CONCORD: A study conducted by Tuck Community Consulting, a student-run organization at the Tuck School of Business at Dartmouth, found that the camp industry’s economic impact on the New Hampshire is estimated to be $445 million each year. The state’s 160 camps attract nearly 35,000 visitors to New Hampshire who directly contribute to the economy through purchases of food, gas, lodging, gifts and activities —estimated at about $10 million each year. New Hampshire summer camps host more than 86,000 campers each year, employ more than 4,000 New Hampshire residents and bring in 6,000 additional employees.

PORTSMOUTH: Port City Veterinary Referral Hospital, part of Ethos Veterinary Health, has launched its Radiation Oncology services, led by board-certified radiation oncologist Dr. Maegan Watson-Skaggs, DVM, DACVRRO. With this addition, Port City becomes the only veterinary radiation oncology facility in New Hampshire and Maine, extending access to advanced oncology care for pets across New England and into Canada. This dual-service model allows pets and families to access coordinated, multidisciplinary care, whether a cancer diagnosis is confirmed, suspected or in need of further evaluation.

KEENE: ApprenticeshipNH, a workforce training program of the Community College System of NH (CCSNH), and River Valley Community College (RVCC) have collaborated with Southwestern Community Services (SCS) Head Start to create a two-year Early Childhood Education Teacher’s Assistant/Associate Teacher Registered Apprenticeship. The Registered Apprenticeship Program (RAP) launched September 2025, and blends 4,000 hours of paid on-the-job training at SCS Head Start with online and classroom instruction leading to an associate degree in Early Childhood Education from RVCC. The part-time Teacher’s Assistant RAP is currently offered at SCS Head Start’s Claremont location and the full-time Associate Teacher RAP is offered at the Claremont, Keene and Newport locations.

DOVER: First Seacoast Bank (FSB) announced it was once again the festival underwriter for Apple Harvest Day, which took place on October 4. FSB had chosen to donate its festival table to the Pope Memorial Humane Society, a local nonprofit dedicated to providing shelter, care and advocacy for animals in need in order to help the organization connect with festivalgoers, share its mission and inspire the community to support animal welfare. To extend its support all month long, FSB will make a $50 donation to Pope Memorial Humane Society for each new account opened at the Bank in the month of October.

MANCHESTER: The Department of Veterans Affairs will realign an additional $800 million this fiscal year as part of the Veterans Health Administration’s Non-Recurring Maintenance program, which makes infrastructure improvements to health care facilities to ensure safe and effective patient care. The extra money will be spent on a variety of improvement projects at various VA health care facilities across the nation, including the Manchester VA Medical Center, which needs to replace its above-ground storage facility and conduct various building renovations including Wi-Fi installation. The additional funds will come from savings gathered from various VHA reform efforts, which will bring the total NRM program spending for FY 2025 to $2.8 billion, a nearly $500 million increase from FY 2024.
