The University of New Hampshire’s Organic Dairy Research Farm (ODRF) has entered into a new agreement with Stonyfield Organic to send all milk produced on the farm directly to the company’s processing facility in Londonderry.

“About 20 years ago, Stonyfield Organic provided support for the Organic Dairy Research Farm that was essential for moving it from concept to reality,” said Anthony S. Davis, dean of the UNH College of Life Sciences and Agriculture. “We’re delighted to further strengthen our close relationship, as the dairy industry serves as a critical source of research that informs New Hampshire farmers and provides a learning platform for our students.”

The new supply agreement will allow UNH students and researchers, alongside Stonyfield employees, to gain deeper hands-on experience across the food supply chain from animal management to milk production and marketing final products.

The UNH Organic Dairy Research Farm, established in 2005, spans 275 acres and supports approximately 100 Jersey cows along with barns, crop and forage fields, pastures and woodlands. Faculty, staff and students conduct research in dairy nutrition, precision dairy management, agroforestry, pasture quality and natural resource conservation — work that benefits both organic and conventional farms in the region.

Stonyfield Organic began in 1983 on a small New Hampshire farm with just seven cows. Today, its yogurts, smoothies, milk and cream are sold nationwide. Committed to planet-friendly practices, Stonyfield became a certified B Corporation in 2016 and achieved 100% renewable energy use at its Londonderry facility in 2022.
