In an unpredictable economy, finding a financial partner you can rely on is essential. Bank of New Hampshire (BNH), the thirteenth oldest bank in the nation, embodies the strength and stability that comes with nearly two centuries of dedication to the communities it serves. Since its founding in 1831, BNH has adapted to the changing financial landscape while maintaining an unwavering focus on exceptional service. After 193 years, BNH remains steadfast in its commitment to its people—something that’s especially apparent with the opening of its newly constructed headquarters in Laconia, New Hampshire.

BNH’s newly opened headquarters is a physical symbol of its deep-rooted commitment to the communities it serves. Located just off Veterans Square in Laconia, the building incorporates elements of brick and granite that echo the historic palette of downtown, seamlessly integrating the Bank’s history with its future. “Staying downtown was essential for us,” says Chris Logan, President and CEO of Bank of New Hampshire. “We’ve been here since 1831, and our presence downtown is a commitment to Laconia and the Lakes Region.”

The interior of the new headquarters is designed to create a warm and welcoming experience. Customers entering the lobby for the first time often stop to admire the modern blue and light gray aesthetic, accented by natural wood elements. Gone is the traditional receptionist counter—BNH has opted for an innovative approach where service representatives rotate, welcoming each customer directly as they enter. Though the building is 20% smaller than its predecessor, a reimagined layout provides increased office and conference room space, optimizing the footprint to better meet the needs of employees and customers alike. Built with up-to-date technology, the facility also includes a rooftop solar array, making it more energy-efficient and environmentally conscious.

The stability that BNH offers is rooted in its structure as a mutual bank, where depositors are the true owners. This model allows BNH to offer competitive interest rates and reinvest deposits locally, creating a virtuous cycle that directly benefits customers and the community.

Beyond traditional banking, BNH serves individuals, businesses and nonprofits through a full suite of financial services. The Bank’s Commercial Banking Team, composed of local decision-makers, offers insights and solutions tailored specifically to business owners. BNH’s Wealth Management* Team provides long-term financial guidance for those looking to manage assets effectively—whether for themselves, their businesses or charitable causes.

True to its founders’ mission, BNH has remained dedicated to the community it serves, a vision that has grown even stronger over time. In 2022-23 alone, the Bank donated over $2 million, invested more than 5,600 employee service hours and supported 242 local organizations. This commitment to service underscores BNH’s dedication to giving back, which is at the core of its purpose as a community bank.

This year, the opening of its new headquarters reflects BNH’s sustained strength and its vision for the future. “Though times have changed since 1831, the Bank’s values have not,” added Logan. “For nearly two centuries, BNH has been a constant, trusted partner for individuals, families and businesses, providing a secure place to bank while fostering community growth.”

In an era when stability can feel elusive, Bank of New Hampshire stands as a pillar of strength for the Granite State. The new headquarters doesn’t just offer customers a beautiful, state-of-the-art banking experience; it is a testament to BNH’s commitment to the people, businesses and values of New Hampshire. As BNH moves into its next century, it remains guided by a simple but enduring mission: to serve as a safe and secure financial foundation for its community.
