CONSTRUCTION

George Holcomb has been promoted to general superintendent of Jewett Construction, Fremont. He had previously been a superintendent for the firm.

North Branch Construction, Concord, has completed construction of three multi-unit apartment buildings at the Wallace Farm Apartment Homes community on Bridle Path Lane in Londonderry. Wallace Farm Phase 2 was a $13.2 million project consisting of three 24-unit, three-story apartment buildings. Christopher Fokas of Wallace Farm Development LLC is developer of the project.

Fulcrum Construction, Amherst, has begun work on renovating the former Brookstone Events & Golf in Derry, which was acquired late last year by winemaker Amy LaBelle and husband Cesar Arboleda, co-owners of LaBelle Winery in Amherst and Portsmouth. The facility, to be known as LaBelle Winery Derry, is being remade into a wedding and event center.

Design is by architect Peter Niemitz of the Niemitz Design Group of Boston. Renovations are expected to be complete in April.

North Branch Construction recently completed renovation projects at two facilities owned and operated by Families in Transition-New Horizons in Manchester, made possible by funds received through the CARES Act. The project included moving the organization’s food pantry from 199 Manchester St. to a new property located at 176 Lake Ave. across the street from the organization’s Family Emergency Shelter. The former food pantry area at 199 Manchester St. was renovated to create additional sleeping quarters for individuals experiencing homelessness.

The Belknap Landscape Company has become the first partner in NH Lakes’ new LakeSmart Service Provider Program, a directory of lake-friendly living service providers to help them adopt lake-friendly living practices.

FINANCIAL SERVICES

The Elm Street Group of Morgan Stanley, Manchester, has named Daniel Hartford of Manchester and Christine Hayes of North Hampton to its team as a financial advisor and senior registered associate, respectively.

HarborOne Mortgage, Manchester, has named Dave Gravelle senior vice president of sales. Gravelle most recently served as the company’s Plymouth branch manager.

LAW

Kathryn E. Skouteris has joined the Health Care and Insurance practice groups as counsel at Concord based Rath, Young and Pignatelli. She previously was senior vice president, general counsel and chief administrative officer at Southern New Hampshire Health System.

Before that, she served in senior roles at the New Hampshire Department of Revenue Administration as general counsel and assistant commissioner.

In addition, Judith Feinberg Albright has been named a shareholder of the firm. She has been a member of its Health Care and Litigation practice groups since 2018, representing healthcare providers and entities in a variety of regulatory matters.

ENGINEERING

Rebecca Maloney has joined Laconia-based RFS Engineering, which also has offices in Boston and Portland, Maine, as director of marketing and business development. Maloney has worked at national and international in the architecture, engineering and construction industry for over 20 years.

Tom Barrasso has joined Nobis Group of Concord as project development manager. A veteran environmental professional, Barrasso has over 30 years of experience in environmental consulting, developing environmental policy for a variety of local, state and federal agencies. Most recently, he was director of energy and environmental affairs for the city of Amesbury, Mass.

Giuseppe Granara has joined TFMoran as a survey field technician in the Bedford office. Granara recently graduated from the University of Massachusetts at Lowell, where he earned a bachelor of science degree in civil engineering. Also at TFMoran, Julia Chartier has joined the firm as an administrative assistant and marketing assistant in the Bedford office. In addition, the firm has announced the promotion of Christopher Rice, Thomas Lamb and Kyle Roy to principals of the firm. Rice joined TFMoran in 1999 and currently manages the civil division in TFM’s Portsmouth office. Lamb joined the company’s structural engineering department in 2007. Roy is a senior structural engineer in TFMoran’s Bedford office.

Nobis Group has added two new associates: Brett Kay, director of civil engineering services, and Jennifer Lambert, senior hydrogeologist. Kay has been with the firm for 18 years, and Lambert has 17 years of experience.

BUSINESS ORGANIZATIONS

The Greater Dover Chamber of Commerce is accepting nominations for its annual Awards Gala, which recognizes the citizen, volunteer, educator, business and nonprofit of the year. The chamber also awards a $1,000 scholarship to a local area student pursuing higher education.

The Greater Nashua Chamber of Commerce has named four new members to its board of directors: William Craig, community relations specialist at Eversource Energy; Tim Cummings, economic development director for the city of Nashua; Kristin Mendoza, principal at Abridge Law; and Anu Patel, division director of operations at Dartmouth-Hitchcock. In addition, the board has elected new officers for 2021: Brian Law, resident of Law Logistics, chair; Michael Aquino, financial advisor at Broad Street Planning, vice chair; Carol Baldwin, executive director of the Adult Learning Center, treasurer; and Linda LaFleur, account manager at SquareTail Advisors, secretary.

Jenny Barba, a partner with BioVenture Investors, and Kaitlin Maier, CEO of Reia Health, have joined the Upper Valley MedTech Collaborative’s steering committee. Barba has over 20 years of experience as a financial and strategic advisor focused on financing the growth of nextgeneration medical technology companies. Maier, whose healthcare startup Reia is focused on improving the treatment experience for people with pelvic organ prolapse, previously was an associate at M&A firm Sherpa Technology Group.

EDUCATION


The Longview School, Amherst, has named Nicole MacVane as its new director and Emory Clark as assistant director. Longview is a private high school that is part of the Regional Services and Education Center, a nonprofit educational collaborative providing educational and special needs-focused programs and services in southern New Hampshire. New Hampshire is one of four states receiving a federal grant to prepare students for careers in fields related to science, technology, engineering and math. The $2.9 million grant from the U.S. Department of Education will fund the New Hampshire Out-of-School-Time Career Pathways Initiative, which will work with industry partners and the Conway, Hinsdale, Laconia and Manchester school districts. The five-year program is designed to help students earn industry-recognized credentials for remote work and to complete paid internships in indemand fields.

Colby-Sawyer College has received the largest gift in its 183-year history, $10.2 million, from longtime supporters William and Sonja Carlson Davidow ’56. The gift will almost entirely benefit the college’s endowment, accounting for an immediate increase of 20% to the fund, which now stands at nearly $57 million. In addition, the gift will fund both endowed faculty chairs and scholarships for years to come, and has the potential to add an additional $5 million to the endowment through matching gifts.

The New Hampshire Board of Education has approved the Signum Academy Clubs program for participation in the state’s new Learn Everywhere initiative. Through Learn Everywhere, Signum is now authorized to grant New Hampshire high school students English and language certificates, which they can submit to their schools for graduation credit. It is the first language arts program to be authorized by the Learn Everywhere initiative.

The Young Inventors’ Program is being integrated into the University of New Hampshire’s Joan and James Leitzel Center for Mathematics, Science and Engineering Education with the goal of increasing resources and strengthening opportunities for K-12 students in STEM fields. A 35-year-old, projectbased STEM education program, YIP was founded by the late Robert H. Rines, an inventor, entrepreneur, attorney and a founder of the Franklin Pierce Law Center, as a way to encourage students in early grades to explore STEM principles and apply their learning to real-world problems.

TECHNOLOGY

Claremont-based IT provider Red River has been awarded a contract with the California Department of Technology’s California Network and Telecommunications program to provide cloud-based data network and communication services to the state. Red River will provide voiceover internet services through Cisco’s Unified Communications Manager Cloud platform.

AirTank, an e-commerce consultancy based in Peterborough, says it has been adding more clients to its roster in health, technology and energy, among other industries. The company says among the new clients are Airadigm, Tivic Health, Flyp and Integrity Energy. The firm works with business-to-business and business-toconsumer firms, including medical device and software makers and home goods and consumer services firms.

CairnSurgical, a Lebanon-based firm working to increase precision of breast cancer surgery, has announced that the first patient has been treated in its trial of the Breast Cancer Locator System at Massachusetts General Hospital.

The BCL System is designed to eliminate guesswork in breast cancer surgery by providing a blueprint of the tumor and a surgical guide to achieve clear margins, the company said. It said current surgery processes are unsuccessful at removing the entire tumor about 20% of the time, primarily because current tumor localization techniques do not provide the information required to achieve precise removal of the disease.

TRANSPORTATION

Merchants Auto has launched a new commercial vehicle sales business at its lot at 1278 Hooksett Rd. in Hooksett, serving businesses looking for medium and high-roof cargo vans and other light-duty commercial vehicles. Marcus Luce has been named director of commercial sales at Merchants.

CONSUMER SERVICES

Manchester-based Phaneuf Funeral Homes and Crematorium has acquired privately owned Cain and Janosz Funeral Home, located at 74 Brook St., Manchester. Buddy Phaneuf, CEO of the company, said the acquisition “provides us the ability to expand the quality of service we provide to our community members across New Hampshire.”

ACCOUNTING

Chris Roughton has joined Baker Newman Noyes’ Portsmouth office as manager in the firm’s Business and Technology Advisory Practice.

Matthew Nadeau has been promoted to principal of Nathan Wechsler & Company, Concord. He specializes in serving manufacturers and construction businesses, performing business valuations and assisting with mergers and acquisitions.

FOOD AND AGRICULTURE

LaBelle Winery has named a new culinary director, Peter Agostinelli, who will oversee LaBelle’s food and beverage operations at its Derry, Amherst and Portsmouth locations. The food and beverage operations include two restaurants, banquet facilities, a specialty market, off-site and pickup catering, daily meal services, and The Winemaker’s Kitchen artisan culinary products and specialty beverages.

Fabrizia Spirits has nearly doubled the size of its facility at 2 Industrial Way in Salem with the goal of increasing efficiency to accommodate strong sales momentum and demand. The expansion also makes room for the 500,000 Sicilian lemons Fabrizia imports each year as a key ingredient in its Limoncello, ready-todrink canned cocktails, lemon-scented hand sanitizer and the new Fabrizia Lemon Baking Company.

HEALTHCARE

Dr. Carol L. Barsky, currently executive vice president and chief quality officer for Hackensack-Meridian Health in Edison, N.J., has been appointed chief quality and value officer for the Dartmouth-Hitchcock Health system. Prior to joining Hackensack-Meridian, Barsky was medical director for clinical performance and associate chief, patient safety and quality, at Yale-New Haven Hospital in New Haven, Conn.

Indian Stream Health Center has promoted Sergio G. Zullich to chief executive officer, succeeding Dr. Gregory Culley, who has served as acting CEO for the last four years. Zullich has been serving as Indian Stream’s pharmacy director since 2019 and has been part of the practice’s senior leadership team over that time period.

Mary Dewling has joined Monarch Communities, Hooksett, as executive vice president of sales at the integrated senior living owner/operator.

Dr. Michael S. Calderwood has been named chief quality officer at Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center and Dr. Jonathan T. Huntington has been named its chief medical officer. Calderwood has served, since 2019, as the associate chief quality officer for Dartmouth-Hitchcock. Huntington has been serving since April 2020 as acting chief medical officer for DHMC.

Concord Hospital’s board of trustees has elected Philip Emma as chair and Manisha Patel as vice chair. New trustees are Charles Fanaras, Lucy Hodder, Linda Lorden, Joseph Meyer and Donald Welford.

Dartmouth-Hitchcock Orthopaedics at New London Hospital has been chosen by GE as one of the company’s national Centers of Excellence for total hip and knee replacement surgery. With this designation, eligible GE plan members can elect to receive enhanced coverage for their joint replacement surgery at New London Hospital.

Wentworth-Douglass Hospital has named Adam Bagni, most recently a reporter at television WCVB Channel 5 in Boston, as its director of communications and community relations.

REAL ESTATE

Real estate veterans Ann Dippold and Joya Dennehy have launched Dippold & Dennehy, a real estate firm based in Bow specializing in residential real estate. Also joining the firm are agents Bianca Contreras of Bow and Concord. “We have pulled together four women with exceptional talent and an unwavering desire to give clients a best-inclass service as they sell or buy their new home,” said Dippold.

Meredith-based RE/MAX Bayside has announced 10 of the company’s agents earned high recognition for sales performance during 2020.

Reuben Bassett, Kathleen Davis, Dennis Potter and Sara Robinson were honored with the Executive Club Award, which highlights gross commission earnings between $50,000 and $99,999. Randy Annis, Bob Gunter, Shane Hayes and Ron Talon were all honored as members of the 100% Club, which signifies gross commission earnings between $100,000 and $249,999. Chris Adams won the Platinum Club Award, which goes to agents earning between $250,000 and $499,999 in gross commissions. And Scott Knowles won the Chairman’s Club Award for agents earning between $500,000 and $999,999 in gross commission dollars.

Kevin Shaw of Roche Realty Group has been named a Top Producer for 2020 at Roche Realty Group’s Laconia office, producing a closed sales volume of over $35.5 million involving 76 transaction sides for the year 2020.

NeighborWorks Southern New Hampshire has announced completion of The Merrimack Townhomes, a rental development at 5 Angelo Drive in Merrimack. The development has 45 townhouse-style apartments in nine buildings.

It is the first affordable family project in the town of Merrimack. Development team for the $10.5 million project included John S. Jordan Design, Meridian Land Services and Gary Chicoine Construction Corporation.

UTILITIES

The New Hampshire Water Works Association has selected Glenn Eaton as recipient of the 2020 Meritorious Achievement Award. Eaton serves as a senior pump operator for Aquarion Water Company, which provides water service to Hampton, North Hampton and Rye.

ADVERTISING AND MARKETING

Manchester-based public relations and strategic communications firm Montagne Communications has become Montagne Powers, recognizing longtime partner E.J. Powers. The change is “a natural evolution for our company, given E.J.’s professional growth and demonstrated leadership,” said Scott Tranchemontagne, the firm’s founder. In addition, Montagne Powers has launched a new website, montagnepowers.com.

NONPROFITS

Stay Work Play has announced the appointment of two new members to its board of directors: Carolyn Isabelle, director, workforce development, Dartmouth-Hitchcock Health; and Sheila Vargas, government and community relations manager, The Nature Conservancy in New Hampshire. Officers of the board for 2021 are: co-chairs, E.J. Gather, a nonprofit working to make the Greater Seacoast a hunger-free community, has been named a 2021 Champion in Action in the category of Covid-19 Relief. The award, announced jointly by Citizens Bank and the New Hampshire Union Leader, includes $35,000 in unrestricted funding, as well as promotional and volunteer support for the organization’s outstanding work.

The New Hampshire Children’s Health Foundation has awarded the University of New Hampshire Cooperative Extension a $19,900 grant to further develop its food access map. UNH Extension will collaborate with state partners committed to federal nutrition and food assistance programs to strengthen the map’s effectiveness with food-insecure families.

Janet Horvath of Auburn has been named chair of the board of the New Hampshire Senior Games, which aim to blend competitive sport and social interactions for active older adults. In addition, Tracey Miller of Manchester has been named vice chair, and Corri Wilson of Hooksett, Karyn Fisher of Strafford and Janet Reilly of Manchester have been named directors.

Morgan Franklin Fellowship, Manchester, has added three new board members: Griffin Dunaway of Raleigh, N.C., an associate with Cushman & Wakefield and an advisor with Morgan Legacy Partners; Marc Lussier of Candia, vice president of operations at Geophy Survey Systems, Inc. and a partner with Lear Capital Partners; and John McKinnon of Spartanburg, S.C., a regional project manager with Morgan Legacy Partners and founder and president of the Mobile Home Exchange. The nonprofit’s mission is to provide individuals and organizations the tools to build financial independence.

Monadnock United Way has announced that the organization raised $1,307,723, exceeding its goal of $1,277,000 for the 2020 Better Together Campaign. President Liz LaRose said it was the first time since 2015 that MUW has reached its annual campaign goal.

The New Hampshire Electric Co-op Foundation has donated $2,000 to the Family Resource Center at Gorham to pay for new laptop computers at the center’s Colebrook and Littleton locations, enabling staff to stay in communication with clients during the pandemic while in-person visits are temporarily suspended.

Peabody & Smith Realty has once again provided support to Affordable Housing Education and Development (AHEAD) with a $5,900 donation raised from the interest of escrow money put in by buyers and sellers throughout the year, as well as a matching donation by Peabody & Smith.

Dartmouth-Hitchcock Health has given a grant of $20,000 to Families in Transition- New Horizons to support the organization’s adult emergency shelter program.

NBT Bank has made a $5,000 contribution to NeighborWorks Southern New Hampshire, renewing support of HOMEteam, a collaborative program that provides homeownership and financial wellness education and counseling services to New Hampshire residents.

Jenny Levy, vice president of people, community and environment at Hanoverbased industrial cutting products manufacturer Hypertherm, has been named the next president of the Hypertherm Owners’ Philanthropic Endeavors (HOPE) Foundation. She succeeds Barbara Couch, who founded the nonprofit a decade ago. The foundation provides money for nonprofit organizations and projects in the Upper Valley.

Service Credit Union has become the $25,000 lead sponsor of the SEE Science Center’s Inclusion Initiative, a program designed to provide STEM services to traditionally marginalized communities. Through the initiative, SEE works with community partners, including the YMCA, Boys and Girls Club, Girls Inc., and Title 1 schools to deliver free programs to those students who need it most.
