program for five years. Currently, Fisher teaches business management courses at AUNE and KSC as an adjunct instructor, and she is the director of The New Leaf Gallery. Fisher holds an MFA from Brooklyn College, an MBA in entrepreneurial studies from Babson College and a doctorate in leadership from Franklin Pierce University.
