
1. Kurt Strandson, third from right, and Ryan Mullholland, third from left, of Pinnacle Mortgage and Compass Title & Closings, respectively, join CHaD Battle of the Badges captains and coaches to present a $7,500 check to the Children’s Hospital at Dartmouth at the Battle of the Badges Baseball Classic. 2. Julie Reynolds, left, president and CEO of Cornerstone VNA, Rochester, presented the 2020 Cornerstone Award to Dr. Archana Bhargava. Dr. Bhargava, medical director of Frisbie Memorial Hospital’s Center for Cancer Care and Hematology and a longtime Cornerstone VNA board member, was honored “for her important contributions to our organization and the community,” said Reynolds. Also at the event, the 2021 Cornerstone Award was given to four community mask-maker groups: Tara Estates Mask Brigade, Face Mask Makers, Seacoast Mask Makers and Friends of Farmington.
3. The eight annual FEEDNH.org golf tournament, held in August at the Manchester Country Club, raised $86,270 to help FEEDNH.org’s mission to strengthen New Hampshire communities through philanthropic collaboration, dedicated employee involvement and volunteerism benefiting families, the elderly, the disadvantaged and education. 4. More than 20 teams took part in Girls Inc. New Hampshire’s third annual Granite State Golf at Nashua Country Club, raising $50,000 for the organization, whose mission is to inspire girls through research-based programming and mentoring. 5. Going in a different fundraising direction during the pandemic has paid off for the Granite YMCA. Unable to hold events, the organization got the help of over 150 volunteers to launch a direct ask approach that resulted in a total of $589,000 in gifts — more than it had ever received in its 165-year history. “This campaign was a great success,” said David Ports, president and CEO of the Granite YMCA (shown here).
6. U.S. Sen. Jeanne Shaheen, D-NH, visited Berlin last month to discuss infrastructure, the city’s inflow and infiltration project, with city officials and project contractors. 7. Girls Inc. New Hampshire’s Young Women’s Leadership summer program, sponsored by Dartmouth-Hitchcock, included a summer full of educational field trips and guest speakers. Held on the Saint Anselm’s College campus, the program engages young women in activities designed to help them develop leadership, problem-solving and decision-making skills. Among the speakers was Karen Borgstrom, director of external affairs at Dartmouth-Hitchcock, who brought her therapy dog, Kooper, to meet the girls.
