Sometimes, all it takes is just one story to inspire others into action. At New Hampshire Businesses for Social Responsibility’s annual Sustainability Slam, businesses and nonprofits of all sizes take to the stage to share their stories and insights of impact.
“Since its inception, NHBSR’s Sustainability Slam has provided an engaging, inspiring and entertaining forum to showcase the achievements of New Hampshire’s business community in the area of sustainability,” said Lisa Landry of Gravity Group. “In sharing their s t ories, these businesses provide inspiration and ideas for all New Hampshire business leaders and reinforce that we can all do ‘Just One Thing’ to make our communities more sustainable and resilient.”
This year’s Sustainability Slam will be held Thursday, Nov. 24, at LaBelle Winery’s newest location in Derry and will feature local food and drinks. Anyone interested in how organizations can make a positive impact on their workplace, community or the environment is welcome to attend and submit their own story at nhbsr.org/jot for a chance to present on stage.
Among last year’s winners were:
• 36creative of Salem, which helped create and launch The Thank You Tour, a collaborative effort with several other U.S. businesses to deliver food supplies to front-line workers during the height of the pandemic.
• Cirtronics, which initiated a perpetual clothing donation bin, which collected over 800 pounds of clothing in three months and donated it to SHARE via Ecosmith Recyclers.
• Mascoma Bank, which formed CoAlign to create educational and open discussions on diversity, equity and inclusion.
• MegaFood, which developed a global standard for measuring soil health and carbon in the soil.
• Waypoint, whose annual SleepOut invites community participants to spend a night out in the cold to raise awareness and funds in support of the critical needs of homeless youth and adults.
